Fireworks Mishap - Wrong Information

Here is how I see it. The OP had every right to complain. That is her right as a customer. Disney did not have to give her the tickets they did. That was their choice. And honstly who would not accept free tickets to Disney World. I'll tell you if I was offered them for any reason what so ever I would take them in a Heart Beat.

I can't believe that people are allowed to go on and on about how the OP is a crybaby for not getting to see the show she thought she was going to see, being downright mean about it, but I'm not allowed to say that I think people pushing their eight year olds around in strollers are ridiculous. It's nice that the board gets to pick and choose who is allowed to be bashed.

I can't imagine how you're going to react when life throws you a real curveball rather than just, "Waaaahhhh I'm in Disney World and they showed Hallowishes instead of Wishes and I want something free for my disappointment." You sound like not only a baby, but a spoiled rotten entitled baby.

Gosh as much as I hate to say it, this statement is somewhat true. OK so you leave the park upset, but going on for days about it is a bit much. There are too many other issues in the world more important and really this is childish. I am sure you will see wishes for your trip in February. You should not have complained as much as you have, and be thankful that you can go so many times per year.

In reality there was nothing any of the CMs could have done after hallowishes, and you KNEW this, unless you were planning all along for some freebies.

I've seen similar threads, and I just always think, "What exactly did you expect the CM to do?"

Immediately run to every single resort and pick up the times guides?

Call off the Hallowishes fireworks?

I just don't get it...there was nothing to be done at that point. There obviously was a lack of communication at Disney, because anyone who follows Disney internet news knew that Hallowishes was replacing Wishes for a few weeks a month before it happened. I knew it was happening, and I live 1000 miles away. So yes, let Disney know the mistake, but to go on and on about it for days, even AFTER getting freebies, is just really immature.

You're a lucky person. You get to go to WDW more than most people. Being disapointed is fine, but after getting FREE TICKETS after the fact (something Disney very rarely does after the fact), you still weren't satisfied and had to start a thread about it still "fuming".

Life isn't perfect. Neither is WDW. I'm sure the people that made the decision to show Hallowishes didn't do it to ruin your trip; they did it to enhance others. They've given you TWO DAY FREE tickets to come back, park hoppers no less.

Smile and say thank you, and enjoy Wishes next time on Disney's dime.

Why exactly do so many people have to be HARSH? You wonder why kids act the way they do now a days! Seriously people! She was set on seeing a particular fireworks show which according to everything she read SHOULD have been showing. However, it shouldn't have been THAT upsetting. Yes, it was the one year anniversary. However there are two more trips coming up that you can see them at. You should have just shrugged it off and figured you'd see them next time. It's not really that big of a deal. A disappointment yes. And for those who keep commenting on the free tickets, she has said several times she never asked for them or expected them. Don't tell me you would say no if they were offered to you though! I think the OP needs to learn to let the little things roll of their back. There's much bigger things to get that upset about. Hopefully the next trip is better!

Sabbie -

I wish you age, wisdom, a larger world view, and a chance to see Wishes with DBF as many times as you like.

May the pixiedust fairy sprinkle long lives, good health and an abundance of blessings on you.

I also hope this is the very worst, most annoying, sad and frustrating event that EVER happens to you at WDW!

*whistles*

Wow. I would have never expected these responses even if I do see both sides of the coin.

When something like this happens, I just write Disney a letter letting them know that they might want to think about correcting the problem in the future. The only time I've ever gotten anything free from Disney (other than the time I won a sweepstakes) was when my Mom had a panic attack after losing her wallet (no fault of anyone - just a mishap) and a very nice CM offered her a free drink. We tried to go back and pay the CM, but she wouldn't accept it. Her name is Rona. She works at Liberty Inn. Yes, she got a nice letter from me to Guest Services and if you see her, be extra nice to her. She rocks the World. :p

I figure if I simply let them know and someone else benefits from it and THEY go out and enjoy Disney and make more Disney fans of their kids and friends, that helps everyone. More attractions, more "special stuff" and we all benefit.

But honestly, I understand that it was frustrating. I really wanted to see Spectromagic in September, but was rained out. I figure it just wasn't meant to be. ;)

The CMs have little control over the situation. Those fireworks cost an upwards of $25,000 to $100,000 every night (depending on the show) and as many people as were upset about not seeing Wishes, there were probably as many who were requesting Hallowishes that couldn't afford the extra fee for the special event for all their family members. I guess what I'm saying is that the CM wouldn't have been able to order another show.

