First pair of eyeglasses. Need suggestions for high end styles.

100% true. I change my glasses annually and over the past 5 years or so, have shopped at a large Canadian chain that has literally 1,000's of frames in-stock. They have everything from $29 specials to separate little rooms they call "boutiques" individually displaying Prada, Chanel, Versace and D&G, as well as a separate Oakley and Ray-Ban sunglass "boutique". I've spent hours and hours and hours over the years trying on and choosing pairs. Seeing them up-close, feeling them, really evaluating them first-hand.

I can assure the OP that virtually all the designer styles are replicated over-and-over again in the less-expensive lines. They all roll off the exact same production lines - the quality is really no different. How can it be? Plastic and wire is plastic and wire. I don't begrudge anyone who gets personal satisfaction out of owing "brands". It is impossible for anybody but the owner to tell the difference though, without the visible badge.

It’s more about the fit than the brand. Buy what works best for you. The brand name is meaningless. My last pair were cheaper than my current pair. I basically buy what fits best. Sometimes it’s the cheap frames. Sometimes it’s the more expensive ones. But they’re all made by the same company.

And I always try to find frames at Costco. That’s a problem now. But it’s always worth trying them out. They have really good prices.

Usually, I either go for Ray-Ban or any other brand that offers classic rounded or pantoscopic styles. I can't stand boxy lenses as they often have a poor FOV, and I tend to prefer rounded lenses that are close to the classic NHS/early post-deregulation styles of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Oh! I learned a new word: pantoscopic. I avoid those styles because my cheeks bump up against them. I have pretty high cheekbones.

I cannot stand frames touching my face either. When I was trying on glasses the pair that I currently felt like they were made for me. A perfect fit. I didn't care about the brand as much as the fit. Unfortunately the best fit was an expensive pair. (I wear progressive lenses so they were even more expensive.)

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I have a larger face/head and most of the glasses that I have tried on are too small. Yes, I agree my main priority is to find a pair that fits my face.
If you find a frame you like, it may come in a bigger size. I recently bought a pair of Sillouette glasses and I love how lightweight and comfy they are. And stylin'!
