Looks great! I am SO jealous!
stinkerbelle said:very cool! when is the estimated completion date? (can't be far by the looks of it all)
this is looking exactly like my IL's pool. (see my siggy pic - that's our dogger swimming in their pool...so nice for her to swim in the pool and not worry about ripping a liner. )

I think I'd like someone a little more muscular than Johnny Depp (although nothing wrong with him!) and definitely not in a Speedo. Give me a hot guy in board shorts any day!

I am curious about the rocks that were "poured" under the steel and the boards put in under the steel. Did your pool company say why they did that??
The reason I ask is becasue we had a pool put in several months ago, and that was not done. Of course laws and regualtions can vary from city to city, county to county and state to state (we are in AZ).
luvflorida said:The construction booklet that the pool company gave us says something about "stone packing the bottom of the pool with a minimum of 12" of stone to protect plumbing, etc., and to achieve the desired grade to pool floor."
The boards were placed along the sides of the pool before the gunite was applied. The booklet doesn't say anything about the boards, but it seems like if the boards weren't there, the gunite would just be sprayed through the steel bars onto the dirt.
I'll ask the pool guys next time they are out and I'll let you know what they say.![]()
mudnuri said:I believe the stones are there for 2 reasons. 1st for drainage under the pool. To keep the water from settling under the gunite. 2nd for a "secure" base for the gunite. The stones compact, and wont go anywhere but still allow drainage.
The boards, are for a backer. They prevent the gunite from being absorbed into the dirt behind the rebar.
The pool looks incredible. I'm guessing- the railing for the steps will be in the middle of the step? kids LOVE playing on a center railing, we have them in our steps.
One thing I dont get is that ledge in the deep end...unless its not really a deep end- i'm thinking like 9 foot- it must be less than that, because its only 1 "step" to get out??
Do your research on the automatic vacums' some work much better than others, and its not necessarily the most expensive one that works the best.
It looks awesome.... are they painting the gunite- or is the plaster going to be colored? What color?
FYI, we use white epoxy paint. a few reasons for using white instead of blue. 1st, white won't chaulk like a color from the chemicals, 2nd- white relfects sun, 3rd, water is naturally blue, if you paint the pool white, the water will look carribean all the time, a beautiful turqoise color... I'll see if I have pics of our white pool. Everyone thought I was crazy when I painted the blue pool white, but now everyone agree's with me LOL
