Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

wow, I guess double fisting drinks will make you not care that you didn't like the look of the menu :rotfl2:

Haha exactly! And I didn't mind. I've always wanted to try this place, but DH was never interested.

Kind of a bummer that they didn't let strollers into One Man's Dream, but I can see it getting pretty congested in there if there were 20 strollers or something

I'll get there one day. I'm assuming it's a smaller building so I totally understand why they wouldn't allow that.

That's too bad. We hadn't ever tried it, but it would certainly be nice to be able to take a stroller through a walk through attraction like that to make more efficient use of nap time.

Exactly! I'd love to check this place out someday though. Hopefully on our next trip. Then DS will be running instead of napping.

::yes:: I'm always kind of hesitant to get something that I can "get anywhere" when I'm surrounded by snacks that I can only get at Disney World, but that popcorn really is great.

I REALLY wish I would have listened to the boards sooner and bought popcorn a long time ago! Goes great with a cold beer.

One for each hand... that means they're doing it right. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:Brilliant! Because the other hand gets lonely right?! :rotfl:

Well, he clearly can't sit at the bar since he's not 21. What else are you supposed to do? :confused3

:thumbsup2 Smart man.

Did they charge you a penalty for canceling the Brown Derby ADR? :confused3[/QUOTE]

No they didn't! Honestly, I don't know why they didn't either. Obviously, we were about 2 hours from our ADR and I know it's within 24 hours right?

You traded HBD for Prime Time??? :faint:

Yes. Enquiring minds wanna know.....did they charge you for the cancellation?

Nope! No charge. Maybe we just got lucky??:confused3 But i'm fine with it, of course.

Your last update was really funny. Food always seems better when you have had a few drinks in you. At least your mom was happy to go there. Yay for being called in 5 minutes.

Yes we were definitely lucky to have gotten a table!

Popcorn is one of my must gets at WDW popcorn:: so good!

Very curious how everyone enjoyed their evening. But after a few drinks 50's was probably more fun :)

Oh my goodness, every trip from now on will have a popcorn break. I NEED IT IN MY LIFE!

Fun update! Napping and drinking...sounds like a trip with a baby/toddler. :rotfl: Wow, interesting that they got you in to Prime Time so quick. I'm anxious to see how it was and if DH did like it. We've never been there, but it always looks so fun.

I'm going to update right now on that!:cool1:

I know, I keep meaning to text you too!

I bet I'll be visiting the Baby Center often! What all can you do in there with your child?

Hey, nothing wrong with sneaking in an alcoholic beverage while the baby sleeps! Got to take the opportunity as it comes!

Are you mad you had to cancel your meal at the Brown Derby? I love it there!

At the time I wasn't mad. I think we were all going with the flow (alcohol-fueled flow:lmao:) and it was a good decision. That update is coming right up!

Sweet, I know what I'll be watching tonight! :thumbsup2

Did you end up watching?!

Cute pictures from the Muppet Area. I love those ears - way too cute!

OMG :rotfl2: Your DM and DH were having way too much fun at the Tune Inn Lounge. But how dare they eat all your popcorn? :rotfl2:

I guess when you have a sleeping baby you just have to push that stroller around outside. Boo!

Great mojo on the dinner reservation. Can't wait to see what everyone thought about the food and the atmosphere.

Whenever DH and DM go to a bar, they always seem to have a good time! Clearly :rotfl:

Now I know for next time to buy MORE popcorn!

I'm watching the MSEP on that live cam right now!!! :cool1:

I LOVED IT! :hyper:

You know, I was never sold on choosing popcorn at a Disney park (so many other yummy things to try, right??!) and then one time one of the kids insisted on it. SOLD. They must put crack in it. So good.

That is too funny about the drinks at Tune-In. Love it. And I too wanna know what they said when you cancelled the Brown Derby!!! They make such a big deal with that credit card hold and 24 hour policy.

There is definitely Disney crack up in that popcorn:lmao: Too good!

No charge for canceling! How does that even happen, I don't know, but I was fine with it.

***We had just scored a table at 50's Prime Time Cafe and were walking into the restaurant to be seated***

And look where we got seated! Everyone was very happy!

DH and DM were totally in their element with the TV. They NEED to watch tv while eating dinner at all times back at home, so this was nice for them.

DS was already hungry so I brought out a fruit cup to eat to pass the time. And of course, I forgot to pack his place mat in the diaper bag, so we had to use a real plate.

