We are in Canada, but drive to Portland Maine to fly out as it is MUCH cheaper to fly domestically to DW. Plus we like our little road trip.

We have yet to purchase our plane tickets. I have been waiting and watching. Haven't had all our flight money in order (and won't for another week) I just noticed prices went up, however they seem to fluxuate regardless. (kayak.com)

Wondering when YOU think I should buy. Obviously if the cheap flight comes up I will buy, but if waiting 2 weeks before in your opinion is cheapest, let me know. I am curious to know if they do go on sale.

Or at least give me peace of mind that sept 1 they will start some seat sales. I need to buy 4 seats.

Our past 2 trips to DW were in Dec, first year we got $79 each way through AirTran. Would LOVE to get that again!!

Thanks!!

We are flying out very end of Sept and first of October back home. Not your actual airport, but NE. Our flights were low for the last few months and slowly are on the rise right now. Non-stop is climbing but the plane changes or stop flights are still low. I would suspect you would need to book very soon. Good luck.

Ugh..I feel for ya on the flights out of Portland. We're in Maine, flying to Orlando the first week of Oct too, and I watched flights on both AirTran and JetBlue daily....finally decided on Southwest out of Manchester NH as that's what we've always flown - 89 ea way, nonstop. I know that drive from Canada down is a bear, but maybe Manchester would be a better option? Or, have you checked Bangor?

would it be worth driving on down to boston maybe and doing the park-sleep-fly thing? We got a/f for $200 per person for the first of December this morning. We think it's a darn good price.

We fly out of Denver and I purchased our airfare the first day that Southwest
opened up flights for Sept. and it's a good thing that I did because
I got Non-stop RT for $200.00 but very shortly after these same flight went up to 358.00 and have never went down again (it check almost everyday)
I would like to get a later return flight but I won't pay that much to get it.

How far is Manchester, or Boston, from Portland? I have a rough idea, but would like to know for certain. We are in Moncton, NB, so it is a 7 hour drive (straight) from here. It's not the going, it's the coming. I will check Bangor, but many airlines don't fly out of there any more.

I booked flights to Orlando a week and a half ago on Southwest and got $59 one way and $67 the other. They have been creeping up since then.

rand mcnally says boston is 100 miles...2 hours but, of course, traffic could significantly impact that.

Try Bing Farecaster. (just google it). I found it extrememly accurate for my trip, bought when it suggested (and I thought I was doomed because I waited too long) and I saved a bunch on a direct flight at the exact times I was looking for.
It's free too.:)

Oooh I know Moncton! We used to camp up that way....I love NB! Manchester is roughly an hour and a half from Portland I would guess. And Boston...that I am not totally sure maybe 2 or 3 hours from Portland? Yeah, I know Bangor kinda sucks as far as airline choices.
