?? for the ladies who have leg tattoos

It would not be visible unless I wanted you to see it. No, not a tramp stamp. For that reason alone. That and I am 40 (will be 41 by then) and wear mom jeans and not tramp stamp material. trust me.

Another great tag... :lmao:

Aw crap. Don't make me go all "black belt" on you. Shhhhh no calling the TF.

I am seriously considering getting a black belt tattoo when I achieve the rank of black belt. I hear that may be around June of this year. My only concern is where (probably hip area) and actual design.

My plan is to get the Korean characters for Tang Soo Do on one shoulder, and the characters on my BB (I forget the translation but one character is the one for way of life) on the other shoulder

Hey Kalen, how about something like this

on your upper arm or your shoulder? Or maybe the Kanji for blackbelt?

I like that Claire. I'll have to keep that in my photobucket. Arm or shoulder though, I don't know. I still say hip but am not sure. How much ya think that would cost?

As for the oriental words/symbols.... I'm always afraid some wise guy is going to tell me it means _____ when it really means something not so nice. lol

I hate that term for the lower back tattoos! That's what everyone calls them around here too. I've also heard the called Panama city license plate.

There is one other term for tats on the lower back as well....if I post it I will get points for sure!!;)...I will let you all fill in the blanks "***" Target................I have a very pretty celestial piece on my lower back, I don't care what they call it, I just love it.

For the OP---I have one on my right outer ankle and a moon on my left that has a vine with tropical flowers wrapped around it that goes down along the side of my foot, across the top and down to my big toe.....I just had to avoid shaving while it healed other then that no problems at all with shaving etc. I did go in the salt water at the end of the 2 week healing and one flower did fade a bit. I have quite a few and love each and every one of them.....no regrets. I can't wait to get my next one.....I figure most people collect something, at least with these I don't have to dust them, :rotfl:

Hip or upper thigh. Pick someplace meaty. Price allways depends on the artist, the 2 people I go to would charge around 85 - 150 for that.

That sounds really pretty. I would love to see a picture.

No problems with the one on my ankle and I shave daily. Like others have said, don't shave while it is healing (drove me NUTS!), but then it is fine. Yes, there are times when I wish I didn't have it (fancy business dinners where dresses are required and band-aids are equally unsightly, etc.)

Also, the tattoo parlor tried to sell me their medicated cream/gel for the healing process but I just used A&D ointment. It worked great and was a lot cheaper than what they were selling, especially since mine was small. However, I am not a medical doctor and my "medical" advice should be regarded as such!

Oh, since we are sharing...I have angel wings above the initials of my 'angel child' who passed away a few years ago.

EG, I've had my (stupid) ankle tattoo for 17 years now, and it has definitely faded. BUT I hear they fade anyway and people get them touched up, so I don't know if it's shaving related or not. I'm not going to get it touched up though; to go through that pain again, if anything, I'll cover it with something more interesting than the silly flower design on my friend's pants the day we went to go get the tattoos....

CF'er

I'm trying to get my hubby's thoughts on this (he's Korean and has a Chinese character for "friendship" on his chest), but I can't get into IM. I would suggest seriously researching it, looking in English-whicheverlanguage dictionaries, and even possibly finding a tattoo artist who knows that written language so s/he does it right. Or just be sure you trust your tattoo artist completely!

Didn't read the whole thread, but for those of you who have some regrets, my stage makeup book from my college theater class has a whole section on covering tattoos. If I can find the book, I'll post what they say. I'm sure if you google "Stage makeup and tattoo" you'll find most of it.

Good luck!

I Am Sorry To Hear That So Many Of You Regret Your Tattoos
The Only Thing I Regret Is That I Didnt Get Bigger Ones When I Had My First Ones About 10 Yrs Ago.
As For Shaving I Never Had A Problem ,they All Look As Good Now As When I Had Them Done And I Just Started To Get New Ones Too.
If Anyone Out There Has Any Flower Designs I Would Love To See Them For Ideas As I Am Having A Vine Of Flowers Done Around My Body To Connect Them Ll Up.
Cheers

I have alot of tattoos and my boyfriend is an artist. The only time it might be a problem is when you first get it done and in the healing process. But once it is healed you are good to go

I have one on my left calf and 2 on either side of my right ankle and they haven't been affected by any shaving or anything. The main thing that will kill your tattoo is the sun - so like some one else said use sunscreen.

I was told that places that rub a lot tend to have a harder time staying 'nice'..like mine are about two inches below my elbows on my forearms and my artist said i'd probably have to get it touched up every once in a while.

Oh! Oh! I just need to jump in and say that I have a tatoo!! I have a tatoo!! Not on my legs though and luckily I do not need to shave over it.

It is on my left shoulder blade right above my surgery scar from when they removed my left lung due to cancer.

I had always wanted a tatoo and when I had radiation I got tatoos (little blue dots all over me) to make sure I was in the same position each time. After that I decided to finally do it.

It always shocks people when they find out I have a tatoo because I do not often wear clothes that show it. I am trying to think of something to add to the design. Maybe someday soon.

Okay - sorry I did not mean to go off topic but it is not often that I talk about my tatoo!!

I have tats on both ankles that are more than 10 years old, and none of the girly stuff has affected them in any way at all. :)

I have two other tattoos besides the one on my outer calf but they're on my back. Does it hurt or affect the leg tattoo any when hair starts growing back?