Ooh look what’s on TV now!

For an appetizer, onion rings were a must. That horseradish sauce though…OMGOSH! DELICIOUS!:cool1:

We put in our orders with our Cousin and brought our entrees out rather quickly and took a picture for us.

DM and I decided to split a Fried Chicken Plate and DH had his own. Look how much is on my plate still after I split it with DM

And of course, we needed some milkshakes with this meal :hyper:

DH’s plate

DS’s plate

The Man on TV

During dinner, our Cousin was super friendly and chatty and asked us what we were celebrating and we mentioned it was DS’s 1st birthday and towards the end of the meal he brought out a little scoop of ice cream for DS and asked the whole dining room to start singing to him. DS LOVES the birthday song so was delighted to hear everyone sing!

The little boys in the background were so cute and really getting into the song and kept looking at DS. DS really enjoyed all the attention! Why I didn’t get a picture of him eating ice cream, I don’t know but he loved it.

We all had such a great time at dinner, we were very happy that we had changed (and were able to change!) restaurants. The atmosphere was so fun and playful, the food was delicious and DM loved the décor. I’d definitely come here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Next up, some rather creepy Photopass pictures and a surprise date night!:dance3:

What a fun dinner for everyone - esp your DS! I loved the expressions on the boys sitting at the table behind your son. It did look like they were really enjoying watching your little one's birthday fun :goodvibes

Okay.....as far as family meals go, I think you did better at 50's Prime Time than waiting for your ADR at BD. That looks like a lot more fun and relaxed for DS.

Happy Birthday to him!!! Great shots of him at the table and of the food.

And that's great that Disney didn't charge you for the cancellation.

Dinner looks and sounds like a lot of fun :) glad the change worked out.

One day I must try the PB & J milkshake, I've heard they're amazing. I always get the strawberry one.

Dinner looks very nice! And how cute to have the whole dining room sing "Happy Birthday" to Calvin. He looks so happy.

Sorry for being missing for a while now. The end of the school year is coming closer and it gets really hectic around this time.

The meal at 50's looks like it was a huge success!!! There weren't any negative comments, so does that mean that your DH is ok with the menu there now? Or does he even remember the meal??? :lmao::rotfl2:

Hi Alicia! I get the impression that your DH really wanted to eat at 50's PT! ;) That whole interaction was too funny. Your DS looked like he enjoyed himself even without the extra special birthday attention.

50's PT is my favorite DHS restaurant....I haven't been back to HBD since 2012 when we had an encounter with one of Mickey's distant relatives. Yikes!

At least your mom knew the remedy for what ailed her! Your popcorn and a cocktail. That made for their own version of happy hour.

I'll be in touch about the July dates since I know your dance card will fill up quickly with requests. :thumbsup2

The expression on DS's face while they were singing the birthday song -- too cute! I'm really looking forward to 50s Prime Time. I'm not expecting gourmet food but it looks yummy and so much fun.

Did you end up watching?!
I did, thanks for posting it! I actually was lucky enough to tune in right before Wishes, so I was able to see that and Celebrate the Magic and parts of the parade and just some random stuff (I was jumping between that and the DIS).

Great update. I REALLY want to go to Prime Time now, after seeing all of that. Looks like such a fun environment and great food and shakes. So glad Calvin had a fun birthday celebration! Very nice that they did that for him.

What a sweet birthday and update overall! I used to think that experiences like this were wasted on kids so young, but your DS completely understood what was going on and had a great time! We saw a young baby girl at 1900 Park Fare the other night and she loved meeting Prince Charming, Cinderella and the stepsisters.

The food looks tasty too. Some day we'll try 50s PT. I'm glad everyone liked the meal.

aw, your son looks just so pleased with all the attention - that is so great!

certainly looks like a lot of food to me - good call in splitting that entree --- especially with the onion rings to start and then a milkshake on the side!

oooh, surprise date night?!?!? congratulations!

I've been a little absent because it's been crazy!

I had two baby showers this weekend. My SIL's and my BFF. I was in charge of the dessert table for 80 people people so I was RIDICULOUS busy with making: Petite Vanilla Bean Scones, Madeleines, Mini Cappuccino Cupcakes, Lemon Bars, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Summer Berry Iced Tea, Peach Iced Tea and Unsweetened English Breakfast Tea. I ended up with over 100 scones, 100 madeleines, 150 cupcakes, 75 lemon squares and 100 strawberries. Now if anyone knows me, they know I have tendonitis and my hands become pretty much useless after a few hours of baking, so I started my baking on Thursday night, then baked all day Friday up until 11:30 that night. Had to be at the venue at 8 so needed to be up at 6 to finish off my dessert labels and wrap my menus...and wrap her presents. But the shower was definitely a success!