That, of course, doesn't give anyone the right to be ugly to you for being honest on these boards. I've noticed it can sometimes get hairy on here, but there's just a lot of personality to this board and despite the times we get picked on (I've been picked on once or twice, too - it was not fun!), it's really a great board and the best Disney World board I've found. Don't let these responses turn you away from the greatest WDW board I've yet to find. :goodvibes

I had a sad moment as well. They took away the Narnia attraction. Made me a little misty-eyed I admit. :guilty:

Not another Narnia Naysayer!!! Just kidding folks. I never got to see the Narnia exhibit either.

Wow! Again...harsh! :sad2:
Read the thread again! I certainly did not see it as "fuming". I saw it as her discussing her "mishap" and then sharing in her blessing.
Remember, she said it was her anniversary trip! Wouldn't you want everything to be perfect! You never get those memories back!

You're not allowed to rag me: I never once told a CM to put it back up! :p

It was a great attraction - just low key. I just wish they would have called me and let me put it in my backyard. :p

I don't really see where anyone is being particulary harsh to the op. People just can't see what was worth fuming about for days. I had my heart set on bigger and more important things than a firework show and sulked less than her. I WISH that my biggest concern was that they didn't show the right show on my 1-year anniversary with a boyfriend. I honestly just don't see the big deal or see what was worth the fuming and ruining a vacation.

I just think the whole think was so melodramatic. I know that this is a Disney discussion board for all things Disney, but with all that's going on in the world, I just get tired of hearing all the petty complaints.

I am a teacher of children with special needs (all my kids have mental disabilities and are in wheelchairs) and my dh teaches in an alternative school for at risk students (most of his kids have never left the county, much less been to WDW). Trust me when I say that the op is really going overboard on this. Try working with kids who really do have something to complain about, and then listen to this kind of whining. I yes I probably am being harsh, but reality has to hit sometime.

I completely understand. I thank the fates everytime I get the chance to go again and that my family and I return home safe and sound. :thumbsup2

I think the OP is just very young and will eventually look back and say, "What was I going on about?" ;)

Really! I think we are getting a little away from the point of this all! Most of you people need to go back and read her thread again before you post such comments that don't even relate to the situation!

Sabbie, don't take a Sabbietical. The Dis boards are really nice. You just have to watch out for the smart mouthed Texans.

You don't have to pretend it was a "low key" attraction on my account. I didn't get to see it either. I know it must have been awesome. I've heard accounts of it and now it is all a dream. No really, I'll be okay in a bit.

I don't think that anyone would be critisizing her if she had just come on and said it was a disapointment that she didn't get to see Wishes while she was there. It is the total melodrama, and the fact that there was NOTHING that the CM could have done. Was he supposed to put out an all points bulletin for any and all time sheets with Wishes printed on it. Even if there was someone he could have called, he wouldn't have had the authority to change anything.

Also, should all the attendees be compensated or just the disapointed ones? The ones there for special celebrations maybe?

At some point you just get disapointed, say oh well and move on. I'm sorry that I can't muster up a Poor you for her. POTC was not working when we went to ride it, and I really wanted to ride it. Oh, well. I guess all the other incredibly fun and wonderful things that I did get the chance to experience will have to suffice.

I trully believe that the reason there is critisim (sp) is due to the lack of discernment and maturity. Yes it was suppose to be special. To let it ruin a trip....and complain numerous times... there is so much majic in the world to enjoy. We all look forward to those special places... I cant wait to go to splash mountain and thundermountain railroad. I know they are doing maintenance on splash mountain just before we arrive. It is scheduled to be open. If it is not, yes I will be dissapointed, Will it make me fume and complain? I hope not. I think the reaction is overboard. I feel sorry for the CM who had to deal with all the complaints.

One last thought for the OP ....first you say that you dont understand why other people get tickets for complaining. and now that you finally have them you say it was not your intent...it sounds very controversial to me.

Honestly, she should have just come to the boards before her trip and she would have known about the change. Don't let this thread scare you off, there is much information to absorb that just might save you from another disappointment in a future trip.
