FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

Jen

So sorry about your loss. :grouphug: I have a really beautiful poem I will pm to you later. I lost my mom 4 years ago and I still read this book/poem again and again - I find it comforting...

Rhonda

If you want a copy of the book - just pm me your address and I would be happy to send you copies for yourself and your nieces...

I hope I do not offend anyone; I am just trying to pass on information regarding a couple of books which helped our family through some rough times.

From reading these boards it sounds like a lot of us have young children. When DD was three she asked how babies are made; we pulled out the books and discussed how babies are made - even used one of my college bio books because she wanted to see “an egg”. We also discussed how this was information she should not share with her classmates – it was up to their parents to talk with them about how babies are made. That discussion was fairly easy (although in her school “bring home packet” for the next couple of weeks there were pictures of sperms and eggs….and babies…). And then that phase passed.

The next year Granny died and DD started obsessing about death. This time rather than just relying on my knowledge, I questioned a colleague who teaches classes pertaining to death and dying, what books would he recommend for a young child? Two of the books ended up being DD’s favorites (and mine). I am a pantheist, my spouse agnostic; our extended families are Christian, Jewish, and Native American (as are our ancestors). The books I am recommending have been used by many family members of different beliefs and all have agreed that they are great for small (and big) children.

(my favorite, although it made me cry):
The Blue Roses by Linda Boyden

(DD’s favorite)
Gentle Willow by Joyce C Mills

UGH! I DESPISE pantyhose too! If I am wearing a dress, say to a wedding- legs MUST be SPRAY TANNED no matter if I am wearing open or closed toed shoes!

If I am wearing a casual dress in the winter I will do thicker leggings. I think they look cute with a casual skirt or dress.

No hose!:snooty:

Me, too!! And when I worked for a bank in SC, they required hose...absolutely, they would send you home. So I would wear those garterless stockings by Hanes, which were nice except they would slip sometimes..oops.....and then (this is REALLY TACKY) I would wear really long dresses/skirts with knee highs....:rotfl: Anything for a liitle air down there...:rotfl:

Well first thank you to all the postings. I not only sign up for my self but I have been sending some to DD who is away at college. She loves getting mail and when she calls she always lets me know what she found in her mail box. (DH said this is my way of making sure she checks in ) but she does love them. All her friends in her dorm are asking how she gets them

Direct them to our thread!! The more the merrier!

April-just read your YOAMD post. That was a beautiful day for your family. For the record, we were in the parks 8 days and never even SAW any of the dream team. We saw maybe 2 families with the dream fastpasses but that's it.:sad2: I was kind of disappointed but we did have lots of CM's that made the stay special by giving us buttons, stickers and one that gave DD and DS pins.:cool1: Also, April, what's the deal on the Contemporary DVC? That's the first I've seen or heard about it.

This has been a good freebie week. While gone I got the Simply Nutrilite bar(haven't tried it though), a toothpaste sample, coupons for ChickFilA, coupons from vocalpoint for a free box of crackers from kashi. Since we got back I've gotten tampons, snack crackers and the robes from Nautica. Those look really nice and I need a new robe. I can't decide whether to use it or save for a gift.:confused3 I used one of the ChicFilA coupons yesterday and they gave me waffle fries also. Are they doing this for everyone? It was yummy too. I hadn't eaten there in years but really enjoyed it.

OOOH I'm so jealous you got the robes from Nautica ! I can't wait I'm hoping to get those & knock off my bil & sil (not literally) just off my xmas list. They are very (how can I say this politely) sophiscated people & our family is more down to earth. Are the robes nice ? I can't wait to get mine. I sent in the paperwork right on the deadline I hope I make it. It'll save me a good chunk of $ on gifts for them. They're the type of people that will throw a gift away if they don't like it & then tell another relative about your crummy gift. The joys of family :rolleyes1

I got my best freebie ever today. My Marlboro flash light and it even came with a four pack of energizer batteries. It's a very nice flash light.

I never seem to get any of the freebies from Walmart - does anyone else feel this way?

WALMART freebies always come. My mother gets them too.

I just received an email from jockey saying that they are hoping to get the packages out to the winners the first week of November!!!! What are they doing??? Growing the cotton? Or is there suddenly some underwear shortage?:confused3

OMG, It's a Happy Day...I didn't realize that YOU were the bikini waxing lady!!!That post is the funniest post on the Disboards, tied only with the "Monster Under the Seat". Both are being lauded on this thread....congrats!!?

I discovered my tag after some time so I never could figure out what post prompted it's creation, but I know it was before that post. I went back and read all my posts when I saw the tag but I have no clue as to what the reason for it was :confused3 It will forever remain a mystery to me.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It's too bad you aren't the person who experienced that! I'm not sure I've ever read anything that hysterical before! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh...I didn't realize the Dr. Pepper coupon was only for the restaurant.

This was what it says when you "lose":
Sorry you didn't win, but Free Dr Pepper® is on the way! You will be receiving a coupon for a Free Large Dr Pepper in the mail in six-to-eight weeks. And there is more good news, you can come back tomorrow for another chance to win a trip or free Chick-fil-A® food for a year.

Coupon will be sent via U.S. mail. Allow six-to-eight weeks for delivery. Coupon expires 2/29/08. One coupon per person. Redeemable only at participating Chick-fil-A® locations.

Well, I would love your coupons.
I take my boys to get allergy shots every Friday morning at 7:00am and the routine is to stop at Chic-Fil-A every time. Sure soda in the morning is a bad thing, but so is having to get shots. :rotfl:
