Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

Wow, amazing job on the baby shower and all of the baking! :worship: I would surely have been hitting up a bakery, had it been me. :rotfl: Great job, especially considering the tendonitis.

Oh, that injury sounds just awful and so scary! Poor Calvin and poor you guys! I don't even want to think about going through something like that. If it makes Calvin feel any better, though, Izzy has a nice scar on her leg from her mole removal, so if they have a DIS-meet someday, they already have something in common to talk about. :goodvibes

OMG! Poor Calvin. Are you all okay now? I hope that the scarring won't be too bad. Perhaps you could rub some vitamin E into the chin to reduce the scar.

WOW! Fantastic desserts and what a great looking table. Great job! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry you guys went through that! My dd cut the under part of her eye on the tub around the same age and she still has a little scar but only I see it because I know it's there. They thought it would be much much worse but it almost non existent. You guys are really strong!

Love your reports. You are really talented with the desserts and decorations - do you have your own business baking or party planning? If not, you should!

So sorry to hear about Calvin's accident and how horrible for you as parents to have to live through the treatment. I bet it hurt you as much as Calvin. :grouphug:

Your party planner skills are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! That was quite the array of sweet treats and it looks like it came right from a bakery. :worship:

What a scary situation with Calvin. :( I bet your DB and SiL felt terrible!

Kudos to all your hardwork with the parties! Everything looks delicious.

Oh my gosh! I can't even imagine how horrible that hospital experience must've been! Glad he's okay! :flower3:

What a fun dinner for everyone - esp your DS! I loved the expressions on the boys sitting at the table behind your son. It did look like they were really enjoying watching your little one's birthday fun :goodvibes

It was so cute to see other families getting involved. Made us all feel like one big happy family sitting in the same dining room:goodvibes

Okay.....as far as family meals go, I think you did better at 50's Prime Time than waiting for your ADR at BD. That looks like a lot more fun and relaxed for DS.

Happy Birthday to him!!! Great shots of him at the table and of the food.

And that's great that Disney didn't charge you for the cancellation.

You are so right. Much more relaxed and it was a lot of fun! I'm really glad we were able to snag a table, ESPECIALLy that particular table with our own tv!

Dinner looks and sounds like a lot of fun :) glad the change worked out.

One day I must try the PB & J milkshake, I've heard they're amazing. I always get the strawberry one.

I was SO close to trying that! I was scared:lmao:

Dinner looks very nice! And how cute to have the whole dining room sing "Happy Birthday" to Calvin. He looks so happy.

Sorry for being missing for a while now. The end of the school year is coming closer and it gets really hectic around this time.

Is your school year over yet? DH is done tomorrow. Well, technically he was done on Wednesday, but the teachers had a chance to earn a few hundred dollars extra per day just to show up the last two days of the week. So why the heck not right?! More $$$ for our Disney fund!:cool1:

The meal at 50's looks like it was a huge success!!! There weren't any negative comments, so does that mean that your DH is ok with the menu there now? Or does he even remember the meal??? :lmao::rotfl2:

DH was very happy with the decision he made! :rotfl:

Hi Alicia! I get the impression that your DH really wanted to eat at 50's PT! ;) That whole interaction was too funny. Your DS looked like he enjoyed himself even without the extra special birthday attention.

50's PT is my favorite DHS restaurant....I haven't been back to HBD since 2012 when we had an encounter with one of Mickey's distant relatives. Yikes!

At least your mom knew the remedy for what ailed her! Your popcorn and a cocktail. That made for their own version of happy hour.

I'll be in touch about the July dates since I know your dance card will fill up quickly with requests. :thumbsup2

WHAT?! Dare I even look at that TR?!

I'm so excited to be meeting you! Will you be going solo since it's for a convention? Or will you have Em or DH?!:cool1:

The expression on DS's face while they were singing the birthday song -- too cute! I'm really looking forward to 50s Prime Time. I'm not expecting gourmet food but it looks yummy and so much fun.

Definitely not gourmet, but comforting foods that please the taste buds and the environment is just so relaxed, comfortable and fun!

I did, thanks for posting it! I actually was lucky enough to tune in right before Wishes, so I was able to see that and Celebrate the Magic and parts of the parade and just some random stuff (I was jumping between that and the DIS).

Great update. I REALLY want to go to Prime Time now, after seeing all of that. Looks like such a fun environment and great food and shakes. So glad Calvin had a fun birthday celebration! Very nice that they did that for him.

I left it on for hours that night! I would go look at it randomly throughout the night. I was such a cool idea!

It was very nice that they did that for him! Even nicer that the whole dining room got involved.

