FP+ and Magic Bands for off site guests

Friends are going to Disney at the end of April and staying off-site. If they purchase tickets ahead of time and link to MDE, can they schedule FP+ 30 days prior to arrival? Since they aren't on-site and automatically receiving Magic Bands, will they need to purchase them online ahead of time to use their FP+ once in WDW?

2. Magic bands aren't necessary. They can just use their tickets for FP+

Yup, just purchase the tickets and link them to the mde account. You don't NEED a magicband, they'll get the rfid cards for tickets. However, if they want ride photos, they'll need to touch the card on the photo screen after the ride. No need to do that with the magicband because of long range rfid.

if they purchase and link a ticket ahead of time yes they can make FP+ selections up to 30 days prior.

they can either purchase a magic band online and link it ahead of time or they can purchase when they get there and link it then.

the FP+ does not depend on having a magic band.
they could simply use their park ticket to access the FP+ lines if they choose not to purchase a magic band.
