Former NBA player Lamar Odom found unresponsive..

At this point it might behoove them to release an official statement on his condition. All of this crazy "insider" information is making people very confused. One report says he is opening his eyes and wanting to see his kids, another is saying any movement is involuntary, some are saying he is brain dead, some are saying doctors have no clue at this point, and it just goes on and on.

this is exactly what i was thinking. The conflicting information is crazy. If there is a chance, no matter how remote, that he can pull through this, I hope it happens.

It could be a timing thing too. The TMZ statement was at 10:57am and the ET article came out at 11:30 am. I'm holding out hope.

I am hopeful he is making progress. Hopefully he is opening his eyes and starting to communicate.

Not if he has no brain response. You begin losing brain cells within 4 minutes of oxygen depravation. The heart is just a muscle. As an athlete, I'm sure his heart is strong. You can rebuild the heart muscle somewhat. You can't rebuild dead brain cells.

Medicine can keep a body alive for years with no brain response. If that's a good thing or not is a very personal opinion. But it's not something I'd want for myself or my loved one.

Now doctors are saying he is conscious and breathing on his own! WOW. This morning he was declared brain dead according to multiple sites, that report was obviously wrong. Hope he continues to improve.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. Tmz is saying the doctors called it a good sign and thatthe still has hope of recovery. I don't think he's been officially declared brain dead. Damage maybe, but not brain dead yet. He was not without oxygen nearly as long as Bobbi Christina.

I think TMZ said that post by a website called TMZtoday was a hoax and TMZtoday is not affiliated with TMZ. So far, this TMZtoday site is the only place that alleges Lamar was pronounced brain dead.

ETA- I just read something that made me understand that it was actually Radar Online saying it and a few other news outlets have picked up the story.

I think he was brain dead the day he married Khloe.

That said, I'm glad he's come out of his coma, and hope he'll be o.k.

Doctors now expect Odom to survive. It's going to be long hard road and a lot of work...months of speech and physical therapy. I suspect the issues with his kidneys and liver will be ongoing , but haven't heard many specifics....only some damage from the overdose/stroke will be permanent .

I am still stunned, that he is expected to make a significant recovery. He was in very bad shape. Guess, it wasn't his time. I hope he uses this gift wisely.
