well, the best way and fastest (if thats a word :lmao: i cant spell) would be 95. there would be no traffic at night and you would get through pretty fast. but, there are the tolls. the only way around the tolls is going west of 95 and from mass., and gas being $4 a gallon, you would probably spend more in gas driving out and around than if you just came down the coast and paid the tolls. you would have to get over to i81 than there are several ways from there. what interstate are you close to?

I am right off 95. Im think you might have a point! Maybe juat spending that money in tolls will get us quicker rather than spend the money in gas and add an extra hour. Thanks for pointing that out! any more pointers?? TIA!!!

Just got back from our trip! We did Detroit to FL. Was super happy that we drove and had a car down there to use instead of Disney bus transportation.
Watch out going through Georgia on I-75! Everyone always says be careful in Ohio, don't speed. Ohio has nothing on Georgia! There were speed traps everywhere and they are sneaky, too! Once we got out of MI, we set our cruise control, kept to the speed limits and didn't have a problems. We saw many others that weren't so lucky.
I had bought the Along I-75 book and it came in very handy. Plus, lots of fun little facts to read along the way. I'd recommend it to anyone making the trek especially if you plan on stopping over night. I was able to located hotels by exit and then look up rates on my phone.
If anyone would like a AAA diamond parking pass, let me know. I bought one off eBay and would like to pass it on to a DISer to use. It gave us better parking at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom (if you are staying off property this is
not for free parking just better parking - you still have to pay unless you are
a resort guest)

Welcome back! Did you get a taker for your pass yet? We are driving down this summer. Thanks!

yes, now that your swinging over in my direction, what exit do you want me to wait at with my bags so i can go along?:lmao:

Let's see, the calendar says June. June? As long as it's June, we think it's time to take a 2,000+ mile round-trip to Walt Disney World.

Our countdown has begun....:hourglass

All the best.

:goodvibes A co-worker just returned Mon from a trip to Fla. she and her family drove from syracuse to the daytona beach area utlizing the 81 - 77 - 26 - 95 route. :cool1:She reported smooth sailing with no traffic delays due to construction or otherwise. Stayed overnite on the trip down made the trip home to syracuse in 19 hours with normal stops. :thumbsup2

Hi Guzzi,
I'm planning on taking that route myself in two weeks. I was concerned about the construction on 81 between Exit 128 and 118. I'm glad to hear that the construction didn't tie her up.

Has anyone else been tied up by the construction in that area?

We Saturday from El Dorado Kansas (near Wichita). I am getting VERY NERVOUS! WE have not ever driven this far!!!

We plan on leaving our house by 5 AM and driving to Birmingham to stay for the night. This is a little over the half way mark for us.

Does anyone have any recommendations where to stay in Birmingham?

Then, we plan to arrive in the Orlando area on Sunday evening (7 or 8); we need a hotel suggestion to stay at as well. WE check into Pop Century first thing Monday morning..........

What are the current gas prices in the South? We are currently paying $3.61

Is there any road construction on 75South?

Thanks in advance for you help!!!!!

This is our regular route too, so I'm hoping things are good this August. With that said, we took a trip to Williamsburg just a few weeks ago, and used 81 down and back, as far as we could. No issues at all, and a very pleasant drive!
