I'm coming in later on my first day than as planned, so won't be heading to any of the parks. This is a solo trip and am arriving the day after Thanksgiving. Where would you dine on your first night & why? Oh, not interested in Chef Mickey's (food was awful the last time).

I didn't vote for any of those because I haven't eaten at any of them. However, I just thought I might throw out Boatwright's over at POR. I have not yet eaten their either, but the menu looks yummy!

I originally had an ADR for Cape May for dinner, but when I found out it was a clam bake, I changed that ressie (not exactly an ideal meal for someone allergic to shellfish). :goodvibes

Oh, another suggestion... how about dinner at Olivia's up at Old Key West?

I definitely want to do Cape May sometime during my trip. I'm just wondering if it would be easier just to grab something at the hotel, then head down to DTD before it gets too crowded.

If you are heading to DTD anyway, there are plenty of good places to go there... and if you wanted something quick rather than a sit-down meal, you could go somewhere like Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich...

Again, just my thoughts.... I know we typically don't spend a lot of time at DTD so we don't try many of those places, but I'm working on changing that some... especially as we start staying over at SSR.

We always do Jiko the first night but I love Spoodles too. I voted for Spoodles. The rigatoni is delicious!

The only one of these I've eaten at is Spoodles. I didn't vote for it, however, because we didn't think it was that great. Food was just OK, not that great and service stunk.

Ohana used to be our 1st dinner, but since they changed the menu, we couldn't care less if we eat there at all. Now, we catch food wherever we happen to be....usually at the resort.

I voted for Park Fare....but that assumes that you want characters. As an adult alone, this might not be a desired feature. THat said, we've never had a bad experience there. They had added REAL scones to the menu as of December 2005. The desserts are always to die for. We have had occasional poor service there, but the food is always good.

Cape May is always good...no characters at dinner.

The others are on my "too try" list for our next trip--all grown up restaurants!

I didn't vote sice I haven't been to any of those restaurants. DH and I usually have our first night dinner at Big River Grille and Brewing on the boardwalk and then walk around. If it's not too late you can walk over to Fantasia Gardens minerature golf from there. Next trip we may do Raglan Road for our first night.

Are you doing the Dining Plan?

Yes I am.

I was thinking that since I'm staying at POFQ, I could just grab the boat down to DTD from there. Probably would not spend a ton of time there, as it's the day after Thanksgiving AND a Friday night, it's bound to get pretty crowded. Just stroll around a little, maybe hit a few stores, listen to a little music, then head back to POFQ to grab a quick swim, then to bed.
