FP+ FAQ Update - No FP- for FP+ Users

i really think this is only going to be an issue for a short time, until they take out the FP- machines and have everyone use FP+ (whether resort guests prior to visit, or same day for others). it will just be a new way of pulling fast passes when it's fully implemented. during the time when the machines are still in the park, though, it will be confusing and frustrating all around.

the other thing about the new FAQ: they do not mention at all how many FP+ selections you get. there's one question in particular that is interesting:

Q: Can I select more than one FastPass+ attraction?
A: Yes. You can even request multiple FastPass+ selections per day...

https://db.tt/2O0Fo5CB

to me, that seems to imply that either a) eventually different levels of resorts will get different numbers of FP+, or b) eventually they will throttle the number of FP+ you get based on projected crowds that day. either way, it seems to imply that the magic number 3 might not stick. but who knows.

Anyone actually been denied legacy FP- or KTTW cards yet?

A first hand report from today would be very reassuring.

Officially panicking and praying for light crowds! I am REALLY regretting volunteering for the Magic Band test!! Why didn't I just say no?

Has anyone called and successfully dropped out of the test after agreeing to participate?

This is probably just me being a dummy but I have some clarification questions.

We're going the first week of December, staying on rented DVC points, and bought tickets from UCT. They are plastic tickets but I was eventually able to link them to MDE (drama!) and dutifully made my FP+ choices. Upon changing some of those choices, my FP+ got all kinds of messed up. Some are doubled up, some are missing, etc. When I called, they said they couldn't fix it and to give it more time to "self correct" but that if they weren't corrected by the time we go, we should be able to pull FP-. So I've been planning under those assumptions. But after reading on the Dis now I wonder if that would be illegal, immoral, whatever.

Now, getting down to the technicalities here, let's say we check in and they don't give us KTTW, which is fine. If we use our MB to enter the park on the linked UCT tickets and then just happen to have those hard tickets in our hands, would those be able to pull fast passes? Or would we have to enter the parks using those hard tickets, and would that even work? If you use the tickets instead of the MBs for entry, can you then use your FP+ options that are on your MB? I'm not really trying to break any rules. Or maybe I am... which I didn't plan on. I guess I'm just concerned that if the FP+ that we tried to book don't work, is there any way to still pull the FP- we were given as our second option? (And yes, I realize that the CM's you get on the phone don't always give you correct information. I've just been hoping that they did in this case!)

Thanks for helping out a big dummy who's just trying to figure all this stuff out!

whoops, wait a minute. did the FAQ on the website just change, too? was this there before/stated this way?

"Q. If I don’t make FastPass+ selections in advance, will I be able to experience my favorite attractions at the theme parks?
A. All attractions still provide a standby queue—assuming they are not closed for refurbishment. If FastPass+ experiences are still available, you can make FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment online with your mobile phone or at a FastPass+ kiosk when you arrive at the park.

For even more on-the-go flexibility, download the My Disney Experience mobile app to select and modify FastPass+ experiences, plus access your vacation details, maps and up-to-the-minute information.

If you are not FastPass+ eligible, you are still eligible to use FASTPASS service. All FASTPASS tickets are subject to availability and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Over the coming months, FastPass+ service is being tested with a limited number of pre-selected participants. We know that many Guests want to give FastPass+ a try, and we ask for your patience during this testing period."

i could have sworn it was worded differently before, in that you could still pull legacy FP-, without the new wording about "if you are not FastPass+ eligible." some of the additional FAQ info from the app is now there, too. it does still mention the magic number 3, though, rather than "multiple." am i incorrect about the old wording being replaced?

