Hi everyone

I was just wondering what you all do when you first arrive into disney?

As we fly with virgin we arrive into orlando early afternoon, but we have the airport hassle to do first and checking in at disney. But after all that we like to go to DTD.

On our first full day we always go to MK :woohoo:

Just curious as to what you all do on the afternoon / evening you arrive into disney?

Do you have any traditions that you live by when you go to disney?

We fly VA so don't usually get to the resort until about 5pm. We unpack completely, walk around the resort, get a drink (nothing to eat as we would already have eaten breakfast, and two meals on the aircraft and anymore would be greedy)quick swim, watch a little TV and go to bed. We might possibly walk to Epcot and have a walk around there before bed.

We were thinking of heading to Downtown Disney, have a walk around, grab some food. Other than that we will head to a park for an hour to see the fireworks, this will give the kids a real taste of Disney. We were thinking of making an ADR but i was a bit worried just incase our flight got delayed. The first thing my Fiance wants to do is shop, he loves all the designer bargins!

Good question, mine as usual is a long-winded answer ;)

Usually we just head off to the rented villa , unpack , just ensure Josh is okay after the long day , he generally just watches one of the many video's we bring for him and winds down etc - I after unpacking and settling down, head off to the Publix for a 'big shop'.
..and normally that is it, Josh isn't one for going out much in the evening anyway.

This year however, it's totally different, the 1st night we are staying at the Hyatt airport hotel (long story but we were planning a Miami trip the following day but changed our minds)....so it will be checking in to the room/similar plans for Josh/getting something to eat at the airport and once he is asleep and settled I will have a couple of drinks at the bar downstairs, Julie probably watching TV.
Actually I am quite looking forward to our night there, with no pressure on rushing around after we arrive and the only time I have the odd drink is on holiday.

To be honest going out to a park or somewhere is just never in our plan and with a 3 week holiday no need to rush around.

Last time we went were were staying offsite self catered so we went to publix and bought some dinner then we unpacked and chilled with drinks on the balcony then went to bed and woke up to a hurricane.

This time we land about 5.30 so by the time we've done airport and transfers I think we'll just be checking out the resort (ASMo's), maybe going for a swim and heading to bed. We might go DTD if we're not so worn out but we won't be going to a park as we've got 14 full days after and don't want to use a 'day' just to go to fireworks....we could always go to poly beach to watch wishes

We unpack, walk around the resort and then go for a nice table service meal, then off to bed.

We always go straight to the Magic Kingdom! Mad I know, but we just can't wait til the next day. Its straight from the airport to the hotel, a quick unpack, shower and change then off to the Magic Kingdom. Our first ride is always The Haunted Mansion and as we don't normally feel like having much to eat after such a long day, we then share a pretzel as our dinner! We stay until the fireworks start so we're usually watching them whilst on the boat back to the TTC. This means we're not battling the crowds to either get out of the park or the car park. By the time we get to bed we're totally whacked but it means we get a good night sleep without waking up at our normal UK time. Of course the next day we have to do the relaxing thing so its off to Blizzard Beach. Next year might be different as the passes have changed from a length of stay to a 14 day pass but I'm sure we'll work something out.

Normally we'd arrive late afternoon, so drop bags in the resort and hop on a bus to DTD, followed by a grab from McD's and a wander round the shops.

When I wake at 4.30am with jetlag I can unpack then !! LOL

This year though we will arrive at lunchtime so the plan is after an enroute stop at the store for essentials we'll check into the resort, quick unpack, and head to the pool for a while, after that we'll grab something to eat at either Captain Cooks or jump on the monorail and head over to the Contemporary for a while .... before crashing out.

The when I get my jetlag I can go sit on my balcony, or head down to the beach and watch the sun come up over seven seas lagoon ....... bliss

We usually arrive late afternnon ,check/settle in and then investigate the resort ,eat dinner and the relax before heading out early the next AM! :sunny:

We start by checking out the room, unpacking and then head to DTD. This year however we are staying in a different resort (POR) so we will have a wander round to get our bearings and then if not too tired we'll head to DTD, if too whacked we will just chill at the resort for evening. The first full day we always head to MK.

I can't wait

We don't get in till 6pm so it's usually about 9 by the time we arrive "home". So it's a quick unpack and then dinner at the resort, the last couple of times at Big River Grille as we were staying at the boardwalk.

Just enjoying the warmth and being at the "World". And after about an hour and a half we give up and go to bed...

In the past we have headed straight to MK after checking in and freshening up to meet friends.

Last trip we just walked to Epcot and had a quick meal in the American showcase (burger) and then walked round the World Showcase. The plan was to stay until Illuminations, but for some reason we all felt too tired so we returned to the hotel.

We usually stay on I-Drive, so just have a wander and pick up some take out. This year, we are staying on site for the first time :bitelip: so we will probably go to DTD :woohoo:

Usually we just make a trip to DTD and have a meal but this year we are going to see Pink at the HOB. No doubt we'll be knackered but hey....we're on holiday!

I always plan to visit a park or DTD but never do. What we actually do is:-

1. We find our accommodation.
2. Unpack - just the essentials, I'm another early morning unpacker.
3. Have a row - we're so tired after the journey and lack of sleep the night before due to excitement.
4. Have a meal - something quick.
5. Head off to bed.

Im always just about fit to drop when I arrive, we always have to fly into Sanford, so that puts an extra hour at least on the arrivial time,so we dont normally arrive at the resort much before 6pm local time, so we normally check in, unpack, go have a bite to eat and then bed, ready for that wake up at 4.30am bit. ;)

In the past we have had AP's or LOS passes so we just went to watch one of the firework shows MK or Epcot
Don't know this year as we are in New york first and the next day we have the Cruise so the senceable thing would be to have a chill out evening
but some how can't see that happening :rotfl2:

We arrive in Orlando about 6pm and by the time we get the car and get to the villa (with a very quick stop en-route for milk and breakfast the next day) we will have been traveling for nearly 20 hours so all we do is swim in the pool (if there is no thunder) chill out and head to bed about 9pm.

Last year DD was awake and rearing to go at 2am the next morning so I am hoping we don't get a repeat of this :crazy2:

Josh normally wakes up in the early hours of the morning too - mind you he is generally always up before 5am anyway!

We call at a Publix, on the way to our accommodation, find the accommodation, unpack and then go for a walk to find somewhere to eat :sunny:

Then it's back to watch TV and, generally, wind down ready for the beginning of the holiday :thumbsup2