I printed out the menu on textured cardstock, cut with those decorative edged scissors and wrapped the menu in a doily

My DB has his own landscaping company and was able to borrow trees from a local nursery and used some for the decorations

His room is Mickey themed so someone painted Mickey on this canvas and everyone that came in put their fingerprint down to make a bouquet of balloons to hang up in the nursery.

After everyone left and helping take down, I ended up not getting home until after 4. My DB invited everyone over for pizza at their house at 6 so we headed over there. While eating dinner, DH was watching DS play in their living room...a non-baby proof house...see where i'm going with this. In fact, not even a minute before the accident happened, I mentioned to SIL that she's going to have to baby proof soon because they have glass everywhere and things are lower to the ground. A minute later, I hear a crash and a scream and DH running over to DS. He had tripped and didn't think it was a big deal until DH said He's bleeding really bad grab towels! He tripped on their fireplace flooring (the elevated part) and his chin went straight down into one of her tall vases that was on the fireplace floor as decoration. A very deep, clean cut that was gushing. Everyone kept saying go to the hospital now, so we got in the car and headed straight there.

We were given two options. Skin glue or stitches but either way he was going to scar. We were told skin glue was the fastest way because we were already there at close to 3 hours at that point, but they said it was hurt like H***. Great. But I wanted this to be over for him, poor guy. It took DH and I, two nurses and a doctor to hold him down to get the dermabond on. DH started freaking because after the put the glue in, DS started shaking his head, almost like convulsing, but the DR said it was from pain. Ugh, I don't even like thinking about it:sad2: But a minute later he was fine, just crying hysterically and they discharged us quickly.

It was almost 10 by the time we got home...I had been up for days it seemed like, AND the next day was my BFF's baby shower.

This weekend was absolutely nuts so sorry I've been away. I also needed to give my hands a break from the computer and rest in general. My right hand still hurts but not as bad.

SOOOO with that said, i'll be off to catch up on TR's!

Beautiful dessert platters you did there!!! You are a saint for doing all that!

I'm so sorry about the accident! Poor little guy! The good thing is that they are so resilient so it's more traumatic for us than it is them. As for the scar? It will be a good conversation started!

You did a great job with the baby shower! If I had to prepare all of that the only thing my fingers would be doing is dialing a phone to call a bakery :rotfl:

And what a cute idea for the picture using the finger prints to make the balloons!

Oh, gosh, so sorry to hear about your son! Little boys seem to find the one thing that will get them into trouble/hurt them - so a non-baby proof house is just a danger zone. "he was fine, just crying hysterically" .. easy to type now I am sure. Glad that it wasn't worse though.

Just remember that: "Pain is temporary, glory lives forever, chicks dig scars" ;)

The desserts look awesome! :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear about Calvin. That isn't any fun at all... for him or you. I guess if you want to take something positive away from it, maybe this accident will ensure that his cousin will grow up in a child proof home.

Hi Lesha,

Wow, those desserts sound and look amazing! What a great baby shower with lots of creative ideas. I bet everyone loved and appreciated all the effort you made. Your poor hands though!

Poor Calvin :( I'm sorry he had to go through that pain but glad he is fine now.

Poor Calvin. But you know boys always get hurt. It's a rule. I remember when Brian cut himself right above the eye and it took 4 people to hold him down while a plastic surgeon sewed him up. He did such a great job because he was, after all, a plastic surgeon. :rotfl:

What a long exhausting day but you did a wonderful job with the baby shower and all those goodies look so yummy. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! You did a fantastic job on the shower, all those treats look incredible! I don't think I'm going to be able to have kids in my house until they are teen age or older, unless they are restrained. When you visit in July, you'll get a taste of why, our house will be furnished almost entirely with glass cabinets, which are dangerous. Then there is the pool, ugh.

I'm sorry you had to go through that with your DS after all that work that you did. I'm sure you were exhausted!

Wow, great job on the desserts, they look really good. Glad Calvin is going to be ok, but sorry about the pain he had to go through