We kinda have the same issue as others. My son and I have AP's and a resort reservation. We were invited to "test" FP+ and MB's. I set up our FP+ and bands but then a couple weeks later my sister found out she could go. She hasn't bought tickets yet and does not have an AP. I called and added her to the reservation and was able to get her a MB but I couldn't add her to the FP+. I called and they said it was because she didn't have tickets linked. However, the person on the phone said that we really should buy her tickets now or else she may not be able to go on the FP+ with us due to capacity. Ack! So, I said that is really bad and I don't know that she can get them yet. They said we could presumably just use our AP's to get regular FP's with her then or she could just wait on us while we ride those 3 rides. The first part of his statement left me believing we could use our AP's for FP- and the second part just seems mean to me (although I guess capacity is capacity :/). Now, I read this and I'm thinking our AP's may not work, her tickets may be purchased to late for FP+ and well...I guess we will enjoy the Christmas decor and atmosphere along with a couple SB rides but still hoping for better.

We were there last weekend. We were signed up for FP+. We also pulled a FP- successfully with KTW.

Don't flame me, please! We used on for Jungle Cruise that still had lots of FP- ones left all day.

I am betting that pool of paper FPs will be much smaller than FP+ during this busy season. This alone would keep anyone with a ticket that could pull paper FPs from really getting any more than those with FP+. Think about those DHS days when all paper FPs were out by 10. If you got to the park at 9 and pulled a paper FP with a return time of 5 or 6, you wouldn't be able to get any other paper FPs. They would all be out before you would be allowed to pull another one. I guess there may be a chance at MK to pull more than 3 but not much if they draw the paper FP pool way down.

They want those using FP+ to be able to change plans on the fly. They would also want there to be FP+ available for those that show up at check in with no pre-book FP+. And I can imagine that those numbers would be large during the busy Christmas season. They need to increase the numbers in the FP+ for this to be possible. This may be what is going to happen. The FP+ pool is going to get much larger and paper FP pool getting much smaller. This would be a way to limit all guest.

FastPass+ – Frequently Asked Questions
Q.

How many FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment am I allowed to make during my entire vacation?
A.

The total number of FastPass+ experiences available to you during your visit depends on several factors including availability and the vacation packages and tickets linked to your Disney account. Generally, FastPass+ eligible Guests are able to select one set of FastPass+ experiences each day for every valid theme park ticket linked to their account.

Depending on availability, you should be able to make up to 3 FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment each day at one theme park.

Makes me think that if you have vacation packages, or type of ticket linked, may depend on how many FP+ you may receive...

I'm logged in, but you know what, I'm not eligible for FP+ yet. My trip is further out, so maybe that's why I don't see it on the App.

That may be why, the option didn't appear until I logged in so I assume it was making sure I was eligible.

i really think this is only going to be an issue for a short time...

I recognize that, but to the people who have vacations during that short time it could make or break our trip.

You are not being a dummy, Disney is just sending out mixed messages - it's not you, it's them ;)

The way it is worded it sounds like you must use your hard tickets to enter in order to use FP- with those tickets. We know that was not the case yesterday from 1st hand reports, but things may switch to that being the case soon based on this FAQ. As for not being able to use your FP+ if you entered using your hard ticket, they are certainly trying to imply that, but as of now that is not the case.

In other words you will just have to keep watching here for real time updates.

No, that was how it always read on the website.

Most likely you will just be able to copy over your FP+ selections to her. If that isn't the case you can just enter using your APs and all pull fastpasses together, this new FAQ seems to only hurt those who bought packages.

I also found the wording to this different on the website too.

That isn't new, it has said that for months now.

I heard that if somebody has FP+ for the day and they try to get a FP- from the FP machine, they can still get the ticket, but the FP+ and the FP- immediately stick together like magnets and can't be separated. What's going on?

This is the way I have remember seeing it since the beginning on the website. I never saw in any of the FAQ anything about paper FPs. I've never been able to look at the app so I don't think I am confused or anything. I just assumed it was because it was a FAQ about FP+ was the reason paper FPs was never mentioned.

i heard they were issuing rulers to CMs so they can start slapping hands at the machines.

:lmao:

I'm ok with regular FPs going away. But at the same time I didn't see it as "double dipping" when park guests have become accustomed to utilizing multiple FPs in multiple parks. How can Disney sell Park Hopper tickets and limit guests to 3 FP+ per day within one park? That is a huge change.
