FP plus exec gone, how many more will follow?

It appears ole' Nick had Harry use the Expelliarmus spell on him. Just think of all the Universal execs that will be asked to leave soon because of all their recent success.:rolleyes1

Besides, there is only so much to go around...

From reading the press release, it sounds like he is probably headed to a new corp with a higher paycheck and a promotion.

We will never know if the whole MM system was over-budget or not unless we are on the board of directors. We don't know the amortization schedule or the projected gains over the next fiscal year or five. We are speculating on things that we know nothing of. We will never know what the true roll-out plan for FP+ was or is or even what the final shape of it will look like.

Judging from the responses on the boards and word of mouth I have received, the system is much preferable to the old system for many guests. The super-users find it limiting, but the folks I have talked to have been very happy with the product.

Yes, and I'm sure the fact that he was relieved of his MM+ duties about a month after Mr. Iger experienced magic band glitches himself is just a coincidence.

Maybe he can put that part on his new resume?

The answer is sometime the simple one.

He had been with Disney for 17 years, and was probably hoping to move up the ladder even more. He was already an executive and was maybe aiming for the CEO position when Iger will leave.

They probably told him he wouldn't get the position and that he would stay put.
Therefore, he's leaving to go somewhere else in hope of landing a better position, probably as a president or ceo.

I didnt see that in the press release, that he is going to a new, bigger job. This is what I read...

"A Disney spokeswoman told the Sentinel it was Franklin’s decision to leave the company, as he wants to assist other companies in innovating the way they provide their products and services, as he did at Disney with MyMagic+."

How's that going to work out...?

What's the first line on his Resume Cover Letter going to be:

"If you like your Infrastructure Projects 1.5 billion dollars over budget, 2 years behind schedule, and like to roll it out to your customers before it's ready so you can get a big kick out of all of their pain as their reservations disappear into the ether..... I'm your man!!"

Good luck

MY guess would be overbudget and technical problems. Example was somebody posted today that they lost there SDMT FP. OF course I believe the 2 are tied together. The technical problems led to having to hire more programmers to fix it. Hence overbudget.
Despite some threads, the FP- vs FP+ debate has had little if any to do with it. The wait times at POTC and HM has had little if any to do with it. Many guest probably dont even recognize the 5-10 minute average longer wait. The technical problems lead to mad customers. Over budget leads to too much off the bottomline. Execs are released for BIG issues. In this case too many technical problems and overrun of budget.

Strange....how many Comcast execs have lost their jobs due to their company's complete inability to keep half of my HD channels from tiling or my internet going in and out?
Wherever there is profit, there are execs.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY to read this! This FP+ was the most idiotic idea in ages, and they have made some others! I sure hope a few more heads roll!

If you read Business Week, several weeks ago there was an article that included customer complaints (all aspects) of FP+ which, likely, added to the reasons the bozo was fired.

The article says he left by his own choice and that he's not physically leaving until July. If he was "let go" or "forced to resign", don't you think he'd be going a lot sooner than July?

I don't understand why everyone assumes that Disney forced him out because they're not happy with him.

Almost every single statement released from Disney has said that the reaction to MM+ and FP+ is overwhelmingly positive in their eyes. Whether we think that or not, that's the message Disney is projecting.

Don't discount the possibility that his tenure and experience might have meant he was smarter than those around him, saw a train wreck coming, and got off.

No company wants such a brain trust leaving on negative terms. The way the spin is worded sounds very much like what I've seen C-level individuals ASKED to be the public reasons for their departure.

Read the Business Week article. Magic Bands and FP+ are not the same thing. I don't mind the Magic Band but hate the having to plan down exact timing for FP+~ Disney got lots of complaints and when your goal is customer satisfaction, that means a lot. Spouse and I have PAP but when we brought our 6 kids and grandkids for a week in April we didn't buy park hopper because with the idiotic FP+, there was no reason.

I didn't mention magic bands at all, so not sure what you're referring to.

Disney did get complaints, but they themselves have said the response is overwhelmingly positive. So where they may have gotten a lot of complaints (and probably expected when you roll out a new system of this magnitude) they also got way more positive responses.

Do you HONESTLY believe Disney would tell you otherwise??:confused3

I think they lost creditability for sharing how good the feedback is when they deleted the negative comments from their Facebook page.

Absolutely. :thumbsup2

They have the right to do that.

And the public has the right to question every other thing they are told about the project.

I don't know why this guy left or was let go, but I do know that most executives don't leave positions that high up voluntarily. It's not easy to land a job making what he was probably making. But who knows.

You clearly don't work in similar type if companies. This is a very frequent occurance. It's less common for someone to stick around that long in this field. Wouldn't be surprised at all after such a large project rolled out to move on.

Move up after a successful large project, move on after a disappointing one. ;)

Well.... you might be right. But I do think that with the surveys they are sending out they are getting more positive responses than negative.

FB comments... I didn't realize they deleted those LOL.
