Filling the CB with Debates- Yes or No

Many of the treads on the debate board were started because of posts here. Now that the debate board is gone I think it's inevitable that those same posts will now just evolve into debates. What I don't really get is that one of the reasons the board was shut down is that it doesn't have anything to do with Disney. Now don't get me wrong I really enjoy the CB and post a lot here but when you really think about it this board doesn't have much to do with Disney either.

Maybe if we preface our opinions/statements with......

I think that Mickey would......
or
Mickey would believe.......
etc....

then the Debates would all be "Disney" related.
WWMD - What would Mickey Do?

Only one person gets to vote, Pete. Bandwidth costs $$$ and I understand his position.

If you're not happy with the rules here find another board.

Other boards prohibit discussion on politics and religion as a compromise.

Surely bandwith is not the issue since debates, as long as they are allowed, will simply move to other boards.

As I have explained numerous times, I understand it is his decision. But that doesn't make it logical.

I know he was just the messenger, but you've got to admit that it's more than a bit ironic that the guy who says the debate board will be closed then says he votes no on debates filling up other boards.

Hmmmm, interesting question. Let's turn it around. What if the powers to be had closed the CB and WE all would have to go over and hang out at the DB with all our PDs, prayers and fluff..........would "they" want us????:teeth: :bounce:

I agree with DISfan1. If the word "debate" was in the subject, those of us that never went to the DB would happily skip over it.

In the 5+ years that I have been around, I have agreed with a person's right to post their opinion as long as it is not degrading, hurtful, or violates Board policies. More importantly, I
wholeheartedly believe that I have the choice to get involved in a post. Since I personally choose to not get into debates, the subject line would help me to skip over them.

JMHO.

I have just done a quick un-scientific survey and have noted that bar non all of those Debaters calling for their " right" to have a debate board....not one of them is a Dis Supporter.

Surely if they had the "right"to any thing they should at least expect to pay out some $$$$$ for the privilage.

I have already noticed debates springing up over the other boards, lets hope they are "nice" ones.

Denise :)

I have been on the boards for all of a month or so. The closing of the DB board is precisely the reason I don't shell out $$$ to support something like this until I know it better.

Hmmmm........I think NOT!

I have no problem with true debates anywhere on the forum. What happens though, is that there are very few true debates, based on "provable" facts. Most are based on opinion/emotion, and then turn into name-calling arguments.

I trust the mods will keep a close eye on thingson the other boards now that the DB is closed, and lock &/or remove those posts which do not follow the guidelines. As for me, if a post is becoming too offensive, I generally step away.

As far as our "rights"...we don't have any, since we don't own the board, and that is how it should be. The owners bear the cost, aggaravation, and everything else that goes along with having a Internet site like this, therefore they should have the authority to decide what they want and don't.

I vote a resounding YES until the DB comes back that is.
