You don't have to pretend it was a "low key" attraction on my account. I didn't get to see it either. I know it must have been awesome. I've heard accounts of it and now it is all a dream. No really, I'll be okay in a bit.

It really was very low-key. You basically walked through the wardrobe and into Narnia with the lightpost. The White Queen made an appearance after they showed clips of the movies. What was impressive was the set and the fact that you got to walk into that wardrobe and into a snowfilled set that looked like Narnia. When I was little and I read the books, that was something I ALWAYS wanted to do and this attraction let me do that. Even if I only got to do it once, I did get to do it and I am immensely grateful for that. :goodvibes

Free tickets? Nice! They took away the cheese sauce in MK. I knew I should have said something!! :rotfl2:

I could say quite a few things in regards to this thread. BUT... the most important would be... THEY TOOK AWAY THE CHEESE SAUCE IN THE MK?!?!?!?!?!???

To be concise, sucks to be disappointed, but cut the melodrama. Boo-hoohoo. Especially with the number of visits.

The thing that annoyed me was the title "fireworks mishap". I though someone got bonked in the head with a shell.

Next week maybe they will let me stay late at the park because the airline changed my flight times, better yet, maybe Delta will give me free airfare.
Sure. Start writing the letter now.

Wow you people are brutal! You know the beauty of this website is that we can all get on here and be ourselves in the fact that we ALL love WDW!! Someone shoudn't have to get blasted and judged for the way they reacted.
Reacted? No. Felt? No. Expressed themselves on this board (within DIS standards)? No. But to be so upset and envious that some other people got free tickets for complaining about the change but that they got nothing (except a wonderful few days at Walt Disney World) to the point that they persisted until they DID get free tickets? Yep. You betcha. Just as the OP can be herself, so can all the other DISers with our own opinions.

Why exactly do so many people have to be HARSH? You wonder why kids act the way they do now a days! Seriously people! She was set on seeing a particular fireworks show which according to everything she read SHOULD have been showing.
You see harsh. Many of us just see blunt and honest. Seriously, if a poster isn't prepared to get ANY and ALL responses to a post, maybe they should reconsider posting something in the first place. I've read a couple of posts already that point out Wishes can be cancelled due to rain (or high winds). Should Walt Disney World be expected to give free tickets to every Guest in the Magic Kingdom who didn't get to see Wishes on a given night? So why should they be expected to compensate anyone who saw a DIFFERENT fireworks display from the one they thought they'd see?
DisneyLAND is notorious for cancelling fireworks when needed, i.e. when the winds indicate it would be dangerous to the surrounding area. In fact, they cancelled the display on my birthday last year, AFTER the printed start time. Dagnabit! I shoulda gone to City Hall and demanded another ticket!

Read the thread again! I certainly did not see it as "fuming". I saw it as her discussing her "mishap" and then sharing in her blessing.
Remember, she said it was her anniversary trip! Wouldn't you want everything to be perfect! You never get those memories back!
See above. The OP can easily have MANY more anniversary trips to Disney World with her boyfriend. I will NEVER have another 50th birthday. I went to DisneyLand for that event SPECIFICALLY because it and I turned fifty the same year. I never even THOUGHT to complain, and DL didn't put on any OTHER display to replace the cancelled fireworks.

Also, should all the attendees be compensated or just the disapointed ones? The ones there for special celebrations maybe?
Just the disappointed ones... who complain. Squeaky wheel and all that, ya know? ;)

Oh, yeah. At Pecos Bill's. You didn't know? :umbrella:

It's okay if people call me high-maintence. I was to a bit, but mostly just frustrated that people were being pushed away despite the fact everyone got the wrong idea. :\

I don't think you were high maintenance at all. We went to the halloween party and b/c we were stuck on splash mountain for almost an hour, we missed hallowishes. as that and the parade are the two main reasons we go to the party, I complained. at first they wanted to do nothing but give us a fast pass to splash mountain. I'm sorry, I paid $40 for this tix and that's what I get. So I pursued the matter and got a refund. And honestly, it bothers me that they are just showing hallowishes whenever when that's the draw of a party you have to pay for. so good for you!

"Much Ado About Nothing" should have been the title to this thread. I guess it just gripes me that the whole OP seemed so dramatic and attention-getting. (Maybe I just need more coffee this morning). I would never think to complain so much about something like that, and trust me, I complain when it is necessary. The cynic in me thinks maybe she was hoping for a little compensation, YOAMD, and all that, you know? All I know is that the times were changed for High School Musical when we were there (gasp!) and even my 5 YEAR OLD took it in stride since we couldn't see it and find the elusive Aurora at the same time. Oh, there's another complaint, they cancelled Let's Have a Ball that morning (10/13), so maybe I could have gotten DD a personal appearance with the princess. And we got stuck on Haunted Mansion for 30 minutes and then they shut it down without us getting to ride even after we were in our doombuggy (afraid if I complained about this, Disney might give me a free night in HM!! :rotfl2: ).

Sabbie, just be glad you live so close to WDW and can make all these trips there. If this incident gets you rolling, wait until you have kids and they are diappointed...

