It’s going to be fine. We haven’t lost to them in the WC before and they haven’t beat us in war in the last two times they tried. History and the soccer gods are on our side. And this time, more Americans will see our team than ever before.

The US sucks at corners. It's almost England's best defensive play - just give us a corner and we'll never score. I think we had about 7 in a row from the 60th to 64th minute...

We played for the tie at the end and almost blew it.

Guess we'll see if the US deserves to be at the World Cup. If they beat Iran, they are in the round of 16. If they lose or tie, they are out. Seems like a good spot, except they haven't won yet.

Was hoping for a magic win, but at least we're still in it for now.

I thought the US was the SLIGHTLY better team over the entire game. England controlled the first 20 minutes, nut after that, it was the US.

Regarding corners, its actually surprising how many corners DON'T result in a goal (in all games, not just world cup).

I would imagine so. US controlled about 2/3 of the action after the first 10 minutes.

I went to the site of the Battle of New Orleans in Summer. The Americans won because they easily misled the British and got them to go to the opposite bank of the Mississippi, and they also had a small beck or stream with steep banks that the British were shot getting over.
If you are ever in New Orleans I highly recommend the paddle steamer with a fantastic historian on it that goes down to the site.
It was a lot more interesting than that game!

We played well and on balance think we were the better team. It all comes down to Iran now. Win and we go on on, don't and we go home.
