VDH Questions for Purchasing

My husband knows when he hears me say

“So I decided”… that something big and crazy is gonna get said. “So I was thinking”… is a close 2nd.
Mine is, "So, I have a question for you." And, then I proceed to phrase the question so as to elicit the answer I hope to get. That might be the lawyer coming out in me (which my wife doesn't exactly love).

My wife just kind of does what she wants, then I see the bloody aftermath when I download the transactions days later.

My 2 cents…

People love to hate VDH.. until they dont.

Guilty 🙋‍♀️
I’m still somewhat in that group, but I do see the potential to love it! :-)

This is actually really helpful. I see us going to Poly maybe 1x every 2-3 years because of all the choices in FL.

I see us going to VDH multiples times a year. I asked the kids in our party what hotel they preferred out of vgc and vdh and they all said vdh. I would love staying at Poly too, but theres a lot of hotels I like in FL as well that id love staying in!
Then VDH is the answer.

So, I own Polynesian, VDH and VGC. VDH is the only one that I wish I had more points at. I obviously love those three resorts . Originally, I thought I would always wait-list VGC when I had VDH booked, but I don't feel that way anymore.

If you're local and plan to visit Disneyland often, I 100% would recommend VDH. If you truly are concerned about future resale value, I think Poly is better because the points aren't restricted. I'm at an age where I need to focus on what's best for me and not what's best for someone else to sell it later. The TOT always sucks! But, taxes and ridiculously high parking rates are standard for any good resort or hotel in the state. We get free parking and we OWN a vacation home at Disneyland. I think that's worth more than the dumb Anaheim tax.
This!!
VDH is the answer.

I do think Poly makes more sense overall for someone who rarely goes to DLR. I strongly considered Poly because I was anti-VDH in the beginning, even after staying there. But in the end when one wants to visit DLR more than WDW VDH makes more sense. Which I know is what you also eluded to. Fingers crossed the increase % trends down.
VDH is the answer.

$332 extra a year I can deal with
VDH is the answer!!

This is really the deciding factor IMO. Will you use this points more often for DLR or WDW? If DLR, VDH all the way. If WDW, PVB may be the better choice. Of course, 40-48 years is a long time, so is one a better bet than the other for SAP+ over all those years? Bring out the crystal ball.

I think that means, you probably can't go wrong either way here, @Girlstar30.
True. You really can’t go wrong either way, but… VDH is the answer. :teeth:

I was battling with the choice between VDH and Poly also. I only go to Disneyland maybe every 12-18 months for 3 days... so very different situation than you. I chose Poly but it was a very difficult choice because I agree there are SO MANY plusses to VDH. I had to decide we will need to buy a contract there too, but for me, it just needs to be smaller. It sounds like you'd actually use the points at VDH, so your situation might work best for buying there.

Vdh was the last place I thought id buy but it really just makes sense with the way we travel to have a seperate Cali contract

So funny to find this thread at the top of Disboards. I just added on at VDH last night on a whim. 😂

I was running low on points, I knew I wanted to book a DLR trip for my bday. I called my guide up and boom! Within 15 minutes, I paid the deposit. With the current incentives, 150 points just made sense. My guide (hi Rob!) even works out of the VDH so I was even like wait... are you there right now? I can literally hear the background music. Which is a magical touch when running numbers if you ask me. 😂

Now I've diversified my DVC portfolio to include DISNEYLAND. I'm so happy. DLR is my absolute favorite and I've been lucky enough to stay at VDH about 3 times or so now. I love it every single time.

I love the walk to and from the parks. I love the Monorail. I love the vibe of the grounds and the pools. I love the Studios I've tried and the 2-bedroom as well, which you NEED home resort advantage if you want to try to get.

Plus, my DLR trips are averaging close to annual now. Used to be bi-annual and the only thing I can book with resale points is GCH which is damn near impossible to get into. (Although I ended up booking my bday at GCH with these new points because in some topsy turvy situation, I could get 4 nights together there but not at VDH. 😂 Looking forward to that 11 month advantage!)

And if you think that I only added on a lifetime contact because of how much I love the pancakes with passion fruit and macadamia nuts at Tahitian Terrace, I will not be justifying that with a response.

My new guide works out of VDH too, best to stick with our guides 🤣

Does the hotel have dedicated 2 bedrooms or are they all lockoffs?

I'll also say that I'm super happy about my decision to buy Poly... but I'm still a little torn because I ALSO want to buy VDH. If they do something crazy for the next incentive in February to make VDH more compelling, I'm not sure I won't be having my own thread just like this. 😂

The 70th discount is pretty spicy. I think now is the time to get in while sales are still low 😆