I see it as a generational thing. I have noticed that many teens and young adults today regard even the slightest disappointment as a catastrophe and respond with lots of drama (I WAS NERVE WRACKED). I feel there is a certain sense of entitlement and a "my way or else" attitude that comes from certain children being catered to their entire lives.

This was a fireworks show. A FIREWORKS SHOW. My father responded with less drama when he was told he needed heart bypass.

I especially like the "anniversary" part. 1 year dating a boyfriend. Ha! Give me a break.

I surely hope the OP's future is full of roses and rainbows. If this is her response to a fireworks show, I'd hate to see how she would respond in the face of an actual trauma.

I can almost hear the whining.

I don't really see where anyone is being particulary harsh to the op. People just can't see what was worth fuming about for days. I had my heart set on bigger and more important things than a firework show and sulked less than her. I WISH that my biggest concern was that they didn't show the right show on my 1-year anniversary with a boyfriend. I honestly just don't see the big deal or see what was worth the fuming and ruining a vacation.

I just think the whole think was so melodramatic. I know that this is a Disney discussion board for all things Disney, but with all that's going on in the world, I just get tired of hearing all the petty complaints.

I am a teacher of children with special needs (all my kids have mental disabilities and are in wheelchairs) and my dh teaches in an alternative school for at risk students (most of his kids have never left the county, much less been to WDW). Trust me when I say that the op is really going overboard on this. Try working with kids who really do have something to complain about, and then listen to this kind of whining. I yes I probably am being harsh, but reality has to hit sometime.
I agree puddleduck. I don't think anyone was necessarily being too harsh. When Sabbie wrote this, I'm sure she expected some criticism.

But you hit it right on the head with your example of the children with mental disabilities.

Sabbie is young, and I hope in 10 years when she remembers her 1st Anniversary, it isn't this mishap she remembers. She said EVERYTHING else went extremely well, I hope the good things are what she remembers. And I think she will because she is going to have plenty more opportunities to see Wishes.

And honestly, I hope Sabbie learns from some of this constructive criticism, and maybe next time something this minor won't make her so upset. I know sometimes it can be hard to swallow when sentimental things get taken away from you, but honestly, she would have been much better served to stay put and enjoy the fireworks as they were, knowing there's always next time. Maybe then, she could have written a letter to the proper authority upon returning home. It sounds like a lot of time and energy was wasted complaining to CM's who haven't any authority to do anything about it. I could kind of understand if maybe this was the last time Wishes was ever supposed to be shown. Now that would be a let down. she shoud be thankful that she lives so close to the World and that she'll see them again soon enough.

Just my thoughts.

Never ceases to amaze me what people complain about these days. Is there such a thing as "higher" maintenance??

WHAT?!?!?!?! The cheese sauce? What next? The hamburger fixin's bar? Napkins?

:teeth:

Seriously, the cheese sauce is gone?

All they have to do now is start doing the Boo too You parade on none MNSSHP nights and all will be well with the world. ;)

We could have saved a lot of money if I'd known they were going to have Hallowishes on none party nights. Thats half the reason we went!

Well, you gotta rough life ahead if this made you this upset!!!

Ive had 2 trips cancelled in the past 2 years....I'd just like to go and see any fireworks...wishes..hallowishes...heck I could even skip seeing fireworks just to be able to be there for a few days and leave my daily life behind for a bit! :sad2:

I was a little upset by missing Wishes too, but I am just using it as an excuse to go back. :thumbsup2 And I know that I am lucky that I can go back when I choose, many people don't have that luxery. But the OP does have that choice, so I don't understand why it is such a big deal to them.

You make the choice to feel grateful, happy, thankful and appreciative etc. or dissapointed, wronged or nerve wracked etc.

You were lucky enough to be at MK with your boyfriend on your "anniversary" during a fireworks show and all you can think about is that it was the wrong show? FWIW a fireworks show that in part caused me to spend an extra $200 during our trip to see, try and think about how that reads for a minute. Instead of enjoying the show you did see you head to GR and spend your time complaning.

You can feel unlucky that you can only take a few trips a year because you are a college student. Or you can feel lucky that you are able to take a few trips a year while in college. My neice is lucky she can afford to be in college despite a p/t job hard work and great grades in HS and College with a few scholarships.

You had a "dissapointment" but instead of making the choice to be thankful for what you did have you chose to concentrate on what you didn't couldn't have.

I am sorry that you were dissapointed, really. In the future I hope that you can think about putting things into perspective a bit - you will be much happier in the longrun.

I'd honestly consider it a bit different if you were stuck on a ride for an hour. That IS an inconvenience and unlike the OP, you didn't get to see ANY fireworks. I've heard that Disney does compensate for this kinda thing, so you could probably write about it. :thumbsup2 That's why I never go on a ride if I have an "appointment" in under an hour. I've read too many times about that kind of thing happening to people. I just finally convinced myself to go on SE this last time after getting stuck on it years ago. That ride gives me panic attacks. I wasn't sure I'd make it another time. :p

I don't mind them showing Hallowishes. I figure in more than just the fireworks for the party. Trick or treating, the parade, the Villain meet and greet and all the other cool stuff they have going on at the park that they don't have at any other time.

I went to use the restroom once at the grand floridian and all they had was that sandpaper type toilet paper. I complained and they gave me a roll of charmin. :dance3:
