first night, what do you all do???

This year we are flying into Orlando, instead of Sanford. So we will get to our hotel much quicker. We usually arrive late afternoon, but this time we will probably arrive at 7.30pm due to a late flight.
We will explore the resort and then head into DTD and maybe treat ourselves to an ice cream from the Soda Fountain. I'll probably be so hungry, because I hate plane meals! After that, we will head back to the resort and get some sleep before spending our traditional first day at the Magic Kingdom :thumbsup2

Shop, shop and more shop!!!
Never too tired to shop!!
Maybe get down to DTD to soak up the atmosphere!!
Can't wait!!!

When DH first visited together we went to bed for an hour when we arrived and eventually woke up at midnight and then had trouble getting back to sleep so now we never sleep until bedtime local time.
Last year we went to Jiko's for a meal as we were staying at the AKL and DS who was nearly 3 fell fast asleep and I was then starting to feel sick as I was so tired.
This year staying at the GF so will either go for a swim or head to DTD and if we have a castle view in our lagoon view come back to watch the fireworks pixiedust:

We normally arrive at Sanford, which mean by the time we get there i feel like such a mess that i don't want to be seen in public until i get my hands on a hairbrush and some clean clothes...i don't travel well :rotfl:

And normally we arrive late after the hoo-hah with the car rental (which im not complaining about, since every time we've been we've scraped an upgrade on the car!) so we'll just go check-in, pick up our mugs, fill them up, grab a snack and off to bed!

first full day we'll head to MK and have a reservation for dinner :teeth:

easy this one we oder a 16 inch pizza with double peporoni and double cascun chickien and a 6 pack of beers .If inlaws with us and they have done the beer run(shop stop) with taxi from airport there would be mor pizzas and beers.Been doing this for last 7 years

We always check in, grab a bite to eat and then the best part of the day - jump in the swimming pool :thumbsup2

Bliss after a long journey and then stepping into the August heat when exiting MCO :)

We always hit MK on the first day - this year we are breaking with tradidion (scary!!) and going to AK first for Breakfastosaurus. After that I might have to head to MK though just to prove that I am really there :teeth:

This year we will probably go straight to the villa for a to check things out, have a swim and clean up. Then out for a bite to eat and pick up some essential supplies (breakfast, sodas and ice cream :) ).

We eat well on the plane, but find another (light) meal helpful to keep us awake and get our body clocks onto local time...

Can normally sleep until about 6.30 or 7 the following day, then work out in the gym before breakfast and shower and then maybe hitting a park (MK or Sea World probably this year).

Arrive.
Get car.
Go to a supermarket and buy loads of food - letting the kids loose in the cereals aisle to buy whatever they want!
Drive to villa.
Throw kids in the pool (literally)
My DW unpacks, I cook some dinner and the kids stay in the pool. Can't imagine going to a theme park as soon as we arrive - our kids wouldn't want to go anyway as they're happy enough in the pool!

As for the first full day, this is usually a trip to I-Drive or shopping malls - the theme parks can wait!

Our first night is rather boring in comparison to some of the replies. We usually arrive at MCO around 16.30ish wait forever for car hire, get to the villa with three children in tow, one that reacts very badily when we arrive every time. Children all have a bath, I unpack, DH pops out for essentials and possibly brings in some hot food to eat, as I usually do not eat on the plane. Then put the children to bed and we follow shortly. To be awoken around 4.00am the next day by the children. I wish I had the energy to do DTD on arrival or one of the many other things that some of you do!!! :cool1:

The first night is usually as a cheapish hotel as we don't get time to enjoy it, nip to walgreen to pick up some toiletries and a relaxed casual meal, the following day iot is breakfast at Denny's and bok into a Universal hotel early :)

I'm another one who cant stand plane food...when we head out next year it'll probs be straight to the grab and go or food court for me....and we'll need to buy our refillables of course!

We're big on tradition in our house. We pick up the car at MCO tune the radio to Magic FM for a little sing song on way to hotel. We unpack then go off to Bennigans for some food and Walgreens for bits for the room. Then it's off to bed to rest up for day 1 which is always Epcot :)

Most times we don't get to the hotel till about 5-6 pm then it's a case of a quick shower & change, out for a meal; our place of choice at the moment is Bennigans but it has changed in the past. A quick stop of at either Goodings or Winn Dixie for things like Gatorade & snacks. Early night, Dennys for breakfast- paddle steamer across 7 seas lagoon & MK!!
SD :woohoo:

We normally just Relax by the pool and call for a pizza :sunny:

We are always exhausted by the time we reach the villa. Having to fly down to Gatwick first really adds to the journey time as we have to leave home at around 4.30am to get to Glasgow airport. Then once in Gatwick its a good couple of hours wait for the flight. So basically we have been up all that previous night before we even start.

Anyway, first we unpack then go out for something to eat. Simple food, nothing fancy and maybe even just McDonalds. None of us eat much on the flight, especially those toxic sandwiches that BA give as an afternoon snack! Those things are vile!

After that we just chill out at the villa. There will be a welcome pack in the kitchen so bare essentials are covered. We crash out very early and wake at a reasonable time the next morning to go for the BIG FOOD SHOP at Publix.

We go for 3 weeks so don't feel the need to rush anything. There is also no kids in our party so no compromises to be made there either.

Last year we were due to land at 4pm so I'd planned that after hotel check in etc we'd head over to the Poly for the electrical water pageant at 9, unfortunately we didn't land until 11pm so that blew that out of the water.
Hopefully we'll land on time this year and maybe we'll get to the poly for the EWP

This year we have decided that when we get to Pop Century we will have a look around, buy our refilable mugs, order a pizza and go to bed.

My wife has ME so she will need to recharge her batteries probably!

Depends on the frist resort, and if tickets are included, this years its Royal Pacific Universal and tickets are included with the first Virgin flight I expect to be there at 5pm, so either quick nip into Universal studios, or Islands Cafe for a meal and then walk around Uinversal citywalk, to stop jet lag I do not like to go to bed on first night until at least 9pm/10pm.

If its Disney we have gone into MK to do spetromagic and fireworks only, no rides and then back to the hotel.

If the tickets are not included I would go for a meal or downtown disney shopping.

We have always stayed offsite,so we would drive from sanford to sweet tomatoes for a big feast (never eat on the plane). Then roll out to the car and head for the hotel. It's usually about 10pm by now so we unpack and wait for tomorrow.
However,in May we are going to stay at movies.Never stayed in disney before so i think sweet tomatoes might be shunned in all the excitement!!!Probably DTD for a huge Ghirradellis sundae. :thumbsup2

WE stay off site & our 1st evening is supermarket & a swim.

1st full day is a Disney park usually one thats on the quiet list in the Brits Guide
