Figment's Journey Into W.Disney World - Updated 12-21-2011

Just catching up on trip reports. Thanks for sharing yours! Mother/daughter trips are so much fun. I never went to WDW with my mom, we went other places. But, someday I would like to do a mother/daughter trip with my daughter.

Chapter 5B. Animal Kingdom and Down Town

I left you with our adventure through Everest Mountain. Afterwards we headed toward Dinoland to ride prime evil whirl. At least I rode it. I sat by myself and found that someone dropped changed in the seat next to me, but was unable to pick it up. Oh well. Someone else was a lucky $0.50+ richer. :)

After Prime Evil Whirl, I decided I wanted to try the Whack a Mole carnival game. Usually I'm against these at Disney World because Walt Disney did not want carnival games in the parks. But wanted to try my luck because I did so well with the timing on a game in spaceship earth.

The Result of whack a mole?

I won!

To me it was kind of funny because a whole family took one side and I honestly thought someone there would win. I realized PTSD can cause some strange things such as good timing and patterns. If it was up to me, I would not have PTSD because not only does it make me have better timing, it makes me life totally suck. :(

but enough about that.

I won a pink tie die chameleon which I exchanged for a green one to get a more realistic one. Anyway. After dinoland, i promised my mom I would go on Dinosaur with her. it wasn't scary because i have no emotions. but it was LOUD. As always, my eyes were closed on the picture but this year my ears were covered because having no emotions, makes your senses even more vibrant. So things that weren't as loud before are even louder to you than normal.

After dinosaur we decided to get a snack which was ice cream cone. I got swirl, while my mom got chocolate. After we ate that, we did not have any ADR's for dinner because we used two of them up on The Brown Derby. (Bad Choice There). We decided we could use our 15% off coupon at Planet Hollywood and decided to call 1-800-WDW-Dine to make reservations for Planet Hollywood. They said it was booked up but we learned that some people cancel w/o letting Disney Know and decided to wing it.

We headed to Down Town by taking the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge. While on the bus, we asked "where are the buses" (without thinking that we would be at the bus stations) because we would normally stop at a resort via boat or monorail. lol.

Once we got to Down Town Disney, we headed straight for Planet Hollywood because it was pratically 4:30pm by the time we got there.

We went in, and asked if there were any available walk in spots open and there were!! We also found out we could get more discount with AAA...Next time we know (if there is a next time). We were seated, and decided to get two alcoholic drinks. I got the "Legally Blonde" pina colada. (No pics. Sorry. But man was it GOOOD).

We decided to split an appetizer and went with the combo one.

After dinner, we decided to do some shopping. We got coffee for my brother, mickey mouse cookie cutters, post cards, and a few other things that equaled $40 or more because I was able to get the nice Cinderella Castle Throw. :) Then we went home by 8pm.

Once at the resort we did more shopping to get my brother the watch. We got one of those plastic card holders, a eye glass string for my mom, a pin and playing cards....and the watch.

Chapter 6A: DHS The Last Day

The morning of the last day, we had to drag our suitcases to luggage area of Pop Century. For Breakfast I'm not really sure what we did, I think we had the French toast. But anyway, prior to leaving, I had to get a few pictures of :figment: in the room, but first I'll share my friend's apron I made for her

okay here's :figment:

Before going to a park, we had to stop at airline check in and luggage area to drop off our luggage.

One of the cast members liked a pin on our lanyard (which was a baby mickey) and so we decided just to give it to him to make his day extra special. I had given pins away to people through out my trip to make their day a little more magical. I gave two pins to a little girl who traded a big pin for a small pin that she liked and a donald duck to a person who had a huge donald duck collection while I was searching for pins at the Disney Club desk in the lobby of Pop Century.

