I am 50 and I have pictures of my party.

Not a big family. Lots of friends.

The pictures are the best part I like looking at the people that were there and also the insane hair we all had! LOL! I now have framed a picture of me with my parents at my First Communion and a picture of my daughter with my parents at her first communion

I have a picture of me with a family friend. I have another picture, taken 18 years later, with the same friend, at my wedding.

My son is now 18 and he made his first communion almost 10 years ago. We gave him a little Mass book and a rosary. It was a newer edition of the same Mass book that my husband and I got when we made our first communion. He also got bibles (more than one) and rosaries, and crosses. One of my friends gave him a special Rosary that had been blessed by the Pope. Back when I made my first communion, my godmother gave me a Catholic Children's bible, which was actually still available in a later edition when my son made his first communion. Another of my aunts gave me a charm bracelet with a Miraculous medal charm, and my parents gave me a Miraculous Medal out of sterling silver that I still have and wore instead of a scapular. We had guests from out of town for his first communion, but, the entire class had a party after the first communion Mass in the parish life center, otherwise known as the school gym.

I got the best Present ever for mine... 27 years ago... An original NES! But my dad was also deployed at the time and I think that played into my gift.

My twin daughters are making theirs next month, and I'm completely lost at what to get them. We are going to Disney two weeks afterwards. But I'm like the idea of a "grown up" bible, and maybe some sort of bracelet.

At the age of First Communion, most children have a children's Bible. More of a story book.

Many receive their first "real" Bible as a gift on their special day.

My son received a trip the the ER. We had about 40 family members over and a big jumpy. My nephew brought s skateboard & my son decided to try it. He broke his arm completely in half. This was about 30 minutes into the party. My son, DH and I spent about 8 hours in the ER. They had to put him under and reset his arm. It was awful but apparently everyone stayed at our house for hours and had a great time.

For a gift we got him a jewelry keepsake box with a bible verse on it. He also got a lot of cash from his relatives. Some envelopes were already opened when he went to open them, I think people opened them & put in more cash because they felt so bad for him.

we ended up getting my son a set of black rosary beads so he has them for church. we are having a small party at our house for him.
