FP+ FAQ Update - No FP- for FP+ Users

Just got off the phone with Disney Customer Service. I will be issued a KTTW pass at check in that will allow me to access fp- at anytime not conflicting with fp+ times. They must be getting an earful because she knew exactly why I was calling. Says fp+ created to allow resort guests to have 3 guaranteed fast passes. Meant to enhance onsite guest experience. I will let you know.....

I don't put much faith in what phone CM's tell me.

I'm confused:/. I never got an email invite for magic bands or fastpass +. But the MDE website showed 5 magic bands for my family and I so i customized them and they arrived today. I went on the website and set up fastpass+ selections which all show up on the MDE app on my phone. However when I tried to modify a selection on my phone (which I will need to be able to do at the parks) it says I'm not eligible for fastpass +. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? We arrive the first week of December. Thanks in advance!

The MDE app is notorious for doing this. I have four people on my account, and when I tried to set up FP+, it would often say that one or the other or some combination of us was ineligible. Just hit the "back" button and try again. You may have to do this a few times - I know I did - but after a few tries, it would accept all of us as eligible. It's just a wonky feature of a wonky app.

So glad to hear I'm not crazy:). Thanks!

I am running version 1.4 of the app on an iPhone 4S. So, maybe this policy hasn't changed and it was worded this way all along?
^^^^ This.

The FAQ on the app has ALWAYS been worded like this (well at least since late August).

In the early "double-dipping arguing hay day", I read the FAQs and it said that guests could not use both FP+ and traditional FP. I recall reading it myself. I mentioned it (loosely) in a post back on 8/25.

Disney agrees with you. They already say that when you are a tester that it is either/or and not both. They don't encourage the use of both systems. The testers are lead to believe that both FP systems cannot be utilized together. The old FP and new FP systems aren't linked, so testers can use both IF they figure that out.

I, as many others, have been a successful double-dipper, double-splitter, and an occasional triple-dipper...all the while when my app FAQ said I couldn't.

Thank you! Please keep us posted!

First hand today: I have a magic band, a kttw card they gave me without my asking and an AP that I just purchased. The FP + I have been able to schedule and change on the go easily although it is very limiting having to be one park per day. I used kttw cards to pull regular FP until I got my AP then they quit working bc I do t use them for admission. Now I pull regular FP with my AP card.

To be clear: you used your AP for park admission, correct? So, the AP is able to pull paper FP while the MB still allows for the FP+ to be accessed?

I'll be arriving on 11/13. I probably won't need more than my 3 at Epcot my first day (got them before the tiers) and I'll be going to Universal on 11/14, but if I'm restricted on 11/15 at MK i will definitely post here.

Like you, I'll be arriving on 11/13, but will be going to MK that day. I have my three FP+ reserved for the mountains, and had planned on pulling a regular FP for the Jingle Cruise. I'll report back how that goes . . .

Thanks for the update on this. I am curious to see how everything works when we are there in mid January. Only having 3 a day with no repeats and the Epcot limit would be a huge negative.

I absolutely agree with you! Epcot is the only place I am worried about.

But Disney clearly plans on stopping this. It really could happen at any time. It is like musical chairs or hot potato, at some point the music will stop somebody is going to be left out of the game.

Or maybe it is duck duck goose?

Just returned from our trip last night and wanted to report back that I was able to pull a regular FP for the Jingle Cruise. I actually think it was the only regular FP we pulled the entire trip.

It was cute, but not quite what I was expecting. I would have enjoyed more decorations and lights. We specifically waited until dark to ride it thinking there would be Christmas lights, but there were very, very few. We had a good skipper, though, who threw in several holiday references in his jokes and made it very enjoyable.

I didn't look back any further but here is a thread from January http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3040847 mentioning that the terms and conditions you agree to state that once your tickets are associated with FP+ you can't use legacy FP's. I agree, the fact you can currently do both is because they are still "testing".

I agree that from what they are saying, when they finally do get everyone, onsite or offsite, hooked up on the new system, then the legacy paper fastpasses will be gone and the old machines removed from the parks.

Does that mean you are going to be permanently limited to only three fastpasses in one park per day and that's it? Three is the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three? Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three? Sorry about the Monty Python segue.

Big problem is, we don't know if that's the case or not.

And unfortunately they are rolling out the system in a way that is making some guests feel as though they are being ripped off because they think there is a major advantage to using the old system over the new one. They really need to get out there and say what the advantages of the new system are beyond "you can book three fastpasses ahead of time."