Our last park of the vacation was: Disney Hollywood Studios...
the first thing we tried to do was ToT:

But we noticed that it was a 30 minute wait for 10am. We realized that the park(s) were getting more crowded that day due to the impending Thanksgiving holiday week. But we managed to enjoy Ourselves. We got a Fast pass for TOT and headed over to Aerosmith in which I joined the Single Rider line.

Afterwards we stopped @ the kid spot and created a CD. There was a contest, if you could get all the stickers on to the CD w/o over lapping or having the stickers wrap around the other side, you won. My mom won the contest and got this:

We learned that day, for all the rides that there are cards for those who just make the rides (but just barely) at the front of the ride to hand to the cast member inside the ride... So we got that for Aerosmith. I wanted one for ToT but i forgot about it as the day went on. I ended up getting another one for Star Tours. :)

After Aerosmith, we decided to get a snack, a funnel cake:

At first the kiosk was closed...It's the kiosk by Indiana Jones so we were going to by pass it and do something else, but when we walked by it again it was open 3 min later. lol.

After our funnel cake, we headed over to the muppets to see if they had the kermit the frog keychain I wanted.

My mom thought it would be a funny picture because it reminds us of our basement. lol.

I had seen it in the Backlot Tour Gift Shop, but thought of course the Muppet gift shop would have it too. They only had Beaker keychain. So as we were making our way to the Backlot Gift Shop, we decided to go on Star Tours again where we got a different mission.

DSC_0979.jpg
I was unable to get this picture the first time we went into Star Tours early on the trip because I don't like holding up the line. lol.

After our tour through the galactic galaxy we went to the backlot tour giftshop where i was only going to buy the muppet keychain. When we got there, i found another cool keychain. I majored in film in college and saw a keychain shaped like a camera, which was cool...and on sale!

We ventured into the Great Movie ride... and afterwards, the art of animation.. or was it the other way around. Lol. I think it was the other way around since we were right by the art of animation. We decided to draw one last time. We noticed from the previous day, they got new paper. Instead of just having the DHS logo it also had the prep and landing naughty or nice on it. :) We thought we would be drawing mickey or minnie again, but we got a great surprise!!!

We drew grumpy!

Is the drawing at the Art of Animation new or have you always been able to do that? I love your Grumpy! I have to take my girls in there as they love to draw and would have so much fun doing that. I've really enjoyed your trip report!

I only just found your trip report and instantly fell in love with your Figment - he's gorgeous! Do you know if one can still buy them in the park? I will have to look for him next time.

Anyway, really like your report and your pictures - I only wish I could get MY mother to come on a trip with me to WDW, I would love that!

The art of animation has always been there. But it is something hidden to new comers and people who don't normally go over there.

Conclusion

Okay, it's 12-21-2011, Happy Holidays! I promised you guys a conclusion to this trip report so here it is...sorry for it being a little late.

This past trip went very well. Slightly ever disappointing for me since of everything in my day to day life. I got a little upset knowing that 4-5 years ago I was in excellent walking shape and could stay for the EMH at the parks. This year we got to our hotel around 8pm, except for one night we went back at 10pm.

My least favorite restaurant on this trip was The Brown Derby...which should not be a 2 table service meal based on how we were treated.

Our New favorite is: The Yak and Yeti in the Animal Kingdom. I'd definitely go back to that restaurant just for the fried won-tons. ;)

Another thing we noticed was that getting to MCO at 9am on a Sunday, means a longer line at the Magical Express. I was very surprised how long it was. Yeesh.

My favorite snack is still the funnel cake...but second to that is the caramel popcorn that comes in a blue bag at the Pop Century Cafeteria. (Better eaten a day after you open it. lol).

Hmm. That's about it.
Not sure when our next Disney adventure will be... but hoping that if everything goes well, with everything this year we will be able to go Deluxe on our next trip...(Either the Contemporary or the Polynesian)

So if you're looking at staying at the Contemporary, totally look at BLT. I got a better rate on a Studio than I did a normal room at the Contemporary (using a general public room only code.) I thought the room was really nice for just one or two people!
