Question as I have not been to Disney since the new Fast pass system started. Can you still get fast passes the old way? (Go up to ride, swipe ticket and get a pass) or do you have to get the bands? And how do you get one? I am planning a trip July 19-27 (haven't booked yet as I have to set up dialysis first which unfortunately is a slow process). Thanks.

Nope they are all on the bands, or if you have a Plastic ticket you swipe those as you go into the fastpass line. All fastpasses are online no paper anymore. once you have your My Disney Experience account , you link your tickets and than make your selections. If you stay on site you will get bands upon check in (i think) since you are so close to your trip.

IF you are staying on site, your magic bands are sent to you approximately 30 days before your trip. I had mine packed in my overnight bag (didn't want to lose them). I really liked having it for everything. If staying offsite, you get a plastic card you swipe at the entrance to the ride.

Thanks. I am actually staying with a friend off site. But am planning on purchasing the ticket in advance (4 day pass).

Then it would be a good idea for you to make sure you have your tickets at least 30days BEFORE you arrive, so you can book FP+ via an MDE account.

One option, if time is short, and you have a AAA membership, is your local AAA office. Even if you aren't a member, it could be worthwhile to become one, for al the other discounts.

Yes, I do have AAA. So it would be better to go to my local AAA to purchase the tickets?

Yes. You should also set up your MDE account online.

If you have a smartphone, it's easier to scan your tickets (to link them to your MDE account) than to enter the code numbers online.

Then at the 30 day mark, you can get your FPs. Do so at midnight if you want to see Anna and Elsa, otherwise first thing in the morning should be fine.

Who is Anna and Elsa?

Oh dear, clearly you have been living under a rock the last 6 months. ;):) Have you heard of a little movie called Frozen? They are the Princesses (well technically Elsa becomes Queen) from that.

Have you been lucky enough to escape hearing the song Let it Go 10 times a day every day? Not that it is not a great song, but it has been 6 months and DD still belts it out every single day.

(By the way- no offense intended- I'm just teasing. :) Actually Anna and Elsa have created a MK stampede in the mornings they are so popular. Think the TSM morning run times 10. Their standby wait times are typically in the 3 to 5 hour range!!!!)

All your FP (now FP+) have to be set up either on the Disneyworld website, the app, or at a kiosk in the park. If you have a smart phone I would strongly suggest going ahead and getting the MDE (my disney experience) app installed on it so that you can play around with it and be real familiar with how it works. Also, I don't know how much you know about the new system. You are initially limited to setting up 3 per day in a single park. Also EPCOT is tiered, so you can not get both Soarin and TT initially, and DHS is also tiered. They recently have made a change where after you utilize the first 3, you have a rolling 4th. That means after you use all 3, you can get a 4th, and after that one a 5th etc. Also, my understanding is then you can get another one from Tier 1 also (i.e. if you had Soarin earlier, you can get TT with the rolling). Right now you have to go to a kiosk to get the 4th, you can't do it on your phone. The problem is what is left by the time you have used your initial 3. Plus if you decide to initially get one for Fantasmic, Illuminations, or the MSEP, then as you can't get a 4th until you have used those, you are pretty much out of luck.

Well I heard of the movie and the song but never saw it and never heard the song (I listen to my Ipod and select XM stations and that song has never entered these ears). I figured that it was from that movie but wasn't sure.

More suggestions...since you're going at a busy time of year, I'd recommend the approach I used for some friends of mine:
We selected their rides on RideMax. They're going for 5 days, so I suggested 1 day for each park, except allow 2 days for MK.

- For which days/which parks, we used the RideMax recommendations (which also matched easywdw)
- In RideMax, we selected FP attractions (but not times) based on the mesaboy list. (Note that RideMax has tiering built in)
- After plugging in the rides for each park, RideMax generated their touring plans, including FP+ times

Then they got on MDE to select their FPs, based on the FP times in the RideMax schedule, and a few ADRs.

Total planning time:
Time on RideMax planning a 5-day trip: 45 minutes
Time on MDE getting 5 days of FPs: 15 minutes
Time on MDE getting ADRs: 10 minutes

Feel free to PM me if you have questions :goodvibes

I would say consider yourself lucky! Although, as over-played and over-hyped as they are, they really are a great song and a pretty good movie. Some of us are just a little tired of the kids' obsession with it! You ought to give the movie a try sometime. Plus, if you watch Once Upon a Time on ABC at all, you might want to be up on Frozen before the fall season starts as apparently three of the Frozen characters are being writen into the show.

Have a great trip! Hopefully FP+ won't give you too much trouble. We don't really like it that much, but it is nice having that first FP of the day already booked so there is no more making a run for a FP the minute you walk in the park. It really would be best if you got an MDE account set up, got your tickets purchased and linked, and were able to get your FP+ picked and selected prior to your trip (preferably 30 days out- as the people staying onsite have 60 days, so they are already 30 days ahead of off site people). If you do not set up MDE or FP+ ahead of time, then once you hit the park you have to go to a kiosk to book your FP+, and that means long lines and leftover FP+ times.
