Five Years On...

The best change for me is ILL, LLPP, LLMP (although I wish to have Genie+ back). Pre-Covid, it took us several trips before we could ride FOP because I refused to stand in line for 3-5 hours. I never liked VQ and was unable to ride ROTR until after Covid. Now, we can show up whenever and ride whatever. We currently go to WDW more often because the trips are more relaxing.
Are you somebody that typically stays offsite? We were able to grab fast pass 60 days out before and grab FOP. ROTR would have eventually made it onto the list of FP choices as well

We always stay onsite. It was just difficult for me to get VQ and certain FP. I much prefer the current offers.

I was pretty shocked when I stayed at a moderate for the first time last year and realized they hadn’t brought back daily housekeeping. That is definitely something that is out of step with the industry as a whole. Most hotels I’ve stayed at have brought it back after experimenting with reducing housekeeping.
It is out of step with the industry for the price point, but not for the product category is my understanding.

Club Level evening turndown service never returned.

(I know, boo hoo, but it was among the ‘small things’ operational changes that occurred)

I miss the resort fun runs. I think they went away about the time of COVID and have yet (hopeful adverb) to return.

Was Magical Express and delivery of purchases from park to resort eliminated because of the pandemic?
I think Disney might have predicted that Uber etc. was gonna be a big factor to airport travel, and more importantly the ease of you going to other park or hotel without a car.
I always felt the main reason they did it was to offer reason for you to not rent car, but once they saw uber coming that strategy was moot.
Plus more people were trying to swing with just carryons which really makes it an iffy benefit.

I understood the cancelling of Magical Express, did not like it because used it all the time. Took the time to look into the issues and the dollars just did not make sense from Disney's stand point. The ending of packages being delivered to resort is a different issue. Used it all the time, and used to make multiple purchases on any given trip--and I go 2 to 3 times a year. Now, since neither my wife or I want to carry around packages, impulse purchases do not happen. Our purchases have gone done significantly, in fact there are trips were we buy nothing at all. Heck, we have a friend who takes care of our cats when we are gone and we do not even buy her a Disney gift--now usually a gift card to a local restaurant. So just from us, Disney has lost hundreds (maybe even thousands) of dollars in purchases.