What a sweet birthday and update overall! I used to think that experiences like this were wasted on kids so young, but your DS completely understood what was going on and had a great time! We saw a young baby girl at 1900 Park Fare the other night and she loved meeting Prince Charming, Cinderella and the stepsisters.

The food looks tasty too. Some day we'll try 50s PT. I'm glad everyone liked the meal.

I used to think the exact same thing, but now going through it, I totally understand why parents take their kids so young. I think it makes us happy too!

REALLY?! You haven't been there yet?! I'm shocked:eek:

aw, your son looks just so pleased with all the attention - that is so great!

certainly looks like a lot of food to me - good call in splitting that entree --- especially with the onion rings to start and then a milkshake on the side!

oooh, surprise date night?!?!? congratulations!

There was a lot of food! And we couldn't have planned it better for what we would be doing later that night:thumbsup2

Beautiful dessert platters you did there!!! You are a saint for doing all that!

I'm so sorry about the accident! Poor little guy! The good thing is that they are so resilient so it's more traumatic for us than it is them. As for the scar? It will be a good conversation started!

Thank you! It was a lot of work, but really so fun to do.

You're so right! That and now he'll always be able to guilt trip his aunt and uncle now if he ever wants something, i'm sure they'll do it for him!:rotfl2:

You did a great job with the baby shower! If I had to prepare all of that the only thing my fingers would be doing is dialing a phone to call a bakery :rotfl:

And what a cute idea for the picture using the finger prints to make the balloons!

Oh, gosh, so sorry to hear about your son! Little boys seem to find the one thing that will get them into trouble/hurt them - so a non-baby proof house is just a danger zone. "he was fine, just crying hysterically" .. easy to type now I am sure. Glad that it wasn't worse though.

Just remember that: "Pain is temporary, glory lives forever, chicks dig scars" ;)

:rotfl2: Actually, my DM was in charge of the Petit Fours, which she did call a bakery for! Those I think, would be difficult to make - "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

:lmao: I love that quote! Scars are tough looking right? Too bad it had to be over a girly thing like a floral vase and not a carburetor :rotfl:

The desserts look awesome! :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear about Calvin. That isn't any fun at all... for him or you. I guess if you want to take something positive away from it, maybe this accident will ensure that his cousin will grow up in a child proof home.

It wasn't fun at all, but it made me realize, i'm not in control of everything he does. He's going to get hurt and i'll just have to deal with it.

Hi Lesha,

Wow, those desserts sound and look amazing! What a great baby shower with lots of creative ideas. I bet everyone loved and appreciated all the effort you made. Your poor hands though!

Poor Calvin :( I'm sorry he had to go through that pain but glad he is fine now.

My hands were such a mess! I couldn't believe how much they hurt actually. :crazy2: But it was a lot of fun. I love cooking/baking and my SIL knows that which is why she asked me.

Poor little man. I just wish he wouldn't have a scar!

Poor Calvin. But you know boys always get hurt. It's a rule. I remember when Brian cut himself right above the eye and it took 4 people to hold him down while a plastic surgeon sewed him up. He did such a great job because he was, after all, a plastic surgeon. :rotfl:

What a long exhausting day but you did a wonderful job with the baby shower and all those goodies look so yummy. Thanks for sharing!

Oh geez, I think I would have freaked out if it was near the eyes. That's way more dangerous than the chin/jawline.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun!

Wow! You did a fantastic job on the shower, all those treats look incredible! I don't think I'm going to be able to have kids in my house until they are teen age or older, unless they are restrained. When you visit in July, you'll get a taste of why, our house will be furnished almost entirely with glass cabinets, which are dangerous. Then there is the pool, ugh.

I'm sorry you had to go through that with your DS after all that work that you did. I'm sure you were exhausted!

I'm so excited to see your house! :cool1: And you guys of course ;)

I was sooo done that night. Looking back, i'm shocked I wasn't more cranky. Maybe I was too tired to be cranky. But I definitely could have used a glass of wine (or bottle!) after that night.

Wow, great job on the desserts, they look really good. Glad Calvin is going to be ok, but sorry about the pain he had to go through

Thank you! It was tough seeing him in pain. And scary, but glad it wasn't worse.

:goodvibes

I didn't think it would flare up as bad as it did considering I used my Kitchen Aid and a large food processor. But it did.

I didn't know she had that done. Was it recent? :rotfl: I can already see us taking pictures of them together showing off their scars in front of the castle!

OMG! Poor Calvin. Are you all okay now? I hope that the scarring won't be too bad. Perhaps you could rub some vitamin E into the chin to reduce the scar.

