i always ask what they thought of american food when they first arrived in america. must seem so bland.

No, wish I knew how. I love me some samosa. Mmmmm. And curry gosht with garlic naan, but you wouldn't eat that.

My DS's future in-laws are Indian ; their parents and extended family are all from India. DH grew up next to Roy and his parents, they're like another mom and dad to him. He grew up eating the food and learning some Malialim (sp?). I had adopted Indian parents in high school. I was at their house more than their own kids. :lmao: I was supposed to go to India with them but I ended up getting married so I never got to go.
Roy and his DW have a daughter who was born Sept 2007 (a few months older than DS) so we four decided that DS and their daughter would get married in 18 years. :rotfl:

my friend kept telling me how to make stuff...it all had cumin seed, mustard seed, garlic, onion, and hing (i have to keep this in a zip lock bag in a plastic container...it smells like natural gas). in the fridge is the stuff i can't remember the name of with garbanzo beans, all of the above except hing, and cilantro, tomatoes, peppers. delish. i'm also a fan of baji and rasmalai (but i'd like more sugar in that).

so i could eat your garlic naan with some dal. oh...and i love roti.

so if that wedding did happen, i'd need to see pictures. indian weddings are sooooo beautiful.

Those sound goooood. I also like pakora.

Oh, the wedding will happen. :lmao:
They are beautiful. DH helped officate Roy's wedding and he brought back lots of pictures (I didn't get to go). He did bring back a red and gold silk sari for me, though, as a present from his "adopted" Indian mom.

my bother and sil (yes, i spelled it without an "r" on purposes...'cause the way i spelled it is more accurate) live in so-cal, and they were telling me about an indian restaurant down there which they love. they will travel any number of miles to get there. apparently it is southern indian cuisine, which i think is my favorite. when you move i'll be sure to point you in that direction.

Do so but we won't go any number of miles way out of the way for it. We'll have to learn to make it at home. :goodvibes

Your 'bother'. That's good. :rotfl: I call my former second step-mother a 'step-monster' because that accurately describes her.

we love our indian food and nicknames. :teeth:

swiss for me, too - and I'm extra hungry tonight...could I have Wonder's patty too?

About Indian food, I don't know enough about it to have too many preferences but I do like chicken khorma with naan....funny thing is, I found out, not too long ago, that expats from India created chicken khorma for their Brit counterparts...it's not really Indian. A bit like fortune cookies not being Chinese.

Way off any topic. I haven't caught up on this thread for theweekend, but thought I would mention that there was a shot of my DH on the Memphis new tonight. He was working a fire at a house and they were filming parts of it. He doesn't mind as long as he doesn't have to talk.

sad about the fire but that's cool about your DH...

still can't get over how long his commute must be....whew!

Your DH is a fireman? That's awesome! My DH's grandfather was a fireman for 26 years. :thumbsup2 They are definately a class unto themselves.
Do you mean Memphis, AR or Memphis, TN?

- we gave away the real patty, right? not my feat? :)

- there are some people i haven't seen around here for a while! where did "aristocat" go for instance?

- honu, how are you doing? one week closer to riding your horse, right?

- sd, whassup?

- soarin'...um...helllooooooo?

Of course. None of the rest of us eat feat. :upsidedow

Man, the news is depressing. This woman went into her job and left her one year old in the car alone. The baby died.
And this father about an hour away from us murdered his 5 kids after he suspected his wife of having an affair. He then killed himself.
What the crap is wrong with people?!

I try to check in here, but I'm having a lot of fun on a forum I found that discusses/debates current issues and politics. Just goes to show that everything happens for a reason and works out for the best in the end.:thumbsup2 I'll still stop by the DIS when I'm planning a trip or in the mood for some CB fluff.;) Stay well my conservative friends, and keep up the good fight wherever you may wander.:goodvibes

Hey wonder! :goodvibes How are you? I actually thought about you the other day! I was looking in a collectibles store and they had some Alice figurines. :thumbsup2 Hope all's well with you.

I'm spending hours upon hours printing out menus for our WDW trip. I'm printing out the menus for all the TS places we have ADRs for, and most CS and snack type places in the parks. organize it, and put it in a binder, divided into sections. While it sounds silly, it's quite helpful. Helps us budget food money, and I discover new goodies to try. I never knew the Studios had a smoothie kiosk, because I've never been over to Rock 'n Roller Coaster. Now I can add that to the ever growing snack list. :rotfl:
