This will be a quickie since I kept forgetting to take pix.

The cast of characters:
Me, 38, planner of all things Disney
DH, 37, goes along for the ride, follows directions very well!
DS, 8, semi-picky eater
DS, 6, pickiest of the bunch

We were there Jan. 24-Feb. 1, stayed at AKL. We had the regular DDP.

Day 1, AK
Breakfast after Surise Safari at Pizzafari. Very good. Buffet. Not a ginormous selection, but everything you could want (and all very good). Omlet, scrabled eggs, banana-stuffed French Toast, regular FT, bacon, ham, sausage, fruit, pastries, bagels... You get the idea.

Never ate lunch cuz we were still full from breakfast. Did have Mickey Ice Cream bars, though. Always a winner!

Dinner at Mara. Kids had mac 'n' cheese. They ate it, 'nuff said! DH and I shared the Turkey ciabatta sammie. Oh, my! Super yummy! It had arugula, kalamata olives and some kind of orange sauce (spicy ranch? 1,000 island? who cares, it was delish!). We ate at Mara several times this week. Breakfast was nice and quick, lunch/dinner were much slower, but not dreadfully so.

Day 2 Epcot
Breakfast at Mara. We shared 2 Bounty Platters between the four of us. Plenty of food (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuit, Mickey waffle) in each, plus the dining plan offered us 2 drinks with each, so we were set!

Lunch at Sunshine Seasons. DH and I shared another turkey sammie. It was good, but not as good as the one at the Mara. We had the Asian chocolate cake for dessert. Very moist, but tasted alcoholic to us. Yuck! Kiddos had the build-your-own mini-sub. They liked them a lot. My kids don't eat sammies the regular way. They like to take them apart, so this was perfect for them. We met up with a friend from college (who's a CM now) and he had the Key Lime Pie. Yum!! He probably had something real to eat, too, but I only had eyes for the pie!

Dinner at Teppan Edo. We'd been before without the kids, but they had never been to a hibachi-style restaurant. We were seated with another family who had two boys. Their boys were much more adventurous eaters than mine! Their six year old was chowing the sushi! I was very impressed. DH and I had the shrimp/steak combo with a salad (added on - paid cash) and the boys had the chicken. I was hoping the boys would get the bullet-train plates, but apparantly that only comes with the kitchen-cooked kid's meals, not the hibachi ones. We all really enjoyed our meals. The boys were apprehensive at first, but ultimately had agreat time and tried a few new things. For dessert, DH had vanilla ice cream, the boys had a fruit cup (they were NOT happy about that being the only option!) and I thought I had ordered chocolate Ice cream, but I got the chocolate ginger cake instead. Musta been a language barrier, but no matter. It was wonderful! We'll definitely be going back (or maybe we'll just hit our local Benihana. It'll be cheaper!)

OK, my fingers hurt from typing. More later!

Great start! I can't wait to try Mara in September. I am in for the rest.

The banana french toast from the breakfast after the Sunrise Safari was the yummiest thing ever! I wish I had some right now!

Day 3 --MK

Breakfast at Mara (see above for details)

Lunch at Columbia Harbor House. This was our first visit to CHH, so we weren't sure what to expect. The line was ridiculously slow-moving and my menfolk got antsy (even the biggest). Boys had Mac 'n' cheese and liked it. DH and I split the fish/chicken nugget combo. It was yummy, but much too small for us to share. It looked huge in the picture, but was really only 4 (small) nuggets and 2 (fairly small) pieces of fish. It's one of those meals that is too big for one person and too small for two. Go figure...

Dinner at 1900 Park Faire. Another new restaurant for us. We wanted to try the strawberry soup, but were unimpressed with the rest of the menu. We had the WORST table in the entire restaurant. We were stuck in a corner behind a half-wall thingie that hid a door that was never used. Our server, Kitty, was terrific, but even she admitted that the table kinda sucked. If you've never beent her, this restaurant is kinda odd. The main doors lead into the back of the main room (and it looks and feels like the back). We kinda felt like we had snuck in and weren't supposed to be there. Very strange indeed! The characters were fun. We especially liked the step-people. They were hilarious! Step-mom yelled at my kids to eat their broccoli (and they did!). Cindy and the Prince were pretty dull. The food was tasty enough, but kinda odd. There was stir-fried beef and veggies right next to baked ziti and mozzarella salad. Very strange menu, not cohesive at all. Probably won't go back unless we take our niece.

Time to cook a cohesive dinner for the menfolk. More later...

Wednesday was our day off so we didn't really eat a normal breakfast or lunch. The boys did the cookie decorating activity at the AKL, so they were full of sugar at lunchtime!

We ended up at Raglan Road for dinner. Another kinda bad table here (right next to the hallway to the potties!), but not horrible. DS 6 bumped his drink and we had quite the Sprite-tastrophe on our hands. The server and the bussers were terrific with the cleanup.

The boys had the mac 'n' cheese (I swear they don't eat this much mac 'n' cheese at home!). It was made with white cheddar and had some different seasonings in it, so it didn't go over as well. They were reluctant to give it a try, but ultimately, they liked it. DH had the fish 'n' chips. He said it was tasty, but the fish was mostly batter and hardly and fish underneath. I had the bangers and mash. It came with some of the Irish beef stew over the top. The stew was definitely the best part of the dish. Anyone who knows bangers, knows they are kinda gross (by definition). These were pretty good. The mashies were yummy, too. I just liked the stew better. If we go back, I'll just get that.

For dessert, DH had the three kinds of chocolate (mousse, mousse and milkshake). He said it was just ok, but he ate the whole thing. :confused3 I had the bread and butter pudding. OMG!!! Heaven!!! :thumbsup2 :lovestruc :thumbsup2 :lovestruc It was super-rich so I couldn't even begin to finish it, but I loved every bite! I don't usually try non-chocolate desserts, but this was worth every bite of non-chocolate-ness.

More later...
