How do you all keep up with your local politics?

Our local NPR station does a really good job about putting local information on their website.

If y'all want some more good D news, the Houston Chronicle endorsed Richard Morrison, who's running against Tom DeLay in TX-22. This is HUGE news.

SoonerKate- I've been following this too in Austin. There are some pretty upset people in Houston. I think it might be a long shot, but it's definitely closer.:D

I see the faithful have been doing their job today! We're still front page news!:teeth:

I believe Zogby has it at a tie as well.

Since the only thing that matters is the electoral college, I pay little or no attention to the nationwide polls, no matter who's ahead at the moment.

Looking at any of the electoral college polls, Kerry seems to be on the upswing.

Wouldn't it be funny if Kerry does to Bush what Bush did to Gore???:D

Just wanted to say hello.

Zogby shows my state has gone from a 53 Bush/44 Kerry to and even 48/48...Makes me happy!

I have to admit I am concerned that this election will be as close as the one in 2000. I'm still staying optimistic that it will be a landslide victory so there is no doubt that Kerry won.

Maybe there are voters out there that say they're voting for Bush to create a false sense of security for him and his campaign. If they think they're ahead, they might not try so hard...

I´m voting for Bush. ;)

The Republicans are going on and on about illegal voting; they must be bracing themselves for a Bush loss. "But look at all those illegal Democrat votes!" I can see it now...

Forget selling your vote for a lousy pizza and clean underwear!!

Have you heard the newest charge? We're handing out cocaine to get people to register!!!

The right is getting more ridiculous every day. They haven't even lost....yet, and they're already getting their excuses lined up.

Sounds like someone's pretty worried to me!!!

Oh my, I really can't afford to share my stash just to get them to register. Now maybe if they let me fill out and drop off their ballots... :earseek:

Ah yes, I believe that story started in my neck of the woods. Yep, pizza just won't cut it anymore.::yes:: I've never heard of these "illegal" voting accusations before this election. It really does sound like people are worried and will be ready to jump on the validity of the votes.

Seriously? Where? Because obviously, I live in the wrong state.

There are dirty politics on both sides; there always have been and there always will be, I think. It's just the nature of the game. However, it's a long way from unproven accusations (from the right) of falsely registering to multiple people coming forward and talking about willfully destroying voter registrations of those who don't agree with you.

Still, it's too bad I'm already registered. I could use some ramen noodles or pizza.

I think you've made a good point. I think many on the "other side" are getting worried and laying the groundwork for excuses to question the results when Kerry wins. They all grumble and moan about the concerns Democrats (and others) voiced after the issues in the 2000 results for Florida. Now maybe they'll see what it feels like... although I know it's not the same since the 2000 election results were so questionable and those for 2004 will be (hopefully) unimpeachable.

Me and you both....:teeth:

Yeah, but you haven't voted yet, have you? There's still a chance that you could come out with something.

And who said "Vote Democrat, it's easier than working?"!!!

Looks like my fortunes like in voting Republican!!!!:Pinkbounc

Wow, did you all notice there are more posts on this thread than the one that was inspired by it?

BTW, I probably shouldn't mention that I missed the registration deadline and won't be able to vote. Bummer!

I'll just pay an undecided to vote in my place. lol

Eavesdropping a bit here.

But, just because you have alot of posts on this thread, you have alot of repeat posters. I was bored, so I took it upon myuself to go through both threads and count the OP's. Your thread has 54 original posters. Out of that 54, 3 post are from Elwood Blues, and from the tone of those posts, that person is trespassing. So you have 53 original Kerry supporters. The rest is just chatter.

The Bush side is behind slightly with 51 original posts, but 2 of them are trespassers...so Bush supporters come in with 49 original posts.

So, Kerry supporter are not blowong Bush out of the water...you guys just talk more. LOL

PS...I really need a life.

you guys just talk more.

Yeah, but we're funnier and more interesting so we get bonus points.

Besides, we're in the middle of big membership drive.....that is as soon as we can get LisaZoe to let go of some of her stash.:D

Thanks for the play by play though....

I'm using my cocaine stash to put in chocolate chip cookies and distribute them to the elderly in exchange for votes.

I'm also going to grab entice some new voters at my local meth clinic

We definitely take the term party of two party system so much differently than does the "other side".

:jumping1: :thewave: :rockband: :cool1:

I'm one of the "trespassers" on the Bush Supporter's thread and I have to say that many of the posters are just way too serious for a thread on a Disney board. While I don't want Bush/Cheney to win for many and varied reasons, I don't think it will be the end of the world - as some Bush supporters seem to think will happen if Kerry wins.

Hey Crankyshank, I think that crystal meth lab is right next door to the bordello for young undecided male voters. ::yes:: ;)