WOW! Fantastic desserts and what a great looking table. Great job! :thumbsup2

People have been suggesting that and I never even thought about doing that, so thank you. I have to wait for the glue to fall off and i'll do that. It just started today slowly peeling off, so hopefully in the next few days it will be completely gone so I can start with the lotion.

Thank you! I was hoping you would be proud:goodvibes

Oh my goodness, another eye story! I'm glad it wasn't the eye area, that's way more dangerous than where it got him at. I'm hoping that the scar won't look to bad. The cut is really ugly right now. Purple and blah, so I guess we'll see.

I wish! My SIL and I both love baking/cooking and decorating. Some ideas came from other brilliant minds out there (pinterest) but I would love to do that professionally!

:worship:

Thanks Karin. It was not fun at all. I'm just glad it wasn't more serious, like having glass break off in his skin.

Thanks so much! I absolutely love baking. Even though it killed my hands, I had so much fun.

What a scary situation with Calvin. :( I bet your DB and SiL felt terrible!

Kudos to all your hardwork with the parties! Everything looks delicious.

Thanks Pam! They felt really bad. But accidents happen. Just wished it would have happened at our house because I know how HORRIBLE I would have felt if someones child got hurt at my house.

Oh my gosh! I can't even imagine how horrible that hospital experience must've been! Glad he's okay! :flower3:

It. was. awful. People throwing up, crying, etc. That on top of trying to control DS from not running up to these people:lmao:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for DS! He's so weird. The doctor had told us to try and prevent him from picking at the glue after we removed the bandaid because a lot of kids do that, I guess. Well, we removed the bandaid on Sunday night and it started peeling today and he STILL hasn't noticed that stuff is hanging off his face:rotfl: Guess he just doesn't care!

I wanted to write an update tonight and catch up on TR's but I only got around to one. Brenda, you should feel lucky:lmao:;) I have updates on the trip that i'll let you guys know about tomorrow after I play catch up.

I may be suggesting something that you already know.....

The best way to get Vitamin E is to buy those vitamin E oil capsules that you would take as a supplement. Use a safety pin and poke into the capsule. Squeeze the oil out to your palm with a carrier oil like almond oil or olive oil. Mix the two oils together and use that to rub. You get a much more pure version of Vitamin E compared to using a lotion.

BTW - For future reference....this way of using Vitamin E oil is great for stretch marks. (Not that I'm suggesting anything or what.....but I did learn this trick from a midwife.) :upsidedow

IT WAS YOU! I kept trying to remember who said they didn't enjoy it and was thinking how could they be so crazy ;) I really think you should give it another shot. That's WAY too much sweetness for the morning. Shoot, it was way too much for the afternoon:eek:

:lmao: Yes it was me! I think next time I would try the Red Velvet instead of the Butterfinger. And thank GOD next time is exactly two months from today!!

Ok, now I'm off to catch up on the rest of the TR

Oh my gosh! DS gave you quite a scare! I'm so happy he's okay and not even bothered by it anymore. I think it's a rite of passage for kids to end up in the ER for some injury or other. I still have a small scar next to my eye from hitting my head but I was too little to remember it. But I still enjoy showing it off to this day ;)

Your dinner at PTC looked fun. That's awesome that you were able to change at the last second and without a penalty. I would like to try it one day, I always read good things about it.

Your SIL's shower looked awesome. I love the Mickey with the balloons, such a cute idea. I cannot believe you baked all those cookies and scones and cupcakes. That is unreal. Everything looked so cute and tasty. How was your BFF's shower?

Hey Alicia! I'll look forward to your trip update! To answer your earlier question - Em will likely be staying at the hotel with me since that's what she did last year and did her solo thing during the day while I'm working the convention.

Back to your drama filled and party filled week.... OH Noooo! So sorry about Calvin. Glad he's dealing well with the recovery and aftermath but yikes. My mommy heart hurts when I read about these things. Between my 4 kids we've been through 4 broken bones for 3 kids, 5 stitches, 1 emergency eye surgery, and too many cuts, bruises, and burns to count. :)

You did a fabulous job with the baby shower dessert table. Looks way better than the Wishes dessert party! :thumbsup2

Oh poor Calvin and poor mom and dad! How stressful, it makes my mommy heart too to think of it. The shower looked beautiful, what an amazing friend and sil you are to do that with tendinitis!

Wonderful thanks for that! The glue that was covering his cut just fell off completely last night, so I was able to finally get a good look at what we'll be working with. It really isn't as bad as the doctor made it out to be. I think with Vitamin E and Merderma (a little expensive but worth it hopefully!), the scarring can be minimal to none.

