I know how great Disney is with food allergies, as we've been before and we were amazed at the service the chef's gave us. :thumbsup2

However, we're celebrating my son's birthday at Liberty Tree Taven for dinner. I know that often people order cakes, I was wondering if anyone has personal experience with ordering a cake for someone with food allergies? My son is allergic to dairy, gluten (wheat), and soy. Basically all the major ingredients to cake. ;) I have pre-packaged cake mix at home made by The Gluten Free Pantry and we just use water or juice instead of milk. I'm wondering if they'll be able to make him a cake... :confused3

Now before you tell me to just call and ask, I do plan on calling tomorrow and asking, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks so much! :p

I don't know, but please post when you find out. I thought ds and I were the only ones that are allergic to both gluten AND soy. Don't have problems with dairy yet, but both g and s allergies have developed in the last 7 years:confused3 so who knows. :guilty: What is good menu wise at LTT that is gf and sf?

Thanks! I will post tomorrow after I talk with the bakery. As for the menu at LTT, I checked out the menu at allearsnet.com and it seems they have roasted turkey, carved beef and boneless ham, along with potatoes and things. My son usually only goes for meat (he's pretty picky along with the allergies :rolleyes2 ) I do plan on calling the restaurants about a week before to talk with the food allergy person and ask if they can modify the potatoes. His "plan b" meal is always a bunless burger with a side of bacon and a dry baked potato. :thumbsup2

A note about his soy allergy. It showed up after his milk allergy. I guess the soy protein is very similar to the milk protein and 40% of people with a milk allergy also have a soy allergy. Where did I get that stat? I can't remember. :lmao: But I'm sure google will find it for me again. And the funny thing is, I find soy in more things than gluten and milk! That's why he can't have MSG, or prepacked chocolate chips. Evil lecithin. :stir:

But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, so I'll step off the soap box. :lmao:

My 4 yr old son has a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and is type 1 diabetic so a few food challenges for us. I highly recommend calling Brenda Bennett at Magic Kingdom Foods at 407-824-5967. She is an absolute goddess and is extremely helpful with food issues at all four of the parks. I just talked to her yesterday (she still had all our info on file from our visit last year!) and she can send you a list of items in all 4 parks that are safe (or unsafe) - it is about 6 Word document files. She will know about the cake or can find out. It could be that with advance notice the WDW chefs can aquire the right stuff (maybe even that same cake mix) and prepare something for you. I'm guessing you've talked to her in the past as the "food allergy person"!

She makes Disney magical for us when it comes to dining that's for sure! :thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with her! She is a goddess! She took care of everything, and she's contacting all the resteraunts that I have ADR's at for me, and she's also tyring to figure out the cake situation! I am so sending her a thank you card with a tip! :thumbsup2 She rocks!
