FP+ FAQ Update - No FP- for FP+ Users

No surprise here. They have always maintained that paper FPs were going away. This is another step in that direction. It is not meant to be a penalty or punishment for anyone.

ETA: Hey OP, could you edit your title to put "faqs" in all caps? Like this- FAQs. With the way thread titles are underlined on the main page...well I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this thread title LOL.

:rotfl2: I saw that too. Had to do a double take!!!

ha, sorry about that. i tend to forget about caps. fixed.

I don't get it. We have PAPs but for out upcoming December trip, I was only allowed to schedule 5 of the 10 days we are going to be there. When I tried scheduling a sixth day, it made me give up one of the previous days we are there. We are staying DVC so it has nothing to do with staying on property. We thought we would at least be able to get paper FP for the other days but since we will have MB, not we won't be entitled to any FP for half of the trip? That's totally messed up

are you staying on site for all 10 days? if so, i think you might want to call disney on that one. if not, maybe it will only let you schedule while you are staying on site? not sure. i would call.

Well for all of those who argued vehemently that if Disney didn't want them double dipping they would tell them.. you've been told.
I agree with the poster that said this is likely gearing up for the very busy holiday season. Double dipping would be a real issue then, and some people having access to both while others can't even get access to any would have made for some very angry customers. Only time will tell if they are able to roll this out in time for the crowds.

i'm assuming this means they will be flipping the switch that was allowing kttw cards to pull FP-. only plastic park tickets that are not tied into the resort system will be allowed to pull them. that is how i read this.

i wonder when they will flip that switch, though. it seems that this is just how it will be when the system goes fully functional. we still don't know when that will happen. until then, the old rules seem to still be in effect.

the day they flip that switch? will be quite a day, indeed. popcorn::

I'd say that day is coming very soon if they bothered to rewrite this into the FAQs.

I am finding this whole thing so confusing. As an early December arrival, we were *invited* to be part of the MB/FP+ testing. The letter even stated that we could opt out and still utilize the old FP system if we chose. I guess my "acceptance" of the invitation was customizing my MB's and making FP+ reservations. It makes me wonder if I hadn't done that, if legacy FP would still be available?

It feels a bit like bait and switch to me, intentional or not. :scratchin I will be interested to see what happens on our arrival day.

Thanks for giving me your read on it. I really wish Disney would give some type of notice before all these darn changes! How about, "Beginning Dec. 1, 2013, such and such will be in effect..." It is frustrating to stumble upon these changes via fellow DISboard members who are kind enough to post "hey, did anyone notice the change in wording under the FAQ's" or "is anyone else getting tiered FP options today, unlike yesterday?". Ugh!!! :crazy2:

I see by your ticker you are just 5 days away from your vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Thanks, I'm sure we will have a great time. Although if I'm truly limited to only 3 FPs per day at MK Mickey might hear some words he isn't used to. I'm not looking to ride headliners over and over, I'm perfectly happy with one FP to TSMM, but I'm not waiting on line at the Jingle Jungle Cruise just because I used my FPs up on the mountains. I never had to before, I'm not going to start now. They are going to have to print me out hard tickets from my package so I can enter with those on my MK day. Punishing people who gave them more money by buying packages is soooo not cool. Basically they are telling you that if you want to use FP- you need to purchase from UT and give them more money.

Like you all I would like is a little blurb that says, starting on such and such date, xxxxx will happen. The not knowing what will be happening on my 10,000 trip is taking away from it. I shouldn't be worried about going to Disney.

regardless of how you enter, it sounds like this settles the question of whether people with magic bands can use legacy fp. i had seen reports where CMs would block people wearing magic bands from using the machines. but guests were being told to use the machines in addition to fp+. i wonder if they will ever get their act together across the board.

I don't think this settles anything, with how bad Disney's IT department is these could be the old FAQ's and the ones on the website could be right. After all when we signed up for MM+ it did say we were allowed to opt out and tour using regular FP-, this FAQ actually says that only applies to people who have separate tickets so people on packages have to use the FP+ or they get nothing.

Unless they limit all tickets to only getting 3 that would be a MAJOR PR nightmare. "Stay onsite and only get 3 FPs while off-siters can pull them all day!"

Right? I can only imagine how the boards will light up then. I'll be arriving on 11/13. I probably won't need more than my 3 at Epcot my first day (got them before the tiers) and I'll be going to Universal on 11/14, but if I'm restricted on 11/15 at MK i will definitely post here.

Well, we made our FP+ selections on the assumption that we wouldn't have access to paper fastpasses, so this will be no big deal to us. We're prepared to stand in some lines.

You've signed your soul over to the devil by getting a magic band. Who cares if it glitches and you wind up with no FPs, you accepted the offer and now you will suffer.

Well aren't you just the compliant little guest. I don't wait in lines. Ever. That is why I chose a less busy time of the year to go. Less crowded plus fastpass keeps me out of lines normally. I have no desire to drop 10,000 to stand in lines.

Frankly - as long as they're not giving FP+ to everyone they should not be interfering with anyone using FP machines with a valid ticket. There are many parties who may tour a park together but not everyone has Magic Bands so you're limited to regular FP. We have APs and bands but our nanny who is coming on our next trip with us do not. I see it as Disney has two choices, give her access to the FP+ like us or let us use the FP machines so we can have FP at the same time. Since we'll be pulling the regular FPs with our physical APs and not KTTW, I'm hopeful those will still work even if they disable the ability for onsite guests with regular tickets to use the KTTW to pull.

Where does it say that? I don't have the paper letter right now, but on the email invitation, it doesn't say that we can still pull FP- (I am going in about two weeks).

As Disney sees it, you have two choices. Don't ride together or don't ride at all. Besides, what are you doing going on rides? You're supposed to be shopping and just soaking up the ambience. ;)

I don't think this is as big a deal as it seems because I think it means (just my opinion) that they are going to roll back the number of paper FPs available anyway. So not sure that people who can pull them are going to be pulling them all day anyway, especially during the busy holiday season. Just a hunch.

Well aren't you just the compliant little guest.

Well aren't you nice and rude? There was really no need, you know.

I'm no Kool-Aid drinker. I just figured that Disney would actually bring the test parameters as they were meant to be online at some point, so I prepared for it by planning Rope Drop days and FP+ selections in the afternoon. And yeah, I *am* prepared to stand in a few lines. That doesn't make me compliant, it makes me a realist.

Let the games begin! :duck:

I wonder though if there's a chance that they are just telling people this for now hoping they won't try, but that it might actually still work.

Or they might have felt they had to with holiday crowds approaching.

I am sorry that people will find themselves in a bad situation based on assurances they got from Disney to the contrary.
