my dh works for CVS/Caremark. we have been searching for a new wireless phone carrier, and I happened to call verizon today. the rep told me as a CVS employee/family, we would get 20% off the monthly rate plans, plus free phone activation. and he said he could enroll me right over the phone. haven't decided yet- may call ATT (current provider) and see if they can meet this offer or even do better

Not a CVS employee (although I should be) but Sprint gave us the same deal because DH retired from a certain company. If I were shopping I would check all phone companies.

I think its true for Lowes employee's as well, dh works there part time and he said something about it the other day

If you are a teacher or school employee, AT &T gives us free activation fees and 20% off. I've used that discount quite a few times.

You may want to find a friend with a Verizon phone and check the service where you live and would use it most. I had one for work and it didn't work well at all where I live. My personal AT&T phone gives me great service every where I go. I also have a Verizon Aircard for work and find a lot of places it works poorly or not at all.

I get a 12% discount on Verizon through my employer (not CVS), and it was the major factor for us deciding to go with Verizon last time we signed up for a new plan. Unfortunately their customer service has been terrible and they refuse to give me the discount I am entitled to. Anytime I try to sign up for it online, they say I can't get the discount because my bill is less than $39.99/month (yeah, it's twice that). If I call, they give me the runaround. Not to mention the phones we've had for SIX MONTHS have barely functioning batteries and don't ring half the time they're supposed to. Sorry, got off on a tangent there. Anyway just a warning.
