Flight in February

Hi,
We are planning a trip the 3rd week of Feb. 2012.
Where do you thinkI should start for finding the best flight deal?

I need flights for 5 of us for under $300 each. (my goal)!

Try kayak.com it is a search engine that researches most airlines for you. If you are talking about President's week (Mon February 20) it is hard to get good airfare unless you are flexible with your dates. Flying on tues or wednesdays will be much cheaper.

Try www.southwest.com I don't know if they fly out of your airport or not.
But they do not use the broad airline sites, so you have to use their site for prices.

We are set for our February flights which are during President's week but you have to shop early and it may be too late. We got Non-stops into MCO for $240 round trip. Now everything is around $500 or connectings for somewhat less. Good luck.

I see that flights out of DTW in Feb are running $272 rt. on SWA. No baggage fees on SWA. Also remember flying on a Tue or Wed is sometimes cheaper.

We are also flying the same week from the Boston area. The airfares to Orlando are outrageous 350.00 one way yikes! I miss the good old days of cheap ding fares. It is school vacation week for us and we knew that they would be higher but geez.... I am hoping they come down a bit.

We got our President's Day week tix from southwest for $304 each. It was the same price if we flew on a Tuesday or a Saturday. That was the lowest I've seen and I didn't want to risk them going up more, so I just bought at that price.

That is President's Week. Start shopping *right now*. Even though not all Michigan schools have that particular week off, airfares for that week are significantly higher than other times during the month---I know, because my kids *do* have that week, and I've been watching airfare for a while. You can get connecting flights out of DTW right around $300 on Southwest for a Saturday-to-Saturday trip. Even though those are connecting flights, and at sub-optimal times, if you are serious about $300 per person, buy them right now and don't look back.

We bought flights as soon as AirTran released, just a bit more than a week ago, and got about $310 for non-stop flights, including all fees (seat selection, baggage). Today, that same flight would be about $500.

I was able to get 5 Rt tix from ROC to MCO 2/23 w a return 3/6 $1190 total.

We're taking a cruise w DCL on 2/25.

I couldn't believe my good luck ; Delta was having a great sale~ keep watching.

And I bought last Tuesday ;if that helps .

I watched flights for quite sometime, hoping to find something I could accept. My goal had been to catch Jetblue releasing their flights. I missed it by 10 hours by not checking my email for a few days. In the end, I had to reschedule my trip from Feb18-25 to Feb 19-26, to avoid long layovers (6 hour) with two little ones. Cost about 450 each from Syracuse,NY on United. Would have been 600+ on jetblue....

Agreed, President's day is Monday 2/20 and my wife and child have the rest of the week off, through 2/24, so we are leaving 2/17 (Friday) and returning on 2/25 (Saturday).

But if you are talking about a school calendar with the week off, flying down on the Thursday of that week doesn't really help that much...
