So I was perusing the Bushies thread, and out of respect I won't post anything there... but boy, does it just seem like they get into a lot of fights? There really does seem to be a lack of sense of humor over on that side of the political fence.

Actually, to be fair to the "other side", it seems as if there is a small but very stridently vocal minority who do most of the fighting.

As I wrote in a PM to someone the other day, maybe if we just ignore them, they'll go away... like pimples. Seriously, though, I have wondered if it might not be better to just not give in to the urge to try to argue with them. I think we can all agree that we can't change their opinions. As such, trying to reason with them or use logic and evidence to disprove their assumptions has proven to be little more than an exercise in futility. I've decided that I'll make one post to refute any misinformation posted in hopes that reasonable people will not mislead but I won't let myself be dragged into a pointless argument. I get enough of that with my 3 year old.

ETA: Psst... they're "listening" to us. Ixnay on the izzapay and illegal otersvay.

After a couple of busy days catching up with work in my "other" life I come back in and find that those on the "good" side have created a wonderful spot for those of us who are enlightened!

I have wondered if it might not be better to just not give in to the urge to try to argue with them.

You're right on target again. It drives them crazy when no one plays their little game with them.

I know where I'm hanging out from now on.

Now I need to find myself a swing state voter who'd like to do a switch vote!

Edited to add.... I did a quick read on a couple of the "you know who" threads (no need to advertise for him). It's an absolute riot! All they're talking about is this thread!! How funny!

Only they seem like a majority because of the frequency of posts. Yea, there are about 3 or 4 names that I've started to steer clear of...they come onto a thread and just massacre it! By that point making a substantive contribution is almost impossible.

OK, I need to vent. I was just looking at the thread someone started about Democrats and illegal votes. I've been following it and had added one post to it but had not intended to post again. As I said in an earlier post on this thread, I'm determined to not get into political arguments that only lead to frustration. However, one post was made about Democrats that I could not ignore. I won't repeat what was written but I am furious.

Just yesterday, I really didn't think anyone on the DIS could offend me. Sure, they might call me names, question my intelligence, deride my ethics or any number of things. However, I truly didn't think anyone could get me this angry on a Disney related forum. Unfortunately, I was wrong. In fact, I'm fighting back the tears now because I am that angry.

I don't know exactly why I'm posting this other than this thread has been such a fun one (and I hate to bring it "down") and it was the first place I thought to come.

Thanks for letting me vent... it helped.
