For life...take three...... NEW THREAD ALERT. PG 243

So

I noticed Trent had been urinating more frequently and then when we were away this weekend, he had two bed wetting accidents

He has not had an accident in forever,so I had feeling something was going on

Then he started telling me his urine was hot.

I thought he had a bladder infection

I called dr and I happen to have a urine container(new one that steve was supposed to use on testing he needs done, so I used his and will get one later to replace it)

Anyway, after forever, got him to pee and took him to dr.

THe dr said no bladder infection, but she did see a fair amt of blood in it

She asked if he complaining of any back pain or had fever and he answered no to them which is good, as that is a sign of a kidney infection

So she suggested he might have kidney stones, as she is seeing that more and more in young kids :scared1:

So, I have to bring back a fresh urine sample in morning and they will test it. If no blood, then probably a virus.

If he does have blood, I have to take him for an ultrasound, which should be fairly easy

However, I will have to take him for bloodwork. He has never had blood work except when baby.

One time when he was in hopsital, The nurses tried to give him an to give him meds and he freaked out so bad,

The nurses missed his veins like 3 times, before I stepped in and told them to get heck away. I gave him his medicne via mouth :headache:

So has anyone taken their kids when they were little to get blood work? Any tricks or just hold him super tight like I do when he gets shots?

So I did some research on a reputable site, Duke UNiversity and feel a little better now

They said it is very common for children to have blood in their urine. It causes no pain. They just have to have annual urine tests to make sure they are okay. They call it hematuria

Most kids outgrow it

Here what I copied from website:

While this might seem scary, most causes of hematuria are harmless. Only a very few children who continued to have hematuria had serious kidney problems. The vast majority remained perfectly healthy and the blood disappeared after a number of years."

So, can I just wanted to ask that everyone say a prayer that it is nothing serious and that he does not have kidney stones

Thanks so much

:grouphug:

wow that is nuts Kelly!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that tonight. I hope it's just that thing that goes away with age. I will be praying for your cute little guy.:hug::hug:

Oh no...what he do?

Grrr. Ever since we got back from FL and picked him up from my friend's house he has been very CHEWY. He chewed up a new head band of Abby's, a box from the boy's room, a wicker basket in my living room and a stuffed animal that he stole from a pile of stuff to donate. :headache:

So tonight Owen comes running upstairs yelling "where's the bitter spray Mom?"

Me: Ugh. What did he do now?

Owen: He was chewing on the ottoman!

Me: WHAT?!?!? &#$%#^$&$*#^@#^$&%$*$%^&#$%^#$%&#$*

This is when Tank runs from me and hides.

I go inspect the damage. This is what I found:

021-1.jpg

I really wish I could say that this is first time he has chewed on my not very old, custom covered, so not cheap furniture.... alas it is not. This is worst damage he has done so far though.

Seriously, he is old enough to not do this anymore. He knows it's a big NO NO. He has toys and bones to chew on. Why must he punish me this way?

I'm at my wits end! We are about to move into a furnished apartment! I can't have him chewing that furniture up!

Sharky -- prayers for Trent. It's scary to see blood in the urine but hopefully like you saw, it can be normal. I didn't know that kids can get kidney stones -- ugh!

Love -- I assume that doggie knows something is up...with you all packing boxes and cleaning out, and the general stress (both good and bad) level being higher, I'd assume that your dog is picking up on this and acting out in his manner.

Maybe try to find a little more time with your dog to help reassure him that all will be well.

That stinks

HOpe he stops that pronto

Thanks! That 'last year to say I'm in my 30s' does have a bit of sadness with it...but I also felt that way at 29, too. Guess it's just another milestone...

No worries...I'm not stressing over it...just does make me pause to think....

concert is August 4th! And I finally fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans!! Woo Hoo!!! Well, it's the pre-Elizabeth jeans...not the pre-Rachel jeans ... but it's a start!:thumbsup2

congrats! :goodvibes

:grouphug:

Oh poor Trent! I'm praying for him....

I really hope he doesn't have kidney stones. Those are really painful and kids shouldn't have to deal with that.

Not a lot of people know this, but when Kyleigh was little, I used to have to take her to Children's Hospital all the time. Go figure, she had problems with her brain. Anyway, she was always getting blood drawn. Even got an IV and had to be put to sleep one time for them to get an MRI. She only freaked out about the needle once, and that was when she was really small. The nurses were calm about it and tried to distract her, but she did need to be held down so she didn't hurt herself trying to rip the needle out. The biggest thing is for you to stay calm. If you stay calm and let the phlebotomists do their job, he'll be more inclined to stay still and not freak out himself. Don't worry about it. It is only a little pinch and it won't hurt forever. Make sure you have a talk with him first, like Love said, and make sure he knows that.

poor thing, had no idea. She's okay now right?

Is Kyleigh okay now?

Thanks girl

Nurse asked me if he had been constipated lately and I said no

Not even thinking that two days ago, he had a hard time going and just now he did :sad2:

She sadi sometimes when people are constipated, bowels are pressing on bladder making it bleed or something like that

I hope I do not put him through heck and all it is is because he is constipated

I am going to have to mention that tomorrow when I drop off another urine sample

I am bringing Steve with me if he needs blood drawn. There is no way I can do it by myself

Doing a shot was hard enough.

Thanks for the advice

Luv ya guys :grouphug:

I've never heard of anything like that before, but I hope it's just that

Anyone want a dog? :headache::mad:

oh God that dog would have gotten a major woopin' in our house for doing that. Does he do it when you're gone or when you're home as well? I would have to agree with Marsha as to why he is acting out but you already know that much. I wish I knew a tip to give you to make him stop. Only thing I can say is that every time he does it spank him and then put him in his pin (if you have one for him) and make him realize that this will happen to him each and every time he does that crap.

Girls ~ When Kyleigh was born, she had fluid in the subarachnoid space above her brain. She had lots of monitoring because they thought it would turn into hydrocephalus. Luckily, the fluid dried up and she is a-okay now.

Nicole~ I would be sooo mad at that dog. I can't believe he did that. Can it be fixed?

Oh believe me, he did get a major whoopin'! A big ol' can of it! :rotfl: We don't have a crate for him because he got too big for the one we had ~ which was borrowed from a friend. He does that when we are all at home!!! The boys were sitting right there watching tv while he was munching on my ottoman!!!

I do know that taking big long walks or having big long play sessions with him does help but honestly, I don't have time for that every day. The kids are just gonna have to step up and help out with that, I guess. Something's got to give or I'm going to need all new furniture soon.

I really don't see how it can be fixed. I just turned the damn thing around so that side faces the chair and a half it goes too. :sad2:

Kelly, how is Trent today?

That is exactly what I logged on for!

I'll have to check back in awhile though. I'm running to Trader Joe's! I gotta stock up on my favorite wines before I move..... no Trader Joe's in PCB. :sad1:

So, Steve took Trent's pee to be checked again this morning

It still looked same as yesterday with blood :sad2:

We told the doctor about him having trouble "to go", too and she said that could be because of kidney stones.

So she said she wanted him to have that ultrasounds today or tomorrow.

So I called and got him an appt for tomorrow at 3:30pm.

I will keep you all posted and let you know what they find.

I am thinkin with ultrasound, you get results right then. I hope I do not have to wait until Friday for them. We shall see

Thank god..He is in no pain..Bless his hear

Thanks everyone for your prayers. We appreciate them
