Finally sold on happily ever after

You guys, this is just a preview of the song. Less than four minutes of a 16-minute show, it's not all going to be the pop song, there will be Disney music woven in. Just. Like. Wishes.
Right!!! I don't know why some people don't like the show just because of the song... They WILL incorporate Disney classic songs in it..

Still not sold on the lyrics and style of the singing but I'm trying to have an open mind.

As much as I want to say I'm sold as well, I can't just yet. I'm also trying to keep an open mind. I'll just have to wait and see...

Visually I really like it. The music seems cheesy and poppy (in a bad way) to me, and I feel like it sounds dated? But with the added chorus I liked it much better. Hopefully there is a lot of that.

LOL @ the music feeling dated. Have you ever seen Fantasmic?? Talk about dated :duck:

Ah, that does make a difference. It's nice to have options. For me, I'd want the bragging rights forever more. I was there the day "Happily Ever After Premiered".
Yeah, that's sort of what I was thinking too! I'm sure it will be crazy crowded though, plus they have morning EMH that day. But only me and my closest 60,000 or so friends will be able to say we were there, right?

I think the May 11 and May 12 Dessert Parties will be the most "valuable' Dessert Parties ever!:)

You all are making me cry! Such amazing memories of watching wishes for so many years....and going on my honeymoon where I will see happily ever after for the first time with my brand new DH. Disney magic never ceases to amaze me!

This is exactly my sentiment. The old Star Wars fireworks were the best ever, loud and in your face! Now it's a slow burn, without the powerful soundtrack it would be a total snoozefest. If HEA has the same long periods between fireworks as SW (I assume it will based on its length), it will probably feel as slow and disjointed.
I think DHS has firework issues that don't exist at MK. Particularly space limitations

I can't wait for the new show. While I loved Wishes, I'm glad to see them giving us a new show rather than "updating" Wishes. The technology in the show looks amazing, and seems a bit more upbeat but less sentimental at the same time. It's definitely a big step away from Wishes and Fantasy in the Sky before that.

I always loved Dreams in Paris but hated the restrictions on fireworks they have over there. It's so great to see projections and fireworks together at WDW. It's neat at DL, but you need binoculars to see anything on the castle there. I'm half disappointed that they just used a song from HKDL, but the choir finale sent chills down my spine. It will truly be hard to keep a dry eye during that finale. The lasers & spotlights are also an awesome addition. Feels like a true modern nighttime show.

Re: the song.

I HATED the Wishes song. Those kid's voices were like nails on a chalkboard and the rest was just shrill and annoying.

This song, I suspect, will be the ending. Disneyland's 60th Anniversary fireworks show had a song that had a similar "sound" and it is phenomemal when combined with the tempo of the fireworks. It might be sung by pop stars but it all comes together very well.

If you listen to the lyrics of this new song, it's powerful stuff. Listen closely and try not to cry, I dare you.

This show will be 100x better than Wishes. Talk about dated and one dimensional.

Still not sold on the lyrics and style of the singing but I'm trying to have an open mind.

Watch the finale of the Disneyland 60th Anniversary fireworks. Just the last 2:30. It's a very similar style of singing, and it's fantastic, honestly. The background orchestra music is more prominent than the singing in the actual shows.

After watching the video and seeing all the projections, I am second-guessing my plans for my October trip. We had planned to watch Happily Ever After from the Poly beach for the first time, just to avoid the crowds. But now I'm wondering if we should switch our park days. What do you guys think?

The music has the exact same issues I find with Wishes, but the show looks visually beautiful. I don't think this is replacing my very beloved Illuminations for favorite night time show, and that's ok, I don't think anything will ever replace Illuminations and the beauty of the lagoon and Worldshowcase at night. That said, still very much looking forward to the show!
As long as they don't screw with IllumiNations, it will have my top spot as well for nighttime show. Well, except Holiday Wishes. I fully expect to love it since I've watched it about 432,000 times on YouTube and I still can't get enough. Christmas + Fireworks = YES!

Symphony in the Stars was still the best fireworks show I've ever seen though. Just...holy cow. You know it's good when the ash is raining down on you and your chest is vibrating. LOL!

I might be in the minority, but I'm kind of tired of projection shows creeping in on the fireworks. I like FIREWORKS in my fireworks, and lots of them. I've snarled and bickered in the past about the new Star Wars show compared to the old one. Those were the best fireworks I'd ever seen and this is why: 1. The music is epic and goosebump-inspiring. And 2. There were a BUTTLOAD of huge fireworks exploding all over the place. It was just such a perfect combination and great experience.

Wishes, likewise was a pure fireworks show. Celebrate the Magic was cool to kind of get you warmed up, but when it comes down to it, I want big, beautiful, classic fireworks booming all around to some great, classic Disney music.

The one thing that is giving me hope is that the MK fireworks, Wishes and Holiday Wishes included, seem to have the original songs ("Wishes" and "Spirit of the Season") at the beginning and end of the shows, but the middle is usually full of great narration and classic Disney or Holiday music. I hope that's the same with this one.

One bummer is that watching the show from outside of the park certainly won't be the same. I would imagine there will be less demand for later ADRs at Cali Grill or Narcoossee's for experiencing the fireworks since it looks like a lot of this experience will rely on the projections.

Oh well. I'm sure it'll be nice for folks who like projection shows. Personally, I don't see the appeal of watching movie scenes projected on the side of a building. I can watch the movies whenever I want. When I come to a nighttime spectacular, I want the BOOM!

I was the same way, I saw the old SW fireworks last May and after one show it was in my top 3 FW shows (Remember-which has gottn even better since this time with the addition of projections- and Halloween Screams). I had high hopes for SWAGS and was sorely disappointed with just a burst here, another there. It was a projection show with a few fireworks, NOT a firework show.

That said, Disneyland has done an excellent job with combining the projections and FW. Starting with Forever, they brought a full FW show with full projections, and when Remeber returned this year they added the new projection tech and it's an amazing show, enhanced with projections, while still remaining a FW show. Hopefully HEA will follow in the footsteps of the Disneyland shows, not SWAGS, and bring together the best of both without sacrificing anything.

You'd definitely miss the projections from the Poly. I'd probably want to see this from MK first before anything.

Yeah, that's one of the things about this show, you won't get the full experience outside of the MK. We haven't heard the entire soundtrack yet, naturally, but if it's geared more towards what's being projected on the castle instead of the actual fireworks themselves, then it might be kind of strange.

They've adjusted it time to time and while similar it has been tweaked here and there... I'm 80% sure I read somewhere at the end of last year or early this year that they are going to tweak it again soon. not replace it.
