Former Lasagne Lovers Meet Here!!!

I loved School House Rock!!!

My favorite was the Great American Melting Pot:

My grandmother came from Russia
A satchel on her knee,
My grandfather had his father's cap
He brought from Italy.
They'd heard about a country
Where life might let them win,
They paid the fare to America
And there they melted in.
Lovely Lady Liberty
With her book of recipes
And the finest one she's got
Is the great American melting pot.
The great American melting pot.

America was founded by the English,
But also by the Germans, Dutch, and French.
The principle still sticks;
Our heritage is mixed.
So any kid could be the president.

I love that!

Did you guys know that you can find all of the shorts on You Tube? I have the multiplication ones in my favorites for my DD :teacher: (and yes, I know that's addition, LOL).

Great to know. Repetition is a great strategy!

My nephew needed to be licensed to practice in three states (none of which, unfortunately, provides reciprocity to the other), which meant the bar three times. His experience mirrored what AP stated on his first experience and only studied a few weeks for the subsequent exams. But, then, he is a very smart guy (and makes the money to prove it)!:)

That's wonderful that he is so smart that he doesn't need to study. I'm just saying that studying hard does not denote one as being any less intelligent. Everyone has their own way and own pace of learning. After all, it's not how fast you learn it, but how much of the info you retain.

Studying does not give you skills in logical reasoning, which is a large part of the bar exam. While studying could assist you on the multistate part of the exam, it will not carry the day on the essay part of the exam.

Information retention is a component of intelligence, IMO.:) But, I certainly wouldn't want anyone's feelings to be hurt because they don't comprehend the subject matter as quickly as others, like AP and my nephew; slow doesn't mean bad, just different, right.:thumbsup2

Next topic --- battle of the sit-com stars :who would win the battle?

Starsky or Ponch?

I see we have guests. :goodvibes

I guess salad just isn't a meal by itself. Pasta on the other hand is quite substantial I've found. Love it! Yummmm.

So I see my topic of conversation has been just that. Cool. I forgot about it the moment I posted. :rotfl:

I was listening to Carly Simon today and I just love her. Loved the song she sings in Piglets Big Movie. Of course I'm a fan of most of her songs.

What are y'all's favorites? popcorn::

You're So Vain (but a close second is her duet with James Taylor on Mockingbird - would be my first but it's a duet and not her solo).

You guys tried to ditch me, but I found you.

A private board for political discussion would be nice. :) Just don't ditch me.

we are desperate for rain. we already had water restrictions (can water outside three days a week between certain hours), but in certain areas they're cutting back to two days.

We have plenty you can have. :sad2:

funny you should ask. i made a chocolate cake today.

Funny, I'm just about to do the same. Must be a chocolate cake kinda day.

does banana pudding count. ... my little one loves banana pudding. Oh remember those banana flip things - like a banana flavored twinkie thing.

I like the stuff where ya put the vanilla wafer cookies in the bottom of the bowl, pour vanilla pudding over the whole thing, when slice bananas all across the top and top with whipping cream. Oooooh yummy.

Everytime I hear the word arugula all I can think of is Steve Martin's character in My Blue Heaven. :rotfl:

:lmao: Yup.

Hey, wait for me! I haven't opined about my School House Rock preference...okay, here goes: Preamble...

well, that was exciting...

Fave Carly Simon song -- You're so vain, hands down...I belt it out and can even remember the third verse.

Sit-com? which Arnold and which Webster? If Horseshack, then yes....if someone else, I'm not sure.

And Ravencotysgrandma - wow, everything seems to happen at once, doesn't it? Thanks for letting us know - PLEASE keep us posted  Thank you for doing such a good job with your children that they're willing to make these sacrifices for us. :worship::worship:
