In Feb. we will be flying SW for the first time. Could someone please explain to me the ins and outs of flying with SW!!

I know that I need to check in 24 hours in advance to get a Better Boarding number which will not be a problem since we will be at home the day before.

But how am I supposed to do this the day before we leave? When 24 hours before we leave we will be in Epcot celebrating my twins 8th Birthday??!!

Go to guest relations. you can check in and print your boarding pass there

You could also sign up for Early Bird Check In (EBCI). It costs $10 per ticket, but they'll automatically check you in at the 36 hour mark and you don't have to worry about it.

There are a couple of threads about it on this board, if you want more information.

If you have web access on your phone you can check in at mobile.southwest.com (I think that's the address). That's what we do when traveling.

My husband has a black berry wonder if we can do it on there? But it will not print the boarding passes from it??

You don't have to print your boarding pass in order to keep your check in order. You can reprint boarding passes later on at the hotel or at the airport when you check your bags.

No worries - let me try and sum it up for you :)

No matter how or when you check in you can always print or reprint your boarding passes at any point, including when you get to the airport.

For check in -

You can purchase Early Bird Check In for $10.00 per person and SWA will check you in ahead of the rest - 36 hours in advance.

You can check in at any guest relations at the parks, hotels and DTD. You can use a cellphone, blackbery etc to check in yourself or you can have a trusted friend or family member check you in from home.

If your going to use guest relations be sure and bring ID and your confirmation numbers, IMHO its a good idea to plan ahead in case there is a line. You want to check in as close to 24 hours prior to your flight as possible.

I have one more question I have a credit from SW how can I use it to purchase more airline tickets??

When you go to check out online there is a section that says "Apply Travel Funds". You will enter the conf# associated with the credit there.

Your credits are good for one year from the date of original purchase, not flight date. Which means that you must fly within 1 year of your original purchase date, not just purchase another ticket.

Like the previous posters said you don't need the boarding pass print out, so what I always do is have someone at home log on to Southwest for me to get our boarding passes. It only takes 2 seconds to do.

A few years ago we had credits just about ready to expire. I booked a flight with the credits and canceled them right away. My credit now had the new purchase date as my original purchase date. I don't know if you can still do this? I never even come close now. We seem to fly every six months.
