First time to WDW

We are thinking about staying off site for the first half of our trip. Thinking about Days Suites Maingate East, Quality Suites Maingate East or Island One Resorts. Any thoughts? We have two children ages 6 & 8 and are looking for a place with a kitchen and a nice pool.

For the second half of our trip we would like to stay on resort. Has anyone else ever done this? If so, would you do it again?

We will be there from Nov 2-11/02 and can't wait.

November is value season. I would book the All Stars . The kids would love it! Then wait for any discounts to come out. They don't have a kitchen, but the food court is so nice and they do have a toaster and microwave. If you really want to be offsite, try valuetrips.com. They have really good deals. How about Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay??

If this is your first trip, I would try to stay onsite!!!! the All Stars is great for kids!!!!! The bus servcie is excellent!

Does all Stars have a toaster and Microwave for guests to use when ever they want?

The All Stars microwave and toaster are available during food court hours. Of course it's more convenient to have them in your room, but the All Stars are laid out so none of the buildings have a very long walk compared to some of the more spread out resorts like CSR and CBR.

I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing my food there to warm up and then eating it in the food court. However, I'm sure many people do it without a problem.

CountryDuck there are actually good reviews from guests who stayed at Days Suites Maingate East in the past that you may want to do a search on; maybe worth taking a look at if you're interested.

Hello CountryDuck- I'd like to suggest Holiday Inn Family Suites(HIFS). master bedroom, kidsroom w/ bunkbeds,in room nintendo, small living room, 3 T.V.s, mini kitchen,microwave,coffee maker. Huge pool(very,very kid freindly) free huge breakfast buffet for all, there a special running now for 109.00 you get add. 2 dinner buffets for the adults. Kids eat free lunch and dinner with paying adult. Nighttime fun( kareoke, bingo, dancing, very family oriented).It's about 3 miles from disney. If your not sure, start a new thread and ask for opinions on HIFS or do a search for HIFS.

hi, i would also suggest staying at AS MOVIES we were there 6 nights in april and loved it. when you call disney ask if there are any specials going on at that time. i would also suggest getting a disney club memebership i think it is like 39.95 for a year and they most of the time offer special rates that is what i did before i booked our ressie and it can also save you 10 to 20% on certain restaurants and merchandise. the website is www.disneyclub.com. hope this helps you out. have a wonderful time. misty

If you haven't already found out about it, the special is from the Florida lottery. If you bring a losing ( play fla. lottery) ticket with you, you can use the discount. You can book the room now( if it's still available and if any rooms are left for that promotion) just make sure to get your lottery ticket. I read another post of someone having extras. Call the HIFS directly and ask if the promotion is available for your vacation times.
