was the fp+ faq updated? it now states that if you are eligible for fp+ and enter using magic bands, you may not pull regular fp. i don't recall this being officially said before. it also does not specify how many fp+ selections you will have. it looks like the faq has been both updated and expanded. always this way or new?

When I read through the fine print over a month ago it did not say that. Can you provide a link to the new wording?

it's on the app. go to help center, faqs, then select fp+.

Wow, sounds like they are definitely about to disable pulling FP- with your key to the world card. They do say that you can still pull FP- using tickets though so they are only penalizing people who buy packages it seems. I do not see that particular FP+ FAQ on the website though, only on the app.

i noticed that. on the website, it leaves that question off, and it includes one that says how many fp+ you may get. on the app, it does not include the question about how many you get. interesting.

Yes, I looked through the FAQ on the website and didn't know anything different. But I don't have the app. No smart phone and won't work on our tablet that I bought in part to be able to use MDE. :confused3

OK, i did my very first screen shot from my phone, hope this works:

Since I never looked at the FAQ on the app before I don't know if it is new, I know I never saw it in the FAQ in the website or in the fine print I read when first getting my MBs and FP+. The app was updated today so it may be knew. The wording is awful. Why would they reward people who bought their tickets from outside vendors and limit those that bought packages. I go on the 13th and I'll report what I find then.

So....

I made FP+ selections with an Undercover Tourist ticket. I would rather use the legacy FP than FP+ system. To do so under these new rules, I enter the park using my UT ticket and pull FP's from the machines. Correct? It looks like an either/or situation now. (I have used both FP systems & much prefer the original.) I don't mind opting out of the FP+ since it looks like I have a choice. I guess my question to others is....is that how you read it? If you enter using a theme park ticket you don't have to use FP+?

Sorry to be dense.

That is how I read it too. Of course so far they have not been limiting you to one or the other, but it sounds like they will be starting soon and is sounds like you need to have separate tickets to make FP- work.

Makes me hesitant to use the MB to enter the parks on my trip in December. Maybe use our AP tickets to enter and just use the MB for rooms, fastpass+, and charging.

Thanks for giving me your read on it. I really wish Disney would give some type of notice before all these darn changes! How about, "Beginning Dec. 1, 2013, such and such will be in effect..." It is frustrating to stumble upon these changes via fellow DISboard members who are kind enough to post "hey, did anyone notice the change in wording under the FAQ's" or "is anyone else getting tiered FP options today, unlike yesterday?". Ugh!!! :crazy2:

I see by your ticker you are just 5 days away from your vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time!

I'm thinking it is an either/or as far as the two FP systems go. If you enter the park with AP then you can pull FP's with that. But, having entered with AP, if you put MB-linked KTTW card into FP machine it will spit out "sorry this is not valid" rejection. Also, having entered with AP, if you try to use MB for FP+ it will reject you at FP+ ride entrance with some CM eventually stating since you used AP & not MB to enter park you can't use FP+, just FP. :confused3 Then the opposite would hold true as well. If you enter with MB-linked KTTW card and had your AP number on that, then conceivably the FP machine may not issue a FP using AP based on the fact that it is linked to the FP+ system and you entered park with MB/KTTW rather than AP. Oy vey!!! :scared1:

It doesn't say when this is effective, but I'm sure folks will post when they encounter a change from what it has been. I doubt Disney is going to tell us when this starts.

regardless of how you enter, it sounds like this settles the question of whether people with magic bands can use legacy fp. i had seen reports where CMs would block people wearing magic bands from using the machines. but guests were being told to use the machines in addition to fp+. i wonder if they will ever get their act together across the board.

I think this is just a patch until the paper FP machines go away. Probably so they can increase the number of FP+s and dial back paper machines, in time for the busy holiday season.
