Free Dining 2013

Yes Spanish is the best way to shorten the time on Hold. When Stay/Play/Dine offer started in October 2012. People on the disboards were reporting 45 to 60 minutes on hold. My TA did not even get on Hold when she called in Spanish.

It pays to be bilingual. I never had a hold when there is FD offered.;)

Called at 7:30 and only on hold for 15 minutes.

Got Coronado Springs for 8 nights from Sept 6-14 with FREE DINING!!!!

Yay - congrats! CS? Hmmm, for some reason, I thought you mentioned you were staying at POR. :confused3 Guess I won't be passing you in the lobby there then. We're staying in royal room at POR from Sep 12 - 21.
Ah well, I am very glad you got the FD - would be a gross miscarriage of justice if one of the primary people letting the rest of us know about the FD offer coming up didn't get to take advantage of it as well.
Thank you so very much for all of your help & good information. Being able to take advantage of the FD offer has saved us about $1500 (3 adults & 1 child).

Congratulations to everyone who's already gotten the FD offer & good luck to those who are still waiting to do that. pixiedust: :goodvibes

I knew it would be today. Although there is always that possibility for something to change, so far it has not. You are usually right on the mark.

I am not a Disney Visa Cardholder (unable to being Canadian. Hopefully that changes someday.)

I was wondering if there was anywhere that we can use the Disney Visa site to run numbers? I'm trying to figure out the difference between a 10 night stay at POR that includes the Basic Dining and 10 nights at Pop Century, paying the additional cost to upgrade from Quick Service to Basic Dining.

Does anyone know if there is a place to run these numbers without being an actual Disney Visa cardholder?

TIA!

Thank you!! I'll wait until tomorrow before I panic. ;)

If it would make you feel better (and ensure a better night's sleep tonight), try calling back later today when things might have calmed down a little to confirm that the FD discount was applied to your ressie.

You can't do that on the Chase Visa site, but your can do it on the WDW site. Just price out your POR package with no DDP added and that would be your total on a FD package. Price out the Pop reservation and don't add dining, but if you want to know the upgrade cost, just add
$18 per adult and $3 per child, per night, and that will give you the total for a FD package at Pop with DDP upgrade.

You can figure it out by taking the difference between QS and TS plans, which is about $18 per day for adults and about $3 per day per child, and adding it to the daily room rate at POP. If that total is less than the daily rate at POR then the lower cost will be at POP. :)

Fingers crossed that FD is still available for WL Villas when the general public can call in!

You can do it in the Disney website not the Visa, just enter dates, the resort, type of room, dinnin plan ... etc. Try 1 resort first later the other, write everything down and do the math. :)

More stressful than I anticipated. I had a Bounceback at CSR with free dining for four adults. Two aren't coming now and since I've done the regular DDP so much I decided to save the money (means an extra trip) we would change to POP and see how the QSD worked out, then use my TIW card for a few table meals. More freestyle. I had been told you couldn't downgrade, only upgrade a bounceback. So for months I have waited for the FD decision.

Plan was to wait for the DV FD, was going to book all new then cancel the other. TWO minutes on hold to start. Well the first CM, although extremely nice, said I had to modify the other since same dates and my name. She began the process, kept trying to switch me to someone, said she could do it and then after 20 minutes she said the dreaded words "POP Century has no rooms left". I really had no backup plan, I didn't expect that until later in week. :worried: Breathe. Then she said she had to switch me she couldn't do it afterall.

Got a great guy and while he had to bounce back and forth to yet another department, he actually said while I was past the date to change my Bounceback they would be glad to attach the new free dining to my AX credit card or they could move it to Disney Visa. I said I didn't care, whatever was easiest, I just want POP :bitelip: Off he went and came back with ...

POP Century, noted my location request, the right price, free dining, same reservation number, same credit card and it is showing up correct online when I looked. It took 50 minutes to complete my process, and maybe yet another CM would have just booked on Visa and cancelled the other but all is well now. :yay: Back to focusing on our 9 day trip in three weeks.

SO, the moral is, one CM may say a resort is not available .... but another might say it is!!

I made my ressie online last night then called this morning to add my Dis Visa Free Dining code. Took only 17 minutes on hold then 5 minutes with the cast member. I called at 7:45 am central time. :cool1:

Thank you we haven't really considered the All Stars because we heard the buses are slow, what is your take on that?

I've stayed in the All Star value resorts (sports, movies & Pop) many times. Don't recall any major problems with buses. It is a little longer drive to the parks than some other resorts closer in might be, but other than that, should be fine.
This will be my first time staying at a moderate rather than value resort so really looking forward to that "added luxury". :yay:

Well I'm thinking the CM I booked with last night was confusing the RO discount with FD at the end of August so it looks like she was wrong.
I knew it wasn't definite but I'm really disappointed because the TA I was going to book through had a fantastic deal for YC that same week and he never saw my email about booking it until they were already sold out. I'm waiting to hear back from him about GF for that same week but I doubt it will be as good as the YC deal. Now, its going to be really hard to pay that much for the 5 of us to be crammed in POR, the FD dining would have been worth it but without it not so much.
I'm glad you guys are getting it!

Called at 10am (EST) and only waited for about 5 minutes tops. It was super easy and got the FD for Sept. 22 - Sept. 29 at All Star Movies. Maybe the waits are not as long since they haven't put it on their website yet? Just a thought.

But I am SUPER grateful to this board and the "Magical" people on here because without it, I would not have known that it was available now!! So THANK YOU!!!! :goofy:
