First Time Wait List Questions

I have never been placed on the waiting list until today. I am wait-listed for just 1 day of a 4 night stay we have at BWV--we got the other 3 nights that we wanted. I have a couple questions that I was hoping some of you experts can help me out with...

I selected the option to have them automatically book the room if it becomes available up until 7 days prior to arrival. What happens after 7 days if I still haven't gotten the room? Is the wait list system pretty good or is it a good idea to call from time to time to check on it? Can MS tell you where you stand in the wait list?

Also, how is the view handled for BWV. We are in a preferred view 1 BR for the other 3 nights. Will they only match me up of a preferred view becomes available? What if a standard or boardwalk view 1BR is available? Ultimately, we would really like to be in a boardwalk view or standard view, but I know how hard they are to come by. Is it possible to be wait listed for those views even on the other nights that we have the preferred view? I don't want to end up in a messy situation where we have to change rooms every few nights for the view, but just curious.

At 7 days, all waitlists end. If you are still interested at that point, you'll need to call every day to see if something is available.

Opinions vary - theoretically, if you are on the waitlist, you shouldn't have to call. IMHO, it doesn't hurt to call every so often just to check and to make sure you are still on the waitlist.

No.

Standard view and Boardwalk view are separate categories from Preferred view - pool/garden. I'm sure you are on the waitlist for the same thing as your first three nights unless you asked to be on something different or on a waitlist for all three. Wouldn't hurt to call MS back and check for sure. I assume you do not want to change rooms during your stay.

You could ask to be waitlisted for a boardwalk view or standard view for the whole stay - i.e., waitlist for all 4 nights to come available together. For example, if you can get all 4 nights in a Boardwalk view, MS books it for you. Other wise, you pass and kee p what you have. It is less likely to come through like that, but you won't be taking a chance on having to change rooms either.

Best wishes -

Thanks CarolMN for your responses. I might give MS a quick call and double check that I am on the wait list as well as ask about the waitlist for the various views. I hope our first night comes through!
