Yes, but unfortunately because it's an Army unit the issue sidearm is a beretta 9mm. Not my personal choice by a long shot.

I thought you guys could carry 45s now? My brother has that standard issue 9mm...yuk...its terrible.

Please, please, please do not go down that road. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

well, I see we have a great conversation to start now :) We can save it for the cruise, but suffice it to say I have my options when I leave the house. Warm summer day Glock GAP small frame or Kimber 45 Pro CDP for the cold chilly days!!

Now, next lets talk about the merits of the high velocity round vs the large slow ammo..

The Army is phasing out the 9mm in favor of the H&K 45. But, as with all things having to do with changing government policy, it will be a long wait!

ACK, only 7 pages to go. Tracy you may wanna start the new one before you go. I'll resist the temptation not to post there.

I'm a little busy right now wrapping up work things and getting packed, but I have this saved on my computer to start a new one. I'll reach out to a webmaster tomorrow afternoon to close this one and start a new one for you all.

Haven't shot an HK, but the fact that it is a 45 sure is great. I'm not a big 9mm fan.

I prefer +P ammo for my Colt 1911 45. ACP, and slower rounds for the smaller 9mm, to avoid over penetration of course. :thumbsup2 You never should have got me started Alicia!!

I prefer a good old fashioned matchlock, with proper lead balls.

The H&K 45. is an awesome weapon. The design reduces rise and kick back quite a bit. Easy double taps with this pistol. The grip is very wide and can be awkward if you have small hands. :santa:

What are you trying to say? My hands a just fine thanks ;)

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I was able to hit 6 plates from 7 yards in under 3 seconds. My CCW instructor was annoyed because he couldn't beat me!! I did it with my 1942 P-38!! My only 9mm I used it for the class since the ammo was the cheapest and we had to put over 300 rounds thru that day.

I keep my Kimber and Glock loaded with hollow points that are cheap enough for me to shoot a lot. I prefer to keep them loaded with the same rounds I can shoot at the range without problems. I'm sure you get enough time in with the rounds of your choice that it doesn't matter. Us poor civis can't get to the range as much ;)
