Lyrics below the Bridge poem.........

It was suggested to me that I maybe post a thread for all the DIS pets who have gone on to play, scamper and romp by that Rainbow Bridge we all know is there. I'm sure some never maybe share here that their pet, be it dog, cat, rabbit, fish, hamster, snake, horse or whatever other of God's little creatures we have taken in to share some years, or maybe even only some months, weeks or even days, have gone on to The Bridge, waiting, patiently, patiently for their buddies to come again and play.

So, a good suggestion...........

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Sleep well

In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight

(Chorus)
The lion's in peace
The lion sleeps
Hush

Near the village, the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village, the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight

(Chorus)

The lion sleeps

Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

(Chorus)

Time has come
Sleep
Sleep well

Near the village, the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village, the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight

(Chorus)

My little darling
Don't fear, my little darling
My little darling
Don't fear, my little darling

The lion sleeps

Dan,

You're going to need to provide the Kleenex if you post that again. princess:

Thanks Dan....It never matters how many times I read this...it always makes me cry!!!

  I wonder who wrote that poem?! They've given a lot of people a sad but good feeling!

Thank you for the comforting cry! My 2 cats are looking at me like I'm nuts after giving them big hugs.

That always gets to me. Every single time. But it is a terrific sentiment. Have to say Dan....I always scroll really fast down those special posts that tell of lost pets. I really, really do want to get past your Rainbow Bridge post. Otherwise, I just lose it. I have too many friends waiting at 'the bridge' for me.

The tears are running down my cheeks. I've read it a million times, but it never fails to get me choked up. It's so beautiful.

Awww thanks for the thread. That never fails to bring tears to my eyes, especially since my Sydney passed over to the bridge almost a year ago....