And i'll DEFINITELY have to remember that if we ever have another child. I was super dedicated about rubbing butters and palmers the entire pregnancy that I didn't get one stretch mark. I know that they are hereditary too, but back in my late teens, I had lost a lot of weight which caused lots of stretch marks on my thighs and butt area, so I just knew I was going to get it with pregnancy. I was so happy when I didn't though!

:lmao: Yes it was me! I think next time I would try the Red Velvet instead of the Butterfinger. And thank GOD next time is exactly two months from today!!

I know!!! I'm so excited for you! Please do a TR!:worship:

Geez, I swear you're the 4th story on here with an injury next to the eye! That's scary.

My BFF's shower wasn't ANYTHING like it was to my SIL's. All the decorations came from Party City (not that there's anything wrong with that!) but I wish I would have made more of an attempt to offer up my services to help make banners, decorations etc. It was a lion king theme so it was really cute though:simba:

I just replied back to your PM and can't wait to get together :goodvibes

Seriously. Yet ANOTHER eye story. :faint: Stories with eyes scare me for some reason.

Well thank you for the compliment on the desserts! I wish it would have looked like that but it still turned out great!

Oh poor Calvin and poor mom and dad! How stressful, it makes my mommy heart too to think of it. The shower looked beautiful, what an amazing friend and sil you are to do that with tendinitis!

I was just thinking, man already a scar on his cute little face. He's still brand new to me (20 months old) and didn't want his face messed up until he was older:lmao: and you know, from like a sport or wrestling around or something.

It was well worth all the trouble! In fact, my SIL surprised me yesterday with a half dozen cookies from one of our favorite local bakeries as a thank you gift for helping with the shower:hyper::yay:

Okay, so I should be all caught up on everyone's TR's but if I missed one, please let me know!

After our great surprise dinner at 50’s Prime Time Café, we thought it would be a good time to head out of the park.

On our way I made us stop to take a few pictures in front of the Sorcerers hat

And told DM to go stand with her DSIL. She was very reluctant and I totally understand why. Weirdo. Perhaps the Muppets area did rub off on him after all!...well that and the liquor.

And then we walked about 30 feet to find a lonely PP so took the opportunity to maximize our $150 DVD

At this point we started walking away to head into a shop real quick before leaving the park and DH said, “Hold on, I’ll be right back.”

He went back to the PP for some reason and so I took photos from my angle to see what the heck he was doing

He came back and said, “You’ll love the pictures I just took but you’ll have to wait to you get home!” So it was a nice surprise when we did return home to find these little lovelies waiting on my account to be edited and purchased.

Now if these weren’t funny enough, I decided to zoom in on the pictures that I took from where I was standing to see if there were any reactions from people passing by. The guy in the green shirt is probably thinking, “This guy has definitely visited the Tune-In Lounge today."

And here he’s thinking, “Why is the photographer even indulging this guy?!”

:rotfl2:

I just wished we could see the reaction of his wife standing next to him because we all know that women give better dirty looks!

After having a little fun with that we ended up walking around one of the shops in search of a frame to take home. And we did end up finding two so we purchased and left.

On our way out of the park, I really wanted to get a picture in front of the Monsters University topiary that was outside of the park

We were patiently waiting in line because there was another family taking a picture of it and as soon as they were done this family speaking Portuagese (perhaps a part of a Brazilian Tour Group? I thought they didn't come till Dec/Jan. Anyway, just assuming;)) came out of no where and started taking pictures with her family. Like having different groupings, different poses, etc. DM not being shy started to speak up but I told her it was fine and to just let them. But then, when they were done taking pictures, the matriarch of the family turned towards everyone that was waiting and gave this type of smile

Like she knew exactly what she did. The other family that was also waiting next to us looked at us like, “***?!” Psycho lady for sure.

Well it was finally our turn

We got on a bus fairly quickly and while on the bus, DM had suggested that we go out and do something, since it was only 7pm. YAY! So when we got back to BLT, we let DM take a shower while we got DS set up for bed and we got ready for our hot date night…at Epcot!:cheer2:

those pictures from the 2nd PP you came across came our really well - he really got you guys in focus!

And not sure if it was the Tune-In or the Looney Tune - but your DH seemed to be in a good mood :rotfl:

ugh, I hate people who knowingly do something wrong and give you that look that makes it clear they feel they are special snowflakes

oooh "hot date night!" :thumbsup2

love the picture of your DH with Tinkerbell in his hand! looked like a really fun day at DHS xx
