Any tips on taking pics with dslr camera for the fireworks? I'm not very good at all the settings (Nikon D90) and would like to get some decent night shots where the shutter stays open. I know I need a tripod (or something to hold the camera). I was thinking of doing at the dessert party too.

1) Use a tripod.
2) Use a remote shutter release (so you don't have camera shake when release the shutter)
3) Use your lowest ISO (I use 100)
4) Focus to infinity, back off a smidge, then move to manual focus so it won't have to focus every time.
5) Use an f-stop with high depth of field (I'd go between f/16 and f/22)
6) Mess around with how long you leave the shutter open. Those settings usually get me 5-7 seconds without overexposure, but it depends on how bright the bursts are.
7) For a really long shutter speed, consider using a neutral density filter.

Have fun. I love shooting fireworks at Disney!
