This will be a quickie since I kept forgetting to take pix.
The cast of characters:
Me, 38, planner of all things Disney
DH, 37, goes along for the ride, follows directions very well!
DS, 8, semi-picky eater
DS, 6, pickiest of the bunch
We were there Jan. 24-Feb. 1, stayed at AKL. We had the regular DDP.
Day 1, AK
Breakfast after Surise Safari at Pizzafari. Very good. Buffet. Not a ginormous selection, but everything you could want (and all very good). Omlet, scrabled eggs, banana-stuffed French Toast, regular FT, bacon, ham, sausage, fruit, pastries, bagels... You get the idea.
Never ate lunch cuz we were still full from breakfast. Did have Mickey Ice Cream bars, though. Always a winner!
Dinner at Mara. Kids had mac 'n' cheese. They ate it, 'nuff said! DH and I shared the Turkey ciabatta sammie. Oh, my! Super yummy! It had arugula, kalamata olives and some kind of orange sauce (spicy ranch? 1,000 island? who cares, it was delish!). We ate at Mara several times this week. Breakfast was nice and quick, lunch/dinner were much slower, but not dreadfully so.
Day 2 Epcot
Breakfast at Mara. We shared 2 Bounty Platters between the four of us. Plenty of food (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuit, Mickey waffle) in each, plus the dining plan offered us 2 drinks with each, so we were set!
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons. DH and I shared another turkey sammie. It was good, but not as good as the one at the Mara. We had the Asian chocolate cake for dessert. Very moist, but tasted alcoholic to us. Yuck! Kiddos had the build-your-own mini-sub. They liked them a lot. My kids don't eat sammies the regular way. They like to take them apart, so this was perfect for them. We met up with a friend from college (who's a CM now) and he had the Key Lime Pie. Yum!! He probably had something real to eat, too, but I only had eyes for the pie!
Dinner at Teppan Edo. We'd been before without the kids, but they had never been to a hibachi-style restaurant. We were seated with another family who had two boys. Their boys were much more adventurous eaters than mine! Their six year old was chowing the sushi! I was very impressed. DH and I had the shrimp/steak combo with a salad (added on - paid cash) and the boys had the chicken. I was hoping the boys would get the bullet-train plates, but apparantly that only comes with the kitchen-cooked kid's meals, not the hibachi ones. We all really enjoyed our meals. The boys were apprehensive at first, but ultimately had agreat time and tried a few new things. For dessert, DH had vanilla ice cream, the boys had a fruit cup (they were NOT happy about that being the only option!) and I thought I had ordered chocolate Ice cream, but I got the chocolate ginger cake instead. Musta been a language barrier, but no matter. It was wonderful! We'll definitely be going back (or maybe we'll just hit our local Benihana. It'll be cheaper!)
OK, my fingers hurt from typing. More later!
