I work for an insurance company, you would be surprised how often it happens. We see it more in small business, it’s unusual that a company as large as Disney doesn’t have strong accounting controls. Typically it’s a bookkeeper or treasurer with control of the books on their own. It does follow a pattern, a little at a time over a period of a couple years before it is discovered. My bet is she created fake reservations and funneled the money through them.

I work for an airline and every once in a while we have a case where someone tries to cheat the system with refunds or other kinds of payments. With these systems nowadays, it is always possible to trace it back to a certain account, computer, log in times, etc. It really is the stupidest thing to do.
