Ok, 36 days and counting, I decided I would attempt to do a pre-trip report, and hopefully onto a live trip report for the first time.

Bama Ed inspired me with his recent pre and live trip reports. So many great photos especially of the fort. They came at just the right time as we are weathering the last of a winter that won't quit and looking forward to our trip. Thanks Ed!

I am not a huge poster here but we have taken countless tips and advice off these boards. This will be my first attempt at posting pictures so if they don't work right away bear with me.

A bit about us; after a recent addition to our family, we have eight children. This will be the youngest's first trip to Disney, also a record for our kid's youngest trip to Disney as he will be 3 months, the previous record was 9 months. In addition my wife and I we have DS19, DS17, DS16, DS12, DD10, DD4, DS2, and DS 6 weeks.

So here we go, it finally warmed up enough here, and stopped snowing long enough for the snow to melt off the motor home. So this weekend I was finally able to go out and open up the slides and start checking it over a bit closer.

You can see Sulley is already packed and ready to go in the front window.

The kids won that little chipmunk spy guy hanging in the front window from Chip and Dale at our last trip to the Fort. Since then he somehow finds his way around the house hanging from chandeliers and banisters and anything else with height. Not sure when he made his way to the RV but he clearly means to hitch a ride back to the Fort to see his old pals.

Of course we have already started to pack the necessities for a three day drive and two weeks at Fort Wilderness.

That pic didn't come out the best, but you can never go wrong with popcorn, pudding, and cookies.
and of course

That is all I have for now, looking forward to arriving, we will be there May 16 - 30th. I can already hear the boat whistles.

Great job on the TR so far. :thumbsup2 Hope the weather holds and you have safe travels to the Fort. :drive:
Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

Thanks for the pre-TR, MightyX. Tell us where/what state you're coming from? The snow looks like it's just about melted.

I'm gonna settle in with a big ol' bowl of popcorn and follow this one.

Our reservation starts May 30th at the fort however I have a week reservation for the same time in Destin Florida. If the weather and beach is nice at that time we may delay our fort trip until June 2nd. I grabbed 30 days at the Fort just in case :)

We will be coming from North central MN, it is about a 1,700 mile trek to Dis.
The last couple days it actually hit 60s which was a big help in melting the snow, although the ice on the lake is still nearly 3 feet thick so it might be a while before we are swimming.

wow sounds nice, wish we could stay that long. Usually we go in Feb but with kids in college now we have to work with their schedules. Hope it isn't to busy/ HOT for us this time.

I went to Home Depot this past weekend hoping to get a start on a Mickey Lamp Post, They didn't have any 12" globes, they didn't have any at menards either.

I will see if I can get it online, hopefully I will get the project done before we leave. but it comes behind about 1,342,103 other unfinished projects on my list, maybe I will have to give it a little bump.

At our local HD about 3 years ago they had 12" acrylic globes on clearance, we bought the whole lot. They are still availible only ship to store. We also found that everyone went from the 1 piece light posts to the 2 piece. We now have to order that online as well. But once you have the process down and documented, making them is only a few hours work with some drying time in between.

Well Mightyexplorers, I'll be following this TR to see how it's done with 8 kids . DH and I usually travel alone to the Fort, or with adult "kids". Will be nice to get another view from a big growing family. I am sure everyone will enjoy your report, Good job so far, :cheer2: so carry on...

Following along! We are making our first trip to the fort with four kids. Looking forward to hearing more!!

Well yes from that pic it does. This is the view from our back deck it still has a little way to go.

Dayum! I'll be potting my tomato plants outside this weekend in containers and watching the Masters. Is there good fishing in that nearby frozen lake?

Bama Ed

PS - I used to live up in the very North East corner of Ohio and we would get the moisture blowing off Lake Erie dumping massive snowfalls on us (Lake Effects). It could vary 6-12 inches in 20 miles it was so bad. So I understand the snow melting in April but, brother, I don't miss it.

Can't wait to hear more! We have six kids and we are hoping to take our first Fort trip in the fall. We have a new travel trailer (It's really my ten year old daughter's TT. It was her wish from Make-A-Wish!) and we are trying to figure out our organization system. Would love to see more pics of how you pack for a large family!!

Fun times! We took the 'jug o wine' with us. Nothing better than a glass ( or two) after a long park day. Can't wait to hear more.
