Finally!! I found a volunteer opportunity..how 'bout you?

I have a different dilemma! I found a great opportunity near me and have already arranged with the organization my date and times for my service, and now that I'm trying to submit that date and shift times on the HandsOn website, their site keeps throwing me an "error cutoff" error instead of finishing my registration!

Tried it on four browsers on three different computers and even on my G1 Android browser on my smartphone, same thing every time. Contacted HandsOn via email and twitter, got a useless form "read the FAQ" email reply, got a semi-useful reply via twitter that it was a "known issue" and to keep trying. Three days later of trying about a dozen times throughout each day, still no fix. I'm sure they're trying to fix it, but if they don't get me in before the million vouchers are spoken for, I'm going to be pretty ticked off. (I will, of course, still honor my word to the charity and complete the service, but I'll still be pretty disappointed.)

I am half-expecting someone to tell me I have a bad attitude and should volunteer without having any feelings at all about whether I will be rewarded for this one volunteering shift via the Disney program, but before you open up your flamethrower, this isn't my first or last time volunteering, I have done it in the past and will do it in the future without any reward other than knowing I have done something to help someone other than myself. I was very excited to see that Disney is supporting volunteering in this way and really want to participate, and will feel very left out if a random error on HandsOn's website exempts me from participating in the program.

I don't have my multi day tickets yet, but I plan to have them soon. How do I "present" them? does that mean that I will get a voucher and I show the CM at the gate and I can choose either the FP or the free day?

Question about the ultimate FP? Does anyone have any info on them? Will they be like the YOAMD FP lanyards for each park? (we were lucky enough to win those last year and they were fantastic!) or will they cover all 4 parks and have the super duper headliners? I have been curious about this. :)

We will be doing a family beach cleanup about 45 mins from our home. I think it will be a great opportunity, I am excited!

Is this what you were looking for?

Guests who present a valid multi-day ticket or Annual Pass or Passport may choose from one of the following three options instead of receiving the free 1-day, 1-park ticket:

- Disney's FASTPASS® Special Exchange Cards for certain attractions for you and up to 5 additional members of your party.

- A Special Ear Hat figurine with unique trading pins.

- Donate your free ticket to one of the select non-profit organizations designated by Disney Parks.

I found a site for how to do it for GAD. I like making fleece no-sew blankets and my kids don't need another one.

You can do it for GAD. Do a search on Project Linus and see if there is one in your area or state. Then you could contact the person and I've seen on other threads that they can mail the blankets if its too far away to deliver them to the drop off person.

My DD's and I are also making blankets for Project Linus. I think it will be alot of fun and a learning experience for the both of them too.

Can't you also use it to upgrade to an AP or a 10-day No Expire ticket?

I found info for Project Linus in my area, as well as Knitters for Critters (crochet or knit four 16 - 18" blankets). They both sound like great programs, now I just need to decide which to do!

How would one upgrade for multi-day tickets?

I live in a really small town and didn't think there would be anything around...but there is! My family is volunteering for two hours collecting canned goods at Kroger's. Love it! And my girls are so excited!

It's a win-win for everyone!

You take your certificate you get after you are done volunteering to one of the ticket places and do it there. I have read they cannot do it at the resorts.

Do you do the Project Linus blankets at home?
We have a two year old so this would keep us from having to find a sitter.
It is also the only one I could find that allows 6 year olds to participate. Also, do you buy the kits yourself or are they supplied?
Thanks!

I made ours at home and also worked on them at work. They are fairly simple. At the fabric store by where we live they sell kits. Otherwise you just buy a yard and a half of fleece. It took about 3 hours total for 4 blankets between the measuring, cutting and tying.

yesterday, but haven't heard anything yet. It says they can take up to 5 days to respond. For those that signed up with Linus, how long before they contacted you? If they can't take me, I need to be looking for other opportunities, since we are going in early March.

Thanks!

I was closed out of one program. I just emailed another organization. There are 2 that I would like to try, they are for ages 6 and up, but the days are monday-friday during business hours. How can families take advantage of those?

It is my understanding that you can express interest in more than one activity.

The lady emailed me back about 5 minutes after I signed up, but it looks like a form letter-email.

I finally got a great lead. I haven't heard back yet, but it's baking cookies for Habitat for Humanity workers. This will be perfect for my six year old and her three year old sister can help. It's nice to find one we can do from home. I love the idea of this promotion, but it can be hard to find good volunteer opportunities with little kids.

I would just keep checking if you don't see things right away in your area. There are about 20 new opportunities for things that showed up for our area between Monday and today. Making cookies for Habitat for Humanity just showed up for us also, so I may do that one for the ears and the pin :wizard: With the 2 GAD FP we don't think we really need more of those, and we do not need tickets. We may do 3 more things and donate 2 tickets now that I think about it. Making cookies is right up my alley!

I have an e-mail in to a service that is building a park trail in May (our trip is in June). We were trying to do something as a family, but there are not many open to DD6. DD3 will just be coming along for the ride. As a backup I am working at a charity gala at the end of February, so we will for sure have one super-FP.

DH and I signed up for the charity gala at the end of February also. We will be setting up tables for 500 people. Easy work for me, I set up tables at my restaurant everyday!

Last night DH signed us up for a book drive. All we need to do is donate 5 books per person. I went to Target today and picked up what I needed at the $1 spot.
