My husband and I are flying Jetblue for the first time next month. Is it like Southwest-I have to checkin at exactly 25 hours before? Do I wait on line for seats at the airport or are there assigned seats? Anything else I should know would be appreciated. We are flying out of JFK in New York. Thank you!

You should have been able to choose your seats when you booked your airfare. JB doesn't work the same way SW does. After you have chosen your flights, and paid for them, a screen comes up that allows you to choose your seats, for each leg of the trip.
So, no, you do not have to be online 24 hrs before flight departure. I usually checkin online the morning of my flight though. Seems to make things go more smoothly when I arrive at the airport.

You can probably still choose your seats online. If you pull up your reservation, there are options that include "select or change seat". So if you have not already done so, try that. There is also a map of the seats on the plane and which ones are available. Just note that if you want the extra leg room seats, there is an additional charge.

We just flew Jet Blue last week and they are great! All flights were on time (actually early). The seats leather are so comfortable. I was in a middle seat and there was so much room, it did not feel like a middle seat! We love having the tvs, too.

As others have mentioned, different from SW. No requirement to check in 24 hours ahead of time. You can choose your seats if you have not done so yet. Make sure you bring your headphones or buy them ahead of time if you plan on using the tv. They do not sell them on the plane until you are in the air and that can be up to 20-30 mins after you take off. Use your ipod or similar headphones it is easier. You can ask for the whole can of soda if you want it. Movies are offered for a fee. Curbside checkin costs a few dollars extra.

Thanks everyone for the great tips! I called and got seat assignments. Thanks for the headphone tip also-I'm sure I would not have remembered that!

We are flying jet blue for the first time in Sept as well. We are flying out of Richmond, Va. We chose our seats when we booked our flight. Thanks also to whoever noted about bringing out own headphones. I didn't know how that worked, and I'm sure you can get them at walmart alot cheaper then on the plane lol

I do love jetBlue!

I've had a couple of issues and they've always been willing to work them out with me. Nothing horrendous, either.

We had a flight to Orlando connecting through JFK one year. We have a 2 year old who had fallen asleep in her car seat on the plane right before we landed. Miraculously, she remained asleep even after everyone got off the plane.

We asked the in-flight crew if we could just stay on the plane, since it was the same one that would be flying us into Orlando, and also since we had the same seats for the flight into Orlando.

They were REALLY helpful. They told us straight away that they weren't supposed to let us do that, but they'd ask. They came back and had checked us in for the second flight and told us it was no problem.

That's a not-so-little thing - but it's stuff like this that makes me very loyal to jetBlue.

Also, our last trip - we were on the plane, and taxing when all of a sudden, we came to a dead stop and waited and waited and waited and waited. There was a mechanical problem with the plane. They got all of us to another gate, and onto another plane. About a week or so, we all got a $25 voucher via E-Mail for travel - with no expiration date. I said nothing to customer service - jetBlue took the initiative to send it out.

I <3 jetBlue. :)

Actually, maybe not... I believe they're $2 so if you forget it's not a big deal... btw, there's usually a bin of them by the gate where you board so you don't need to wait for the flight attendant to bring them around. :thumbsup2

Love Jet Blue!:cloud9:

I love JetBlue, always use it when I can. You will also enjoy the TVs on the back of every seat. It really helps to keep the kids quiet and the trip seems to go faster.

One big thing to keep inn mind if flying out of JFK. JB has tons of flights in the morning and between 7 and 10 leave lots of extra time to get thru security. Thye have great new terminal there so go early and enjoy it
