You might want to contact the airline and see if you can get them into Miami or West Palm Beach.

Where exactly is their cruise out of? It it is out of FLL then try and get them a flight to West Palm Beach and a car service to the port in Fort Lauderdale. If they are going out of Miami then Miami is the better of the two options.

What airline are they flying? Terminal 2 is Delta and Air Canada so unless they are flying those two I don't imagine the other terminals will be affected much beyond stricter security so they should be on schedule. If it is Delta I would get on the phone now and try to get them moved to the other airports and just schedule some extra time for them.

They're flying on JetBlue, so that info about the shooting being in the Delta/Air Canada terminal is helpful. JetBlue doesn't fly into Miami, so that isn't an option. (Well, technically I could purchase them tickets on another airline but that will be very expensive.) They DO fly to West Palm, and I checked and there is a flight from JFK an hour after the one I have them scheduled on to FLL. That West Palm flight is my back up. I'll be watching closely to see if FLL resumes operations in the other terminals. I finally had to hang up with JetBlue customer service, was on hold forever and I'm at my 'real' job. But I'll try again later to see what they say.

I just had to call this poor lady, who has been ill and undergoing treatments and SO looking forward to this trip, because I wanted her to hear about it from me and for her to know we're keeping an eye on it and that I'll update her right away if we have to make any changes.

Witness was on the phone giving a live report, until a couple of minutes ago. LEO had everyone on the floor ...patting them down. It was his turn to be searched and had to hang up.

Just for further help if you can't get them on a flight out of JFK then Jetblue also goes from La Guardia and Newark to West Palm. In an situation like this Jetblue often will allow you to switch to another air port if needed in NYC.

How scary! We've been following CNN since it was first reported. They have one commentator that's really armchair quarterbacking the law enforcement and security right now saying that they're so disorganized and there shouldn't be people running or chaos. It's like, hello! If there is a shooter, there is going to be people running and chaos. I just hope everyone stays safe.

My BIL is there now (in a plane being held indefinitely on the tarmac) far away from the shooting but terrifying. I didn't know he was flying today (heck, I didn't know there was a shooting) until I got a frantic phone call from MIL that she can't contact him. He checked in on facebook about 15 minutes later. All is well.
